Mediocre

Warning: Spoilers
So, the general idea is cool and I can of course dismiss some silly things because the universe of comics is full of silly ideas. But some of the writing is beyond silly. What is with the flashbacks and the revelations related with that? It made no sense. For example, everyone can hack Luthorcorp in 5 minutes.

Also, Connor and Sebastian being jerks after what the others did for them feels rushed and out of the blue. Last week, Sebastian was ready to die to protect his new friends, now he does not care for them. And even when the transition to Mr. Luthor has been given more time, it is still not very believable. I can understand Connor embracing a part of what Luthor means, but going full murderer has no reason so far. Unless the red moon is affecting his moon somehow (something they never specified).

I dis like the visuals and general look, the general idea of the episode, Krypto, Gar story (and the references to other DC superheroes). The fact that Jinx said "not again" gives me reason to believe she will be back. I hope so, as I like her.

Well, let's see what part B gives us, but I do not have much hope in the writing department.

"Brother Blood" serves as the mid-season finale, giving us a compelling and engaging hour of television and ultimately something to look forward to
Holt3442 December 2022
Written by Richard Hatem and directed by Jen McGowan. "Brother Blood" follows the aftermath of the previous episode with Sebastian being taken to go through the ritual to become Brother Blood. There have been a lot of build up towards these events and the execution was actually quite great, maybe a bit slow in the previous episodes but I actually really like Hatem's writing this season. McGowan's direction was strong and he directed some great scenes in this episode.

The story arc with Church of Blood have been fantastic, mostly because of the change in Sebastian's backstory. He's much more three dimensional than I expected him to be and the time we spent with him was appreciated. The direction they took with Superboy's arc feels right for Conner, embodying more of Luthor's genes. The identity crisis have been done quite well, feels like the writers actually read about it of people's various of experiences, overall good writing.

I found the drama to be a highlight because of the build up and writing, but also the acting. There weren't much action as they saved it to the last and it was a scene with the whole team working together, as a family you could say. It have felt like Titans had a bigger budget this season and we have seen it mostly through the effects, notably Superboy and Beast Boy, the latter having been on the side line for too long. Here he's on the front and it's so fitting. I think everyone was great in this episode but Joseph Morgan as Sebastian Sanger / Brother Blood, Joshua Orpin as Conner Kent / Superboy and Ryan Potter as Gar Logan / Beast Boy stood out the most with their performances.

Episode 4.06 was about the anticipated confrontation and they didn't disappoint with it. This was the ending of part 1, a compelling and engaging mid-season finale, giving us a mid-season premiere to look forward to. Each character's character arc were great, even newcomer Jinx who I grew to like after her introduction episode. I think they could have improved the pacing though, that's my only criticism of the first half.

A Mixed Bag
ahmadz8393 December 2022
This one is far more enjoyable than last week's disappointing offering. The new direction Connor's character is taking appears to have come out of left field, but I have learned to refrain from demanding too much from the writers. I don't even mind it because the storyline is from the comic books. This episode was rather average, aside from the refreshing appearance of Smug Connor and his spitting of meta-facts at the rest of the team (and cough, cough, at the writers). Bernard and Tim's dialogue continues to equal that of Riverdale in its ability to make you physically cringe. The actors don't seem to be putting in any effort either, which certainly doesn't help. Some recollections of Sebastian's past were as unrealistic as a prank you find on YouTube. Everyone knows "Titans" is one of the most inconsistent shows out there, but if you love the characters, as I do, you keep going back for more. Nothing else to say. On to the next, I suppose.

Rating: 6.8/10 (It Gets the Job Done, Slightly Flawed)

The season was going so well...
gwrugger8 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Last season had three mostly good episodes before falling apart. This season was coming along pretty well before stumbling last ep and fumbling around this one.

Where to start?

Right as they start dipping into "the red" for beast boy(a plane associated with animals) the writers decide Gar can turn into anything with DNA - including viruses. Will he turn into a plant next? Can he also touch the green?

Conner's turn would be a fun tribute if done well but the leather jacket and (outdated) Drakkar? And so suddenly. Poorly done Tim and Bernard should have been given more time to develop some chemistry before becoming a thing.

Raven's white outfit? It just doesn't look good. They should have just turned her soul self white and left her in her own clothes Jinx is awesome - sounds like she's died before and this won't be permanent for her.

The science was super cringy. The two bits that stood out: x = x + 1 is about as basic coding as it gets. There is no class down from that.

Three Titans will use sorcery to get Sebastian out of the temple and a Star Labs scientist will put him somehow reassemble his atoms as long as they get them into the room?

And about the mystery of teleportation - Mayhem literally teleported twice in front of Rachel and Raven. Wasn't that a clue?

Did we know already that Kori could boost Raven's power?

Finally - when did May develop an accent?

Worst Episode of the Season so Far: Replace the Writers!
panagiotis19931 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Rachel still has no powers. Sebastian is definitely brave for sacrificing himself to save people he barely knew. Conner looking like Lex Luthor lmao. Conner's attitude though it's very out of character, what's up with him? I hope he won't become a villain because that would be awful in my opinion. There is no real build-up for him to become a villain. Gar still has these visions which is interesting. Conner saying ''Call me Conner or Mr. Luthor'' wow pure cringe, awful. Conner has an idea of using satellites to basically ''hide'' the red moon, wow that's dumb, the writers can't be serious.

Conner calling Dick ''Richard'', what's going on? Is he on drugs? The teacher bullying (young) Sebastian for absolutely no reason was so dumb and unrealistic, just bad. It seems like Tim the only thing he has to add to the plot is his new relationship, yawning. The dialogue between Tim and Bernard is insufferable. Conner's new personality has to be one of the most annoying things I've ever experienced, I hate it. Conner was right about Rachel, Gar and Tim though, a bit harsh but true. Rachel can't help, Gar is going insane and Tim well... he is Tim.

The flashback with Sebastian breaking up with his girlfriend also made no sense and all the people who wronged him are now part of the cult? More nonsense! The plan is to teleport Sebastian out of the temple? These writers can't do a thing right, it's sad. So Jinx earned 5 million dollars for spending one day with the Titans? Now that's hard work right there! Makes sense. And just like that Rachel gets her powers back. Is Jinx dead? I hope she is. The only good thing about this episode has to be the ending with Sebastian. This is the worst episode of the season so far, nothing made sense, replace the writers asap! My rating is 3.5/10.
