Not her best
Jblum527 July 2022
Whitney Cummings is an extremely talented comedian and she is back with a new special. I feel like she tries harder in this special than I've ever seen but produces less laughs. She has great stage presence normally - and here I thought she was just going over the top too many times for cheap laughs, and not clever laughs like I have seen her do before. So most of the comedy falls into Amy Schumer territory which is not good unless you are 16. However this is not a train wreck like Amy Schumer (pun intended). It's worth a watch but you won't laugh out loud much.

All good comedians bomb sometimes, right?
limpfan10627 July 2022
This has got to be the least entertaining special of hers I've seen. It seemed like her and the audience weren't connecting, and it threw the whole routine off to the point that she had to explain the punchline of a lot of her jokes. Normally they film something like this a few times over a few nights or weeks and then put out the best version of it. IDK what happened here, seemed like they just did one rough take and that was it.

Still a fan, her other specials have all been good.

On a more serious note, Whitney has talked about her body insecurities and been open about that being the reason for her plastic surgery. It's clear that she struggles with body insecurity issues and has a hard time with relationships because of it. While there is no shame in any of that, it's clear that these feelings are the basis for a lot of her jokes and it turns into a lot of material that's sorta of blaming and bashing men in a way that feels more spiteful than funny. It feels more like she's going through a list of things that bother her, or things that she's struggles with, and pointing blame more so than trying to be funny. I think she lost her focus on this one. In her last special she talked about this stuff without making it an attack and I think that serves as a good example of how she struggled to thread the needle here.

Good
kristina_ml22 March 2023
I love her, but I think she was not physically or mentally ready for this. First of all, she was out of breath most of the time and it was not easy to watch, because I became concerned about her health. Second, I loved when she never smiled at her own jokes before and did not went too far to overexplain the joke. Other than that I though this was hilarious and clearly audience liked it too. I just wished she would talk more about her struggles regarding mental health. Also it was weird transition from her liking the old guys and then suddenly dating the younger guy. I knew she was dating younger one and at first I though she broke up with him. It was confusing.

Not Great
sjhill-602151 August 2022
Has Whitney decided to start channeling Nikki Glaser? Let's face it: Raunchy, low-brow comedy has become so common as to become tedious. I have no problem with raunchy, but when it is delivered without a grain of clever, it's just boring. Whitney can do better. This was a groan and a yawn.

Whitney Cummings is Back
tkdlifemagazine2 August 2022
Actually much funnier than Cummings's last special. Filmed in New Jersey, Whitney Cummings discusses life after engagement break-up, woke culture, and growing older. I think her set is funny and smart. This is a very enjoyable stand up. I think Whitney really has a great perspective on modern social trends. Catch this one.

Why can't I give this zero stars
fxhtg-6088213 August 2022
Zero stars. I don't know what else to say. She isn't funny and this isn't comedy. This might have been the worst "comedy" special I've ever seen. Filler.

Wife and I both thought this show was very funny
terrytyner-7533129 July 2022
I'm surprised about the negative reviews here. I laughed quite hard through many parts of this show as did my wife. The live audience seems to enjoy it. It's way better than Nikki's new special. I have already recommended this show to several friends.

The Gringo Mami
followpre14 August 2022
What in the hell did I just watch? I mean, the Andrew Schulz special was bad, but compared to this it was a masterpiece.

This mid-40 comedian (sorry, 39 of course *cough*) should have her picture under "physical comedy", what once was an okay roast comic and surely here and there a funny one, turned into a gymnast, except the gymnast is out of breath after every interpretation of a joke.

She thinks weird faces and movements, plus presenting the V constantly, equals funny. First part is just sex jokes, really bad ones. She is into old people, then suddenly she is into young guys. For the sake of comedy.

The second half is about stuff you did as a kid. Wild, right? Remember all the dangerous stuff we did as a kid? Wow. I remember *clap clap clap* But there is no joke.

Gringo Papi is the standard for the worst comedy special out there. But at least it was just 30 minutes. This is Whitney Cummings' 5th special, she should be good at this. Or just better than Schaub. But apparently she confused this one with a podcast. I didn't laugh once, I can at least laugh at Brendan Schaub ironically. This is worse.

What in the world
nmaslosky28 July 2022
So she's pretending not to be woke making fun of woke things? So many not funny or cringey parts... the whole thing has a weird vibe. Lots of jokes about her being super old but she's in her late 30s and still looks great so it really just doesn't work. Just very disappointing because she definitely can be funny, I've heard her on rogan and actually enjoyed the podcast.

Don't assume you know what people want.
michaelbramhall115 August 2022
I think Whitney tried to appeal to what she believed was the current comedy scene. This special is evidence of comedians being too distant from reality. Nothing in here is relatable to most people. The acting out is what children do when they can't get attention by using their intelligence.

