Better than last year
tylermerrigan31 October 2022
I think that this was a pretty well done Treehouse of Horror episode. It definitely wasn't their best work, but an improvement from last year. There was no opening, which is a change from other years, but that was fine with me. The Pookadook segment was pretty good. Some funny parts, mostly by Homer, and it had me at the edge of my seat, and, it was honestly a little scary. I thought that was a strong segment. The next one, the Death Note parody, I thought was well done, not as good as the last one, with a much more serious tone, but still a good story, and I thought the change of art style was cool, anime isn't really my thing but I imagine a select amount of fans really liked that. The last segment showed The Simpsons being in a universe of the characters at theme parks. I thought that was the strongest segment, with the funniest moments and best plot, and it was original as well. I also liked the call back to Marge and the Monorail. I thought that was a very good segment. Overall, this was a good year for Treehouse of Horror, and I hope this show goes on forever!

Best Treehouse of Horror in a very long time
Kenjislamberry9 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
If only all the more recent episodes were like this . Its been years since i watched The Simpsons . This feels like something that would have come in older seasons .This episode made me want to watch the show again . The first segment is a parody of the babadook . Not too familiar with that movie . It was alright . I like the last two segments more . A lot of great references to horror movies and anime . I'm only gonna talk about death tome . My favorite segment has got to be the death note parody death tome . I'm bit disappointed they didn't do a intro parodying the first death note opening . Fun fact this segment was animated by DR Movie who did the animation for the death note series . This episode parodies the first episode. Like Light Yagami Lisa sees the death note(called death tome in the parody) fall out of the sky . She grabs it from the ground and accidentally opens it seeing the rules of the death tome . She thinks its a joke but keeps it . Unlike the real death note you can't use the same cause of death . She witnesses a cat hostage situation with Snake on the news . She writes his name in the book and kills him with a heart attack. She freaks out and goes to her room feeling guilty for killing a man . But gets over it quickly saying he was a bad man and that killing him makes her a hero. Similar to the anime she has a evil look on her face with red eye effect . Like the original series Ryuk in this case a shinigami named Steve Johnson appears before her introducing himself as a shinigami a god of death . He compliments her saying blood thirsty vegetarians are rare freaking out Lisa .She apologizes for taking his book. He says now that she used the book she can keep it . Lisa next uses the book to murder Mr. Burns after he reveals his side company global-warm's plans to melt the ice caps saying homer's ugly will be submerged . Lisa argues with him saying millions of people will drown . He says that is true but he will be able to park his yacht outside his kitchen. Steve tells her that he thought she would struggle with killing Mr Burns . She tells him she will give him a dignified and humane murder She kills him writing in the book that he dies in his sleep . Thinking it will give him a humane death but he ends up dying a painful death falling face first onto Homer's grill . She justifies his murder saying even though it was a more cruel death . She saved the world . Steve tells her that it won't end with Mr. Burns that globo-warm have many loyal employees to continue his plans . So she goes on a killing spree killing employees in ridiculous ways . The next day on the news it is revealed that police have discovered that the unexplained deaths of global-warm's executives were murderers committed by a blood thirsty super killer. They know that thanks to a tip from a anonymous detective known only as "L". L reveals the super killer committed the murders by writing in some kind of supernatural book or perhaps tome. Unlike the anime LIsa isn't called Kira and L doesn't use a imposter . She tries to kill "L" by writing his name in the book as L and discovers she needs his full name . She easily discovers that L is Bart after recognizing the graffiti as his nickname EL Barto . Bart reveals himself to Lisa in a alley sitting in a position like L from the original series . He tells her it took her long enough. She asks him how he figured out she killed all those people . He figured it out by reading her diary . Lisa is shown to be no where as smart as Light . He calls her out for her murder spree . She tells it was not murder that it is a justice spree . Lisa tries to write his name in the book saying she won't let him stop her . She stops writing after Bart calls her out for trying to murder her own brother . She regrets it and betrays Steve making him think that she was gonna murder her own brother . She writes that Steve got crushed by space junk . It kills him . She thinks its over and ends up being turned into a Shimigami from using the book so much . This a reference to a fan theory that Light was reincarnated into the mysterious Shimigami that Ryuk was talking to about the events of the anime in the ova . 9/10.

