  • A woman suggests searching another woman's bra for money.

Violence & Gore

  • A woman is shoved around and kicked in the stomach by multiple women until a guard pulls them off of her, calling them "animals".
  • A woman is punched in the face and left with a bloody lip as a form of revenge by a guard who she stopped from raping another woman.
  • A rat is seen crawling all over an ill woman while she lies in a decrepit cell.
  • Multiple scenes of police brutality, including a woman being kicked for not exiting a bus quickly enough.
  • A woman's physical health deteriorates to the point where she has severely rotten, greenish-yellow teeth from having no access to toothpaste or dental care.
  • A guard jabs a large pitchfork through multiple bags of garbage to be rid of any prisoners who may be hidden beneath, trying to escape (luckily nobody is hidden under the garbage).
  • It is mentioned multiple times not to try to escape the prisons in Ecuador, because the guards "shoot to kill". The US embassy ambassador warns that Ecuador is a sovereign nation with its own laws on that sort of thing.

Profanity

  • Some uses of "god/oh my god".
  • Uses of "hell".

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • The plot centers around the true story of Sandra Chase, who was wrongfully arrested for drug smuggling in the 1990's. At one point, a brick of cocaine is seen.
  • A girl's brother is a drug addict. Drug paraphernalia is seen on a table near him, and at one point, he steals his mother's jewellery and is sent to rehab after a theft charge.
  • Some alcoholic beverages are seen, mostly wine and champagne. A party in Ecuador for tourists also features an open bar with booze.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • This film is set in 1990's Ecuador, and many viewers have taken offence to the way Ecuador and its people are portrayed. The scenes of poverty, dirty prisons and piggish men may bother/upset some viewers.
  • The extremely harsh, cruel treatment towards the main character may bother some viewers.
  • There are multiple intense scenes, including an arrest, beatings, an attempted rape, a heated news interview, and a scene of nuns smuggling a girl into prison for a visit.
  • There is a brief scene featuring a rat crawling up a woman's leg. Viewers with a phobia of rodents may be frightened.
  • A woman coughs and appears very sick; she is made to remain in prison like this without her medication for roughly two whole years.