37 of my life wasted... eye roll
ladyangelayaya1 August 2022
Whitney's Netflix special is one of the worst, that I've suffered through. At minute 37, I couldn't take it anymore. Her jokes were as vulgar as ever, but not funny at all. Her awkward poses and looks into the camera were unnatural. She just is not a physical comedian, despite her effort. Also, I've rarely noticed a "comedian" who laughs at herself as much.

She's pretty, and that's all.

Just jokes.
mattwass-483857 August 2022
My gf, and I just watched her special, we both thought it was really funny. Not clapter type comedy many look for today, which I think is the reason for the poor reviews.

Not worth it
sljcdavi27 July 2022
I don't know why she decided to put this out, but the material isn't very funny, let alone entertaining.

Given that she had several years to write new bits, this wasn't worth the wait at all.

Watch This With The Woman You Love (If She's Buzzed You Might Learn Something About Her)
nebohr26 July 2022
Whitney is way too pretty to be a comedian. And too intelligent.

My wife laughed through nearly the entire show. I learned something about her that I never knew before.

Sex injuries are a real thing. Be careful out there, people.

Her ideas about privacy? Was that sarcasm?

A surprising audience response to the Valtrex joke.

It's ok, at least you're pretty.
Top_Dawg_Critic28 July 2022
The funniest parts were when she was trying to catch her breath. There was literally nothing funny enough to even crack a smile in the one hour set. If anything, some of the content was cringe. Before this show, I saw Bill Burr Live at Red Rocks and was crying in laughter. Now that's a comedy special! Maybe that's why I didn't find any of this funny, comparing the two.

Laughing AT HER; not Her jokes
kpanditrao27 July 2022
Gawd, this show was absolute joke. Idk how this kinda stuff gets on to Netflix. We did laugh watching this but we were laughing AT HER cringeworthy antics more than her jokes. It has hilarious to see how unfunny jokes were. She was taking pauses after the punchlines but hardly anyone in audience were actually laughing.

Unfortunate

I feel like this was some kind of rebound-revenge special following her broken engagement. The first 20 minutes were especially rough...

Whitney, you're better than this. Cute boots though.

Part of the 'Ladies Who Holler' Comedy Festival
genious-354133 August 2022
I prefer the old Whitney where she would only yell the punchline - so that we knew where the funny was. It was like her own personal version of an applause sign and a laugh track. But now, she starts out yelling and mugging. Sadly, comedy specials seem to be rife with this now: Iliza Schlessinger, Kevin Hart, etc. Some people like to refer to them as being 'high energy' but it's just exhausting and it seems to be a tool and a tactic to use when the material isn't really there. This is what Robin Williams did for years and everybody was fooled by it. But go back and watch it now and you'll realize it was all a smokescreen. You're better off watching the latest Bill Burr special. Or Tig Notaro's last special.

Couldn't finish it
p-beatriz995 August 2022
This one just didn't do it for me, left at 47 minutes remaining. I thought she was just cringy, out of breath most of the time, laughing at her own jokes while the crowd just awkwardly laughs... that's about it.

Ummm just not funny
smith-miq27 July 2022
I have seen All her other specials she's good, this just flops. Audience were very quiet which is weird, not sure if the Audio was just turned down but it seemed quiet. Also she seemed to be out of breath a lot of the time.

She just seemed to play it very safe in this special.

Skip it.

Basically just terrible.
john-676037 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I'm sure some of her jokes could've been funny if she would've worked on her timing ?? But then don't most professional comics record their specials after having rehearsed and perfected The jokes and the timing and the punchlines?

Not trying to be a square but I swear that she was just coked up because everything was just way too fast. Waaaaayyyyyy too fast. Just terrible timing and when the jokes are barely funny then your timing better be damn good.

And like so many you've seen before, if you know what I'm talking about, she was trying to catch her breath the whole time - she was moving too fast - I honestly think she was just coked up. I don't think the material was all that good but I think it was better than the two star review that I just gave. I think the performance was zero stars and the material was four so I evened it out at two. Just bad. Like "why allow it to be published/aired?" Bad. So bad.

Also totally completely expected - pussy and sex vulgarity jokes - Fine, I'm not offended, But when I'm 100% sure that those are coming maybe start with something different and sprinkle those in instead of starting with the same old material for like 25 minutes and then going into you know life and whatever else, (but still with horrible timing)?

Idk. I was completely let down.

Just terrible, it's a new verson of Jeff Garlin's thoughts "when you see someone moving around like that on stage, I will bet you every penny there not funny"

Cringy, hard to watch..
jroy-8471010 August 2022
This was nearly unwatchable. Awkward audience, Whitney seemed uncomfortable and the "jokes" just weren't connecting. I know she can be funny but it seems she played it safe, staying on the side of not funny.

Overcooked
arasvebra28 July 2022
I've liked her previous specials, so I'd like to chalk this boring performance to working over the same material for too long during the rona between specials. Quit after twenty minutes, tried to continue next day but no better.
