Cute movie, but misses the mark when it come to Biblical Angels
Ponypoor1 May 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Cute light movie. The girl who was the main character did a very nice job. Dean Cain was good as well. The only problem I had with the movie was it's unbiblical outlook on angels. According to the Bible, angels are created by God, separate from his creation of man. Men do not become angels, and angels do not become men. I would have enjoyed the movie more if they had given the glory to God for the healing power. God heals. Angels are God's messengers. The writers seem to have disregarded what the Bible says and made up their own ideas. Anyway, overall a cute film, but I am afraid it will give those that do not know the Bible or God, the wrong impression. I gave it a six because of the good acting, but I could not give it a higher score, because of the false teaching.

What an awful message!
Rick-939-21819517 February 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed this movie right up until the part where they decided that miracles comes with consequences. That is an awful message to send to kids or anyone else. The more I thought about it the madder I got. It seems like a wholesome movie but the real message is God (or angels) are up there being stingy with miracles!

Really they won't accept my review because it needs to be at least 10 lines long. Okay here you go! I hated this movie so much that I actually took the time to sign on to this site and tell you how much I hated it.

I don't think I've ever had a movie tick me off this bad. The acting was fine I liked the characters. I loved the setting. But the idea that there is a cost to be paid for healing someone is just insane! Worse yet it has to be paid by a 12 year old girl. Someone (Jesus) did pay that price many years ago!

Political correctness
ballsapparel-46-46785629 September 2016
I was disappointed to see this movie do as most others do in leaving out the one true God and any glory being given to Jesus Christ and God. Scenes where true Christians would ask Jesus for help were replaced with people seeming to pray to deceased grandfather and giving healing glory to him too. A hospital scene had a blind man healed by a gifted girl crying and asking the girl's parents to "believe in the girl". Not God. The girl. It was like Jesus and God were hidden from any part of the movie. Even the very last scene had the gifted girl whispering in her grandmother's ear on who helped her in a brief visit to heaven. Like "Jesus" could not be implied or mentioned. NO GLORY to God. This fear of showing belief in Jesus Christ and true faith is growing in the world and the U.S. rapidly, and in real life. Disappointed to see it in what could have been great movie.

A movie that will touch your hearts from the beginning to end
drshogansr25 October 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I found this movie for only $2 at the Dollar General store and when I read the back of the cover there is o justice to what the movie shows. This movie is such an inspiration to those that take out the time to watch it. This movie is not only a family movie, it is a movie that believers need to watch. It show that the bible is true. The young will teach the old. This movie also shows that it takes the mind of a child to be able to truly understand that which God has given us. Many of time we go through life and ask questions about the things that are going on do not realize that the answer(s) are right in front of our faces. There is and old saying that simply says, " You never know how good you've got it until it's gone." This movie makes that statement so clear. We get so involved in our lives, and in the complex way of thinking that we forget how to be simple minded in our thinking.

Tried, and tried but.
Jay_Jay266420 September 2013
I really tried to like this movie. The beginning starts out okay, but long and lots of filler music, to show the plot was thin. I guess the reason Carpenter and Cain acted in this must be they needed the money.

It is some kind of religious theme but I'm not sure what it compares to.

It just sad. They show a lot of panning around scenery with music, the problem is it's dead looking and not appealing. Maybe that was their intention.

They try to include some make shift 'effects' but it consisted of white screen and let your imagination do the work.

They insult the local population and show them as extremely stupid.

It was all I could do to watch the entire movie.

Good all rounder of Heaven type movies.
crystalseer25 May 2013
I think reviews should be based on the content of the movies, not a person's personal beliefs. Majority of people know and have their own opinions of what Angels are, so why bring in the "biblical" references to this or any other spiritual movie. We all have our own Spiritual/Religious views and if they differ from someone else - so be it. Enjoy the movie - I personally loved it for light entertainment, a far cry from the over produced Violent/catastrophe end of days type movie. The players were run of mill with the acting and seemed to keep to the storyline. Whatever your interpretation of the afterlife is - this is a movie most are going to enjoy.

Tailored to a Certain Audience
paulbateman-237751 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is atrocious. It furthers my belief on why I no longer consider myself to be religious. All of the characters are very black and white without any real personality aside from "I'm mean!" and "I'm nice!" The film is tailored to a Kirk Cameron-style of audience that will eat up this preach to the choir garbage:

"Oh man I know there are angels and a God out there!" "Well, honey, there's not, and I'm not going to give any evidence to back up my beliefs that there's not, but you're not allowed to believe in a God because I said so!"

