I am from Bodø and was initially excited to see A-ha, a legendary Norwegian band, focus on Bodø in an album and a video. However, I was disappointed. While the imagery is beautiful, it's easily achievable by anyone with a mobile camera or a cheap drone. The nature here is stunning.
Sadly, the impressive visuals are overshadowed by uninspired songwriting and lack of melody. Morten Harket, who usually sings beautifully, seems to struggle with the material. After 30 minutes, I had to turn it off; it was giving me a headache and dampening my mood.
The lyrics lack rhythm, rhyme, and inspiration, consisting mostly of superficial platitudes. It's disheartening to think I might produce similarly shallow work one day without even realizing it. A-ha's stature as mega-stars may have contributed to the project's lackluster quality, with too many people overlooking its flaws out of reverence for the band.
Despite this misstep, A-ha remains great, and I hope this project fades into obscurity while their earlier, more memorable music continues to receive attention in the future.
