The first goodgey episode in this season
tomsly-4001514 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Finally a good episode in this season where you don't have the feeling that everyone on board the Ceritos has ADHD, is put on drugs or has become an infant again.

We once again meet three of the evil AI species that were introduced before: Agimus, Peanut Hamper and Badgey. While Boimler and Tendi are taking care of the machines, Rutherford and Mariner take on Badgey, that is as mad as before - especially when he sees Rutherford. The Badgey story is the more interesting one. While they try to outsmart that holographic projection it starts to spin off parts of his character into new entities: Goodgey is pure friendliness while Logicey is the reasonable part of Badgey. During that transformation Badgey becomes the ultimate villain that is about to destroy the universe but ultimately realizes, that becoming a god and creating a new universe in an empty dimension might be more challenging to him.

That episode was quite interesting since it showed what happened to those characters and how they have changed. Even Peanut Hamper finds her calling. It is hilarious that Agimus can trick Tendi and Boimler that he is a good machine now by changing his red lights into blue ones. And how quickly he is able to dominate a whole planet again.

The first good episode in this sub-par season that has some meaning is not just a bunch if unfunny jokes.

Amazing Interesting !

Twists, turns and more twists !

Another great episode from a pretty excellent season !

Writing is sublime, keeps you guessing and keeps the overall arc going !

It has everything a trek fan could love, action, feels, wholesomeness, cute moments!

As always the animation looks great and is still impressive how things are done, music and sound also great as always !

So much to unpack in this one is a testament to how good these guys are at making show with a small run time still feel longer.

Nit picks, none ! Loved it ! I'd put this high on the list for greatest lower decks / trek episodes !

Badgey and the super computers
Misterniska15 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This episode brings the unexpected return of Badgey and he is just as maniac and evil as ever. Although the episode adds some twists with Badgey splitting its personalities, it still rehashes similar plot lines than the first few Badgey episodes. I have to admit that I didn't like the evil AI narratives with Badgey in the first place, so I didn't really enjoy its return here.

The supercomputer return - yes, another return in this episode - is also relatively annoying as it just repeats old supercomputer-wants-to-dominate-humanity tropes and it goes for a cheesy soap opera solution with the message that love conquers all.

In the end, it was a pretty ordinary episode for Lower Decks which for me didn't add anything interesting or new to the standard formula.