I find it hilarious that the writers intentionally made it so that there were more reasons to believe in a God than to not, because of some lazy science-fiction portal garbage.

I kid you not, there's a point in the movie where the Christian Grandmother tells the non-Christian mother that she wish she hadn't let her think on her own because she didn't chose the path she wanted her to chose. Fantastic.

I'm not mad that it's a Christian movie - it's just aggravating when certain Christians (like the ones that made this film) unintentionally push away an audience simply by putting us all in one "you must be a very bad person!" category.

I gave this movie a three instead of a one because the actors are certainly invested and trying very hard - you can certainly tell. There's also a lot of extremely funny moments in the movie (and trust me, they weren't intended to be funny) that makes it an enjoyable good-bad movie. Obviously this didn't affect my rating, but there's a guy from The Dark Knight in this, so that's cool.

Overall I would suggest this if you want an enjoyable good-bad movie with a lot of unintentionally hilarious moments, otherwise if you're a devout Catholic that enjoys Christian movies but doesn't really care about poor acting or poor writing, than I would suggest this to you as well.

Witchcraft Movie - not Biblical in any way
marie936810 April 2018
This should not be shown on Pure Flix. It is not pure. It is only a flick. This is the worst kind of movie to share on Pure Flix. It takes the gifts that only come from God and portrays that they come from some dead grandfather. Remove this film from Pure Flix and then destroy it.

Scapegoat Religion??
spamtrash-115 August 2018
I was very disappointed to see a pagan ritual introduced. Transference of sickness to the healer is not biblical. When did Jesus become sick because he healed some one.

What takes place in the movie is more witchcraft or new age energy healing nonsense.

I enjoyed the movie
valeniw6 March 2014
I liked the characters and acting. The movie caused me to reflect on my own beliefs. I liked putting my own interpretation on the events of the movie. It didn't take long to see that the setting was in Utah. i grew up there and love the scenery and the culture of the area. I related to the grandmother the most. The family values and feelings of closeness and caring in the family were inspiring to me. I could see the reflection of many biblical teachings in the script of the movie. Some themes that stood out most were: "what greater love can be shown than when one gives up their own life for a friend." "Unconditional love overcomes many problems." Forgiveness and repentance are basic principles of Christ like living. "Faith precedes the Miracle."

no.

This is a dangerous movie and should not be on pure flix. There is only One healer, and His Name is Jesus. She does not heal in Jesus Name. Any other healing by any other way is not from God and opens you up to witchcraft.

Fantastic Film
theganman23 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This was a truly wonderful film, and also a fantastic message (God isn't real). I was moved to tears during the soccer match when the Goalie (Ethan King) let all of the goals in. It truly was the best of times and the worst of times. Honestly I was discussing film with some of my friends, and we were all sharing what films had the most impact in our lives. My first friend said Inception, my second friend said Everything Everywhere all at Once. When it was my turn the words flew from my lips as quickly as the shots that rained down on the Goalie (Ethan King), Heaven's Door (2012). 10/10 would and will watch again.

Terrible movie
ebillbreedlove14 January 2024
The only positive in this movie is the cinematography and the acting by Charisma and Dean. The story line is ridiculous. The depiction of her getting healing powers and the grandmothers so called "faith" is more pagan than christian This movie is more science fiction than faith based or inspirational. Unfortunately I didn't think it would be appropriate for me to write a review unless I watched the whole movie. Being a bible student for 52 years this was excruciating to watch.

This movie was so bad that I felt sorry for Dean Cain and Chrisma Carpenter for having a part in this movie.

The grandmother was a joke. She was irritated with her husband for dying. No sorrow for his passing at all. I know everyone grieves in different ways but she didn't seem to grieve at all.

I could go on and on but then this review would be as bad as the movie.

Unexpectedly wonderful. At first you're not sure where it's going or what to thing. In the end, it's worth the wait! It develops in unique ways; some expected-some not.

Has a bit of a slow start, that's why I gave it an 8. Otherwise the movie is very good and I would recommend it to anyone. Definitely worth watching. Definitely has me interested in watching more movies similar to this one. Would have given it a 10 if it wasn't for the slow start to the movie.
