Originally conceived and made as a 9-episode web series for the now defunct FearNet, Tom Holland’s Twisted Tales has been released on to DVD as yet another horror anthology rather than TV show – running a huge 144 minutes – encompassing the entire series in one “movie”; and an inconsistent movie at that.
Some would say that you have to give web-based programming some leaway, after all budgets aren’t as high etc. However when said web series comes from FearNet, a site that had backing and had the resources, you have to wonder why they didn’t spend that little bit more money to make something a little more polished. Tom Holland's Twisted Tales was a web series hosted by our friends over at FearNet. The 'Twisted Tales' are nine short films, all written and directed by Tom Holland (Child's Play and Fright Night). They are stories about revenge seeking technology, tales of morality, drug abuse and werewolves, survival instincts, and dancing vampires. As with nearly every anthology series out there, there are high notes and low notes. Mileage always varies and enjoyment of the shorts is purely subjective. Holland recruits a few familiar faces to genre fans. In these tales you will find A.J. Bowen (The Sacrament), who gets victimized by his Gps in Fred and his Gps. Danielle Harris (Stakeland) and William Forsythe (Boardwalk Empire) go tete-a-tete in the deal with the Devil tale To Hell With You. Ray Wise...

Tom Holland is a heralded horror filmmaker, having both Child’s Play and Fright Night on his résumé, but you wouldn’t know that from his FearNet web series turned anthology horror film, Tom Holland’s Twisted Tales. Stringing together nine whimpering stories of obscurity, stale plotting, poorly budgeted production, and regrettable acting from so many genre stars, I can’t express how utterly disappointing each segment becomes. Thinking of each short as some cheap webisode content for publicity purposes, getting Holland’s name out while FearNet promotes a legendary horror talent, quality lacks drive and ambition, as similar productions like Zombie Roadkill outshine Holland’s feeble attempts. Eliminating the point of owning this release, you can watch all these “twisted tales” over on FearNet – and even then I wouldn’t recommend it.

Genre legend Tom Holland (Child’s Play, Fright Night) wrote and directed a web series for Fearnet called Tom Holland’s Twisted Tales. Now the series is getting the DVD treatment. We spoke with Tom about what people can expect on the DVD.
Was it always the plan to release a DVD? Originally, Twisted Tales was just meant to be a Fearnet show.
Well, they were going to try to get Walmart to release them, and it worked! Walmart took it, which, as you know, is the only major market left for DVDs. So I’m thrilled about that, but there was no guarantee. It worked out very well. The one who deserves the credit is Mark Ward at Image. It is a huge distribution. It gives it a chance to get out there.

Over this past weekend, hundreds of hungry (literally and figuratively) screenwriters arrived in Burbank, CA to pitch their life’s dream to studio execs. The event invites people far and wide to try to catch lightning in a bottle, that ephemeral feeling that everyone searches for, and rarely finds, in La. The Great American Pitchfest not only can open doors, but is massively educational, offering an opportunity to meet like minded writers and actors and directors who all want to do the same thing, and learn from the best in the process.
There were plenty of free classes and panels, of which we attended several. All of which were illuminating, inspiring, informative, and filled with influential writers and directors. There was also free cake. So yeah, go next year.
The big draw for FM was the fabled, star powered genre writing panel, which featured Tom Holland (Fright Night, Child’S Play,...

When you talk about horror legends, one name that has to be included is Tom Holland. From Fright Night to Child's Play, Tom has had a hand in some of the most memorable horror films of all time. He recently sat down with Dread Central to talk about his projects past, present and future.
Holland will spend the next year helping to organize and host Ship of Fear, a horror convention cruise sponsored by Chiller that will set sail on October 28, 2013. Between now and then Holland and his team will create the most intense festival they can imagine... and then ship it out to sea. "The idea came about because I've been watching the horror convention circuit grow more professional," Holland said. "I've only done two in my entire life where I had to leave La, and one was in Franklin, Indiana, which is about half an hour from where my father was born,...

This past Saturday (10/20) this writer, along with actresses Natalie Victoria (DeadHeads) and Carlee Baker (The Woman)' made the drive from Hollywood to Temecula, CA, to participate in Run For Your Lives, a zombie-infested 5K obstacle course race and lived to tell about it.
Read on for photos and more!
A national phenomenon, this past weekend’s Run For Your Lives event was set up at Vail Lake, Temecula, and in addition to the well-organized race, it included live bands, food and alchohol vendors and a Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines booth (the film streets tomorrow, 10/23, on DVD and Blu-ray via Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment), where filmmaker Declan O’Brien spent some time signing materials after completing his heat (no lie, I had to talk him into the former, and as it turned out, he was happy I did).
So how does Run For Your Lives work? It’s pretty straightforward.
