Double Dutch In Italian
boblipton12 April 2024
Nick Basil and Henry Armetta play a couple of horse-cab men who conduct two visiting ladies on a sight-seeing tour of Lower Manhattan in this short comedy.

It looks like it was shot on site: not just the Brooklyn Bridge, but a couple of alleys south of Canal Street look pretty familiar to me, even if the push carts on the Lower East Side had long vanished when I first knew them. Basil and Armetta sidle up to the truth, accept Steve Brodie jumping off the Brooklyn Bridge as fact, and tell the same sort of nonsense that we natives have been peddling tourists ever since some visiting Indians from Brooklyn sold the Island they didn't own to the Dutch.
