Eggcellet!

Warning: Spoilers
... Funny, Cute, Deep...

Unlike some that claims it to be horror, it's fun and dramatic enough... I lol'd with the Hard Boiled egg that is tough!

It's the nature of food to be eaten! The final is satisfactory! I wish there were more stuff like this for kids, so they could learn something and still be fun for adults to watch.

Although, the narrative will be lost on kids they can watch it along adults with no problem (only mild cartoon violence)

I highly recommend it on netflix as a pass time that you don't need to commit to big plots or complex plots, fun innocent and cute.

. A Big YES!! .

Existential, bizarre and visually stunning

Warning: Spoilers
The production value in this show is incredible - the baby chick and egg - have stunning live action sequences. The visuals and effects are superb.

But it's just so very very weird - on one hand I admire it for being genuinely different, and I was very put off by most of the characters and the inciting incidents of each episode.

The lead is a vaguely suicidal, resigned/dour - raw egg, who is being forced to search for his mommy with his carton-mate/sister a happy-go-lucky goal-oriented baby chick. The egg is utterly convinced his death is a forgone conclusion, and he's ready for it. The chick is plucky.

Their adventures are existential nightmare fuel, being trapped in a sushi bar, being flung out a window.... it's all very grim, yet manic and hopeful all at once.

Strongly recommended for fans of animation - there are scenes in this weird little show that are artful.

Brilliant

A cynical, very blasé egg yolk and an optimistic and goal-oriented chick (who is insanely cute) go on a thrilling adventure to find their mom.

I was surprised by the humour, quite sarcastic and cynical, that will delight adult watchers, as well as the deep, existential topics discussed. I was not expecting to be touched and question my own existence by this kind of animation, but here we are and what a pleasure! It's dark at time, humorous, a bit weird and definitely an excellent watch.

The visuals are truly stunning, kudos to the animators, and Gudetama's and Shakipiyo's voices are perfect.

I would love to see a season 2!

Eggciting Adventure!
bmandela19 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
A chick and an egg head out to find their mommy. This show is just spectacular. I have just bingewatched it and can genuinely not wish for a better way to spend my last weekend just before Christmas. The voice acting is just spectacular. Every voice suits perfectly. And to think that I just bumped into it concidentally, then I am pretty sure Netflix's algorithm has studied and understood me, to the core. Imagine the adventure of an egg that's trying to not get rotten, while walking in the streets of Tokyo. Imagine an egg running for Prime Minister of Japan and actually winning. This show is an epic adventure that will give you some good laughs and thrillls in almost equal measure.

What did I just watch
cklafol-846-83645617 January 2023
I have almost no words to describe this movie. It was an absolute waste of time and internet space, yet I was transfixed to the screen and watched every minute of each episode all in one go. I wish I could have that hour and a half of my life back and at the same time wish that every hour and a half of my life could be spent like this. I swear they let a three year old come up with the characters and plot. And what the Prime Minister?? Just the absolute most random things going on at any given moment, and not of it makes sense. Gudetama's lines are spot-on, never taking the story too seriously. The fact that every egg yolk has very well-defined glutes and nothing else just adds to the absurdity.

THIS is the show to watch when you're depressed, stressed, angry, happy, sad, anything. It makes no sense and perfect sense.

Absolutely Amazing!!!

Warning: Spoilers
It was by far one of the best shows. It was about a suicidal and lazy egg and a optimistic chick. Not going to lie, some of the characters freaked me out but it was so funny. And the ending couldn't have been more perfect. Gudetama being eaten by a old woman. And then, being brought back to life by the same chicken. How inspiring. I relate to this egg so much (being lazy and wanting to do nothing all day). I personally would recommend watching this show. It has tons of different story lines and plots. And a egg running for president. How much better can it get? So, to sum it up, Gudetama it a great netflix show and I would truly recommend to watch.

Almost impossible to describe to those unfamiliar with Gudetama...and quite cute.

"Gudetama: An Eggcellent Adventure" is a Japanese show broken into segments of 10-16 minutes on Netflix. It really is an odd film and will certainly NOT appeal to everyone. After all, Gudetama is a Sanrio character who is a cracked egg...and a lazy one at that!

The show consists of an adorable hatchling running about while wearing a pair of pants made of the egg in which it was recently hatched. This super-adorable chick is in search of its mother and takes lazy and indifferent Gudetama along for the adventure.

I really liked this show. But I also was familiar with the uber-weird character already....others might just be too shocked at its weirdness to know what to think! Overall, a cute show for kids and one that will appeal to SOME adults...provided they appreciate this sort of strangeness. Very well animated and adorable.

The famous egg from Japan is back, this time with a short 10 part adventure for Netflix. Following a CGI animated cracked lazy egg who has come to life and his friend Shakipiyo, a fertilized hatched chick, the two set off on an adventure to find their mom. Filmed in mostly live action environments with all the anthropomorphized food being CGI (including some full grown chickens), any of the human characters were acted really poorly (even for a children's' show) and the plot left a bit to be desired, mostly in that I wasn't looking for one but they tried to create one anyway. I would have preferred less justification on the purpose of their eggsistence and just got on with the cute adventures but to remind I'm a grown man criticizing a show made for children. All in all, it was very cute, and I think kids would really enjoy it.

Adorable mascot, Funny lines, Outstanding scores, Relatable storyline & Very educational
sisubalan25 February 2023
Adorable mascots with human interactions. Full with funny lines and ridiculously goofy scenes. Great original song and somewhat educational and relatable storyline.

I am very familiar with gudetama from few years back based on its advertisement and shorts appearance. Although till this time, still not a big fan of the voice cast for the gudetama. I really love the idea of making gudetama to be something that is always lazy and unmotivated since its an unborn chick (basically raw egg).

