Sci-fi short that focuses on essentialism

"Rs-1281" is an award-winning 13-minute live action short film written and directed by Rubén Arnaiz. This one came out back in 2011, so it is not too new anymore. You can also hear the filmmaker's voice, but apart from that it is really a 2-people acting effort from start to finish. And as minimal as the cast is, same is true about the location, which is almost non-existent in terms of furniture, sets, backgrounds if we ignore the ending. The latter was also perhaps what made the film most memorable and most worth seeing, but it still isn't too great and given how dialogue-driven the film is before that, I must say that the writing, especially the dialogue writing were not on a level that convinced me. Same can be said about the acting. I generally like small casts, but the two here while not being bad also never reached a level that could make me forget about the relatively mediocre production values in almost any other field. A so-so film as a whole, maybe worth seeing for huge sci-fi addicts, but maybe not because it really isn't a typical science fiction film and I am not talking about the running time here. A bit of a pity I guess, I think there was potential for a better outcome as the general idea isn't too bad. Oh yeah, gets subs if you don't speak Spanish. Or just skip the watch. I don't recommend checking it out, it never feels as deep as they clearly wanted it to be.
