Entertaining but rushed
grantss6 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Maddie's abductor, Kurt Dockweiler, has turned himself in and admitted to kidnapping her. He has demands which if not meant will result in Maddie dying. Not trusting the police to fund her, Bosch, Mo and Honey Chandler are doing their own investigating.

Episode 1 of Season 2 was excellent, bringing back what made the original Bosch so brilliant and better than Bosch - Legacy: the police procedural stuff and good old fashioned lead-following. With this great setup I was expecting a long intriguing investigation and a battle of wits between the LAPD and Dockweiler.

So much for that. Bosch, Mo and Honey solve this in a snap. It's too easy, to the point of being implausible and incredibly rushed. Hardly any tension or suspense, just bim bam boom, here she is.

It's reasonably entertaining but also disappointing because I was hoping for something more tense and clever.

Not an ounce of originality
gabriel-8026 October 2023
All of a sudden many of the regular cast from the original series is back, not really doing anything. Only there for nostalgic reasons I guess. Slightly confusing.

The plot is a bit far fetched, seen several times before in other tv shows, and is solved way too quickly and easy. Pretty obvious they are not using Connellys source material anymore. And don't get me started on the rapelling scorpion...

I will keep watching as I loved the original Bosch series, and have read most of the books, but it very much depends on the plots and how believable they are. So far, not so good.

Titus is great as always, even though he is more efficient as a retired cop in the books, and so are the main cast in Legacy. Production wise I got a feeling the budget is much smaller than on the original series, but it doesn' really show. I'll tune in for next episode. Crossing fingers they will hire better writers.

She's Back--I Just Knew She Would Be
Hitchcoc2 November 2023
Maddie goes underground. Her abductor sits in a jail cell. He has four rape convictions facing him. He extorts the police by using Maddie's location as a bargaining chip. He will still face jail time but would be cleared of the rape/sex offender label. We hate him. He is so smug. About twenty percent of the episode is Maddie yelling for help and fighting a scorpion. I don't mean to be unkind, but this is so weak as a plot. The way it is solved is a bit beyond reality. I would hope now that they would send our Maddie off to psychological camp and we could get on with other cases. I love Bosch. The first to episodes of the Second Season are just so ordinary. I'm going back to Fringe.

Lazy writing will kill this series
DazzKnowles29 October 2023
The original Bosch series was a triumph with great stories taken from the Michael Connelly books modernised where necessary and delivered in some great tense TV that remained completely believable throughout. Solving a crime, like Bosch's motivational memo, required getting off your a$$ and knocking on doors.

And then along came Legacy...

Out has gone all of the believable stories and getting any sort of information has been reduced to calling the completely unoriginal IT hacker character who, no matter what you need, can hack into any computer system and have the information you need in the time that you need it. Yawn!

I'll persevere with the show a little longer to see if the next case has any sort of intelligence applied to it by the writers. I'm not especially optimistic that it will though.

I will pretend these 2 last episodes never happened
Zaffy-122 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
One of the most ridiculous tropes in Cop/Crime Series: the moment a police officer is kidnapped by a deranged serial killer/rapists.

This "scenario" is the worst of cliches and shows how desperate or lazy (or both) the writers of a show have become.

There is not a single original thing in this episode that we haven't watched again and again and again.

-The main hero in destress trying to find his beloved one? Check!

-The omnipotent villain that is always a step ahead? Check!

-Running against time cause the victim will die soon? Check!

-Having a camera showing the victim? Check!

-Desert scenery? Check!

-Having the victim buried alive? Check!

-Finding the victim the very last moment? Check!

And I guess a lot of PTSD will follow for poor Maddie, who let's recall, a few years earlier had to experience the tragic loss of her mom.

This was awful in any degree. Hopefully the season will get better.

Bye bye Bosch
dierregi22 October 2023
It's clear that the first series of Legacy didn't work out. In fact, they had to bring back several characters from the original Bosch (when he was a detective and the show worked), albeit in secondary, not-too-important roles. Jerry Edgar and Mank were back in the first episode and even Crate and Barrel and dragged out of retirement (for no purpose whatsoever) while Bosch is frantically looking for Maddie, with Honey Chandler in tow, complete with a designer handbag and suitable attire for Mission "Rescue in the Desert". I was glad to see Edgar, Mank, Crate & Barrel, except they were useless to the plot development because the main character is Maddie.

Obviously, Maddie knows where she's been stashed, she barely saw a hill and a plane but she identified her location (eyes roll) because she's so smart,... not smart enough to stay out of the way of a serial rapist, but still... she's the star and after two episodes devoted to her salvation I am ready to say goodbye to Bosch and family. I liked the old show with the ensemble cast, this is a woke joke.

Manipulative and poorly written
lesepstein19 January 2024
This was a tense episode but very manipulative and poorly written. I loved the books and the earlier series, but this was a pale shadow. Most glaring error. The scene where Bosch has to hassle Edgar to give him Dockweiler's address, comes not five minutes after a scene showing Bosch at Dockweiler's house leaving a note on the door and picking up a cigarette butt! He obviously alredy had the address. Did anyone read the script ahead of filming? You would think Executive Producer Michael Connelly would have choked reading that.

It's saving grace was seeing all those familiar characters again and Titus Welliver's definitive Bosch.

Edward's not near Joshua Tree
ashlapiwape2 December 2023
Not only is Edward's AFB no where near Joshua Tree-Edward's in north and JT is east but there is no WiFi out there and cell coverage is none existent or spotty. I lived in SoCal for 13 years and traversed both those areas frequently. The writers are getting sloppy

This doesn't compare with the original Bosch series.

I have kids in the industry who I complain to all the time about inconsistencies. Titus lives in SoCal, he rides his horse out there. I am 100% certain Titus knows where Edward's and JT are, so why wouldn't he speak up when reading the script. My kids say actors just don't do that well why the hell not if it makes the production more accurate and authentic. I am very disappointed in the writing , directing and the actors in this episode and likely the rest of this season if this E2 is any example.

Opportunity missed
damianfallon520 January 2024
It's a schoolboy error but the writers have messed up . They had to get rid of the albatross around the neck of this series and they failed to take it. Maddie is THE worst thing about this show - in order to save it she has to go. She can move away or the writers can find a more permanent exit for the most annoying woman on TV. This whiney little zero adds absolutely nothing to the show , in fact she's a total drag . It wouldn't be so bad if the viewer could fast forward whenever she comes on but we can't as she's now a major focus of the plot . Overall Legacy has not yet hit the heights of the original but if they cut out the unnecessary characters this could turn out well.