Best Simpson's Episode in Years!
maryellenigibson1 November 2022
Wow. Watched only to see how they tackled Death Note but was blown away by the episode especially the final segment story. First story is quite dark and unexpected. Second is beautifully done. Honestly loved their take on anime and the way the animation was done. Absolutely gorgeous. And third is such a beautiful homage to the series- so many references! I could watch it over and over again. I haven't watched too many of the newer seasons but I am beyond thrilled to have watched this one. So worth all the hype this episode is getting! This is the type of writing I've been missing from one of my favourite shows.

Finally, A truly great treehouse of horror on oar with the classic
dankearns-5457831 October 2022
Wow. I thought simpsons was dead 20 years ago. Episodes like this, not it and 2 part fargo spin off they did last year show their is new creativity that has brought life into series. Last season treehouse of horror was terrible. This season had 3 exceptional segments. 1st was actually intense and terrifying while still having a few laughs but similar to last week not it. Where the creativity and horror/parody aspects makes it more scary then funny. It still simpson but surpized by the intensity. Death note parody had incredible art design with some good humor. Simpson world is littered with exceptional call backs and also had some great humor. More Easter eggs then you can count. Best treehouse of horror since 7. Not as funny but def equally entertaining and arguably more creative.

Best TOH in a While
laffla1 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
All the segments were very well done! It was a nice change of pace to see Maggie as the main character in a segment and very suspenseful too! Though the ending was really heartwarming!

It was cool to see the characters in anime style in the Death Tome segment (though I do wish we had seen Maggie too). The ending was quite interesting with Lisa becoming death herself and wanting to kill Janie (though I feel that it would have made more since if it Terri and/or Sherri).

The last segment was in my opinion the best, it was neat to see a Simpsons theme park and that they were all a bunch of robots, (which may explain why they don't age). It was funny seeing the tourists push Homer in the bush to recreate to meme and then have Homer turn the tables on them. The ending was also heartwarming by having Marge say that they are real, and the twist at the end by having them end up at a Bob's Burger theme park was disturbing yet interesting!

What a treat for Simpsons fans from the 90s
cschiavi1331 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
1st segment, decent story, a little dark. The 2nd segment as an anime Simpsons episode was brilliant. If the voices weren't the Simpsons- you would think this was an authentic Japanese anime episode of Lupin or G-Force. Then the 3rd segment- wow. Full of Easter eggs for old school Simpson fans like me who have been doggin the show the last 20 years. This was totally a tribute to the fan. Very special episode. It was a lampoon on westworld from HBO and the Simpsons wake up as intellectual Property and try and blend in . Gag after gag I could not believe I was laughing out loud to the Simpsons again. Great job. Loved it.

Best one in years!
lukathehunter31 October 2022
Together with the show, Treehouse of Horror episodes declined in the last 8+ years. They rarely had more than 1 good short story in them. I went into this one open minded, after the IT parody which was solid for modern Simpsons. And boy did they deliver, FINALLY all 3 of the stories are actually interesting, gory, but also keeping in touch and being funny. I won't spoil anything but let's say, we have a classic Halloween special story, after which there's a great anime parody that really impressed me how they drew it without taking the focus away from dialogues. And lastly we get a lot of nostalgia, it was hard to keep up with some scenes with all the references for old Simpsons.

9.5/10, go ahead and enjoy it.

TOP TIER SIMPSONS!
seth-a-mills1 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The first short genuinely had me creeped out and a bit scared! That's a great start to an amazing episode. The animation is top tier animation, and the story and pacing all had a satisfying conclusion.

There is even a good taste of some classic call backs to our favorite episodes! From start to finish it truly feels like an episode that is not only fresh, but has a great sense of what we all love about the show.

I can already hear the many YouTubers that will break down the many Subtleties and deeper contributions this episode has to a series that needed a season like this.

In short, The Simpsons, they still got it! 🎃

Personal opinion
ruthtear1 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
In my opinion the first segment was very dark for the Simpsons it actually makes you fear for Maggie's safety. Marge was very scary in this segment. Now with that being said it's surprising they decided to use the babadook as an idea for this segment as it was very terrifying as movie. The second segment was amazingly drawn and was very good and was a very good take on death note. The third segment was very good as well and had a very good take on Westworld.

Overall I would say this year's tree house of horror was very good and had you on the edge of your seat (for the first segment).

Happy Halloween everyone.