Meanwhile, im not familiar with other characters especially piyo but the voice casting for the character was excellent. The storyline was straight forward and simple. Can be categorised as adventure and comedy. In fact, it is full of sarcasms and jokes.

Sleak and clean animation style by cooperating real life with 2.5d animated figures. Excellent sound scores especially on the intro and cute outro. Very family/ kids friendly. Very memorable mascot. Highly recommended.

Man this was fun

Now this was something that I could totally agree with, it was cute and sometimes funny and I just had a lot of fun watching it. I'm kinda like Gudetama honestly, I saw myself many times haha. I actually did a voice memo story recently and my character was hungry and I noted that I sounded like Gudetama on multiple occasions, I believe I had even mentioned it in the recording. There was obviously some silly stuff here and there, but for the most part I loved it. I also thought it was super cute and funny that they gave him a bottom haha and that he tended to wiggle it about at times. The ending with all those newly hatched Gude's was hilarious cause their all so lazy and carefree, just as the main story one was. Will definitely watch this again sometime.

this was surprisingly interesting

Warning: Spoilers
Constantly watching deep-thinking type of films or shows and magic and super heros, or thrillers and killers, this was refreshing to enjoy a very wholesome and cute animation. We have our cute characters of Gudetama with his Chikidee friend/kin as they journey from their resturant after discovering their life has just begun & not knowing who their mothers are & the chikidee convinces Gudetama to accompany it into the open world and encountering lots of danger, adventures and different characters, their cute voices will soothe your mind and flood your brain with dopamine as u watch so this is a must watch! Its not a comedy animation show but its charm n appeal lies in its adorable characters & their very relatable personalities and mindset.

Behind all the kiddish, simplistic looks of the show. It looks simplistic & silly but I have come to discover it holds hidden meaning with metaphors beneath all the basic & kiddish looks of the show. I feel like in a way this show tries to put a shine on depression but in a less dark view for ppl to see, then you have a mild look jnto the topic of addiction, as well as I feel the main character Gudetama the egg yolk can speak to every single person because at one point in time in our lives st least I am confident we all can relate too Gudetama in the fact it just has no dreams, no hopes, no goals, no energy to continue daily, no will to live basically and then the Chikidee that gives Gudetama moral support and encouragement is a good example of us all having that 1 special friend or family member that refuses to give up on us and constantly striving to motivate us or push us along or carry us with them in the hopes they can keep us going.

Theirs lots of metaphors & topics touched upon that can be looked upon as having a connection to us in our daily lives and i feel like Gudetama n the chikidee being so young n lost & having no parents is very relatable to what kids who are in orphanages feel like too. They are young n feel powerless but in their hearts they wish to find their real mother, just as the main characters strived to do and though in real life young kids wont be able to accomplish this journey till their older.. but nonetheless this show can inspire them that never giving up hope in trying to unlock their past could lead to sadness or happiness as the characters have themselves endured.. but regardless the outcomes its their personal choice & the ability to choose that matters the most.

GUDETAMA: AN EGGCELLANT ADVENTURE: Food Based Comedy
Jinxxa_Wolf9 March 2024
GUDETAMA: AN EGGCELLANT ADVENTURE: This series is an adaptation of the Japanese Gudetama anime / manga comics, about lazy egg Gudetama and his sibling Chick who go searching for their mother. I am a big fan of the original Gudetama shorts, and therefore can appreciate the comedy here. Food humor is not for everyone, as they (the personafied food based characters) often rot, get thrown away or get eaten, but it was a hilarious adaptation of the original character, full of slapstick humor and even philosophy. The graphics are really gorgeous and the characters all color and memorable.

"A lethargic, empathetic road movie about finding one's parents - for everyone who just wants to laze about. Having resigned itself to the fact that it will just end up on someone's plate, Gudetama just wants to be lazy all the time."

While this series is suitable for children there are some material that might be better suited for older children, teens and adults. Overall, this was a very entertaining and funny show, both light-hearted and deep, with both dark and slapstick humor, heavy on Japanese flavor, that a follows foods journey around Japan, dealing with family and friendship, life and death.

I thought this was a dark humor show
garabedian12319 December 2022
So wow the first episode opens up so dark. But humorously dark. I thought this is how the whole season would play out, but nope,, only the first super short episode is like this. The rest of the show seems to be a super utterly boring rotating around japanese restarurant talking about personality and individualty...which is not where i thought the show was going.

But how loong can you stay in one place talking about the same thing. And be boring and inconsistent about it.

What is alive? Eggs, chickens..cooked food? An egg is alive as an egg but its also alive as pudding. So now nothing makes sense.

Not Watchable For Me
jessicamodzelewski26 January 2023
The filter on the main protagonist's voice makes it difficult to understand what he says half of the time.

Furthermore, the same character's cynicism comes across as mean-spirited and rude, not charming at all.

The dichotomy of him and the chick does not work as he just seems like a bully.

None of the jokes landed. I have laughed at children's shows before but these jokes were more stale than the ones on popicle sticks.

There was no charm, no humor and no reason to watch another episode.

Rated 4/10 because the animation of the egg is well done but thr chick's eyes have lighting issues and look creepy in some shots.

Horror!!!
lisannanl16 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
A Big No!!!

This movie is a horror. Gudetama finished his life in a stomach. Firstly I thought this movie is made by vegans, but nope! They personify an egg, which is so cute along the movie, then at the end, they give him a chance to choose the way to be killed. In other words, Gudetama committed suicide (he had chosen his own "glorious" death by ending up as a king dish)

I couldn't believe that the film 's rating is for 7 years old.

You had better watch it before deciding to watch with your kids. Maybe I was deceived by the trailer, it goes not as I expected. I was totally shocked and disappointed after the 10 episodes.
