This game caught my attention for the first time and it seemed that lately it became fashionable in recent years. I tried it and although I liked it, I think there are things that could have been improved. Basically it is like any rhythm game, so this does not need much explanation, although something that I personally never liked are the rhythm games that force you to remember a specific button when you see some "strange" shape on the screen, And although it is not that difficult since they are only 4 shapes at the beginning, then in the hard difficulty you must combine two buttons. I must say that the game's tutorial there are things that remain unexplained, and while the game tells you to look at the instruction manual, this is already 1999, we are not in the era of the Atari 2600, NES or SNES where this used to be common. I think one of the main problems with this game was his own ambition. Because the entire game fits on the PS1 ram, you can play with any other music CD, however, in part, this was used as an excuse to trim the overall game content. There are only 6 songs by default, which means that if you are good, the game can be completed in less than half an hour, which would possibly make it one of the shortest games on the PS1.
Something that if I must praise is the artistic style, it is very unique and the main character is quite charm! (Although to be honest, this was done this way to get the game on the ram, as well as being super simple vectors that make me think that this game could have run on any PC or console in the early 90's.
Although due to its extreme simplicity and poor difficulty curve as well as a great lack of content it would deserve a 5, I think I will give it a 6 due to how innovative it was to be able to play with any music CD (that even today rhythm games fail to do), although this means an excuse to make the game shorter, but whatever. Vib Ribbon is one of those interesting experiments, but in the process, they left some things to polish.
I highly recommend it if you are a fan of the genre.