The best treehouse of horror in decades
siddhant262 November 2022
I've seen every episode of the Simpsons but this is probably the best episode I have seen in the last few years and definitely the best of horror episode in 20 years. The creativity around it is probably a good and very healthy change, though you some people me argue that this is copied other TV shows what is the episode it seems it was still perfect.

I was expecting Just another Simpsons episode for I go to sleep but surprisingly it's one of those episodes I'll definitely see again before the next episode if I am nothing else to binge.

The Anime in the second episode or the fact that you know acknowledge that her animated TV shows across the episode was simply fantastic.

One of the best Tree House episodes
ducera31 October 2022
I would have never expected it to happen in the 34th season, but Treehouse of Horror XXXIII was one of my all-time favorite Treehouse of Horror episodes. The show takes the classic approach to the Treehouse of Horror- the episode is made up of multiple independent stories. However, I thought each was very creatively done. Without giving anything away, the first is a classic horror story, the second is in the style of anime (which I thought was a very refreshing take for the Simpsons), and the third is... the third one has to be seen, but I enjoyed it the most. It's the Simpsons, meta.

This episode has a little bit of that Halloween horror vibe, has enough of that Simpsons humor, and was creatively different enough from past Treehouse episodes that, for me, this one is a winner.

It's different in a good way
shoforosfos31 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
There is a lot to explore here, and yes, the death note segment with lisa is interesting, but the other stories also have their good touch and this is one of the few redeemable episodes of the simpsons today. The truth is that the anime style in the segment is just as interesting and the other stories are not far behind. By the way, a big point for including three writers again for the episode. Anyway, I thought this episode was very nice to watch, I could say that it is one of the best little houses or even the best in the last 10 years, and maybe it is because I am a huge fan of the series, but I am liking what i see.

Best one since season 10
User648282831 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This is the best treehouse of horror episode since season 10 the first one is finally a genuine attempt to be scary with a cool story and spooky music. The death tone one has some incredible animation including character designs and backgrounds, the story is really interesting and my favourite segment since toy glory which also had great animation. The final episode, escape from Simpsons world has a really great premise and very entertaining with lots of great references from previous episodes and a brilliant ending with bob's burgers and the reveal of all the other tv show worlds. The king and kodos scenes were a good start and end to the treehouse of horror which actually made it feel like a treehouse of horror finally.

Otaku's Delight
shelleyan18 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This year's Tree House of Horrors was less funny but more interesting than anything in recent seasons other than "A Serious Flanders" Fargo parody 2 parter from last year. We start off with a parody of The Babadook. The original Babadook was an Australian horror movie that used the metaphor of the Babadook to address grief and trauma. In the Simpsons version the monster is explicitly tied to Marge's resentment, which I'm always happy to see addressed. I would've liked to see more of the ire directed at Homer and Bart, to humorous or lethal effect, but narrowing the focus to Marge and Maggie was sweet. The second installment was a Death Note parody. It was encouraging to see the Simpsons putting their own spin on the concept, in contrast to last week's terrible It story that I wouldn't even call a parody. I particularly loved the animation by Dr Movie that also worked on the original Death Note, Naruto, and Bleach. Finally, we have a WestWorld parody that was both the funniest and most interesting story of the night. I don't want to spoil too much of it here, but I have to shout out the park map that included SpongeBob, Rick and Morty, and Bob's Burgers, among others. It was a fun Easter egg, and I enjoyed identifying all of them.

One of the best episodes ever
herouxmail15 October 2023
Wow. I loved the uniqueness of this episode. Without spoiling anything, it was in a league of it's own. I love 'alternate world' episodes and this one did an amazing job in the second segment. If every simpsons episode was like this, I would absolutely start watching again. Highly recommend to anyone who liked the simpsons previously and no longer watches it. This season seems to be going back to a higher standard and this episode proves that. Love the art style, and amazing creativity involved in this episode.

Amazing job, thank you everyone who is working on making the simpsons a good show again.

One of their absolute best episodes!
ovc8918 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I was definitely not expecting this! I was blown away by their spoofing of Death Note. It was beautifully well done. I just wish they had made a whole episode about it, because it really looked like they were onto something. That whole dynamic could easily turn into a complete episode. Also, the animation was so well done I decided I'll watch it again multiple times.

The Westworld spoofing was also quite great. It was full of memorable moments from their history; a bit of a parody of themselves. I loved that final scene where they show all the other worlds. Just an incredible episode!! Must watch!
