Throughout the episode Gibbs and all other Marines are seen wearing the camouflaged Battle Dress Uniform. At the end of the episode Gibbs lays flowers at the grave of PFC Joan Matteson. Her date of death is April 3, 1977. 5 years before the BDUs would be issued to the Marine Corps.
Gibbs sends Ziva to get the kids off the bus that has a bomb on it while he attempts to disarm Osman. It's not shown that she did get the kids off, but nothing is done to stop people from casually walking by the bus.
When Tony is in the church, he misquotes Strother Martin's iconic line from "Cool Hand Luke." Tony says, "...a failure to communicate." The line is often misquote that way. It is actually, "...failure to communicate." As a movie buff, Tony would know this.
