A new favorite, I will own this film someday

I saw this film at a festival after seeing its breathtaking imagery in the trailer. i thought this film could be great. I didn't know what it was about, but it looked AMAZING. and it was. Mike Simpson's camera-work transports you to Taiwann, & you quickly fall in love with the tiny country. I love the shots of the stores, the people, their pets. It's a well-written, imaginative take on Faulkner's As I Lay Dying, & like in Faulkner, the protagonists are wayward, hopelessly flawed, stunted but ultimately endearing. It is a subtly funny and touching story. Not for people who want traditional romance or action, though it has those elements. Ever since I saw it, I just want to watch it again - for the colors, the music/sounds, and the characters. It is exquisite and nuanced with the mood and charm of Y Tu Mama Tambien. If this world is just (& we know it's not) this movie will win awards. I hope Mitchell Jarrett keeps working & this gets wider release. It deserves to be seen.
