No Patrol

Warning: Spoilers
Very slow and pretty boring episode without any member from from the Patrol (I don't regard Dorothy as a member of the patrol).

I still love this show but I am pretty disappointed with the pace this season and things like Cyborg not being Cyborg and Rita taking the team leader issue too far etc.

Since I am writing this review a week late, I have already seen next episode (Youth Patrol), and sure, it's ok but far from the standard I am used to. I did like episode 1 and 2 this season but rating episode 3 and 5 with a 6 (and this one 5), and I can't see them ending this season in a good way with only one episode left (why only 6 episodes??) so maybe this is it. Doom Patrol is doomed?

If they can't do it better than these last episodes and only have budget for 6 episodes , it's better to end the patrol instead of dragging it down.

Standalone episode - nah

Warning: Spoilers
Some shows (Mythic Quest) can do standalone episodes. This one should not have tried. Dorothy episodes are usually boring anyway, lacking humor, too, but this one is missing the cast, and the cast is what we love about Doom Patrol. Sure, Candlemaker is back, and the drag queens are great, but other than that, it's just like wait wait wait wait wait till the regular cast enters the picture. Fun part: recognizing Madeline Zima, child star of The Nanny, because somehow no matter how old she gets, her face doesn't change. But that was it. The drama is meh. Obviously I see the allegory, but it's still ehhhhhh. I'd rather have the cast back.

Beatiful story of loss and grief.

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was filled with all sorts of emotions. It told a story about what loss and grief and the lack of emotional support and venting can do in the long run. From someone who also had an absent father growing up, Dorothy's growing up phase hits pretty hard. The person that's supposed to be there for you, to help you navigate through your teenage years and help you figure out some fundimental things in your life, isn't there and you end up hurting from it but supressing your emotions because maybe sometimes "things are better left unsaid". Ignore all of the negative reviews focusing on the fact that Danny and drag queens were in this episode as they completely missed the point of this filler story. I wish we could have seen the queens push back to the ignorant trolls vandalising their murals, but it was perfect without it as well. The episode would be a 10/10 if we saw a bit of the Doom Patrol and just what happened at the end of the previous episode when Rita never woke up.
