Okay, so I originally heard of this movie from Facebook. Things about the movie kept getting posted by friends of mine. These guys did a great job with creating quite a buzz locally for the movie. That, and a really hilarious trailer made it a must-go to event. Not only was I supporting a film made with local roots, but I was genuinely excited to see it!
I was at the opening night premiere, and got to walk the red carpet and get my picture taken. SO cool, they made it so enjoyable for everyone. . . you actually felt like you were somebody! Okay, so on to the actual movie. . .
Let me go ahead and say right off the bat, that this movie had the whole theater laughing out loud right from the start just as much as when I went to see movies like 'The Hangover'. This is saying A LOT. I found myself completely behind Richard, Evan, and Norman's characters the most. I couldn't get over how funny they were! There are easily several actors in this movie that could be huge hits in Hollywood. I was so impressed by the acting!
There were a lot of characters you're introduced to, and though it's a lot to take in, they did a great job allowing those characters to develop and sink into your brain. They made me love some characters, and hate others. . . which had me really rooting for the Sluggers throughout the movie.
I don't want to give away anything in the movie, so I can't pick out specific scenes. . . but it's SUCH a quotable movie. Me and my boyfriend have been throwing out random quotes from the movie ever since we saw it. This movie is a must see and easily has the ability to garner a cult-like following similar to what Clerks, Fubar, and Best in Show have done in the past.
As I said, it exceeded all of my expectations and I definitely recommend it! (if you're conservative, you might not enjoy as much. There's definitely some good edgy jokes!)
PLAY BALL!!!!
