Last week I had the absolute pleasure of watching the screening of Watandar, My Countryman by my good friend Muzafar Ali & directed by Jolyon hoff.
Watandar tells the story & resilience of the people of Afghanistan, from the cameleers to the recent heartbreak that Afghanistan faced with the arrival of the Taliban, and their connection to the Indigenous Australians. Watandar tells the story of a Hazara man who fled Afghanistan due to centuries of persecution and oppression, to not only find freedom and safety, but to also continue serving the motherland. This is a story of survival, hope and the fight for a better and brighter future.
The documentary was powerful which every Australian can relate to.
