“Bridgerton” Season 3 is off to a steamy hot start.
The third season of the Shondaland period drama drew 45.1 million views over its first four days of availability, according to Netflix, easily finishing first on the streamer’s Global Top 10 list. Take that, Tom Brady roast.
It was the biggest week — by quite a bit — for any series on Netflix since the streamer changed its core metric from hours viewed to views in mid-June 2023.
The first four “Bridgerton” Season 3 episodes reached number 1 in 78 countries and the Top 10 in 92, Netflix said. The next four episodes premiere on June 13; try not to obsess over the big cliffhanger between now and then.
The third season of “Bridgerton” also brought the first two back to (some semblance of) their former glory. “Bridgerton” Seasons 1 and 2 both returned to Netflix’s Top 10 TV (in any language) list in the week ahead of Season 3. They did even better during Season 3’s premiere week.

Just a few minutes into the first episode of season six of "Black Mirror," titled "Joan Is Awful," the titular character - played by Annie Murphy - walks into a bar to meet her ex-boyfriend. Softly in the background, music plays, the singer crooning, "You can blame me, try to shame me." The song isn't really important to the scene, or even the overall episode plot, but eagle-eared fans of the long-running technology-is-terrifying series from Charlie Brooker certainly may recognize it.
The track in question is a 1964 song performed by Irma Thomas, originally written by Jeannie Seely and Randy Newman (of "Toy Story"–tune fame) and called "Anyone Who Knows What Love Is (Will Understand)." It is also a favorite of the "Black Mirror" team: "Joan Is Awful" is the sixth episode of the series that the song has appeared in - it pops up once a season.

George A. Romero’s 1968 classic Night of the Living Dead is in the public domain, so a lot of people have made their own sequels and remakes to the film over the decades, put out their own releases of it, colorized it, animated it, etc. It’s a property that has never been dormant… but these days it seems like its undead ghouls are livelier than ever. The George A. Romero Foundation and the Cinedigm-backed Bloody Disgusting are making a podcast sequel called The Dead. Nikyatu Jusu is directing a film sequel that will be released by MGM. The growing amount of homeless, independently made documentaries has made film festivals like Hot Docs, arguably more important than ever before. Many docus that premiered at Sundance 2023 but have yet to find distribution are part of the Toronto-based documentary festival’s lineup, which in turn allows those titles to stay on buyers’ radars.
But corporate consolidation, along with streamers’ current mandate for nonfiction content that fits into one of three boxes – celebrity, true crime, or sports – means that many docu filmmakers will eventually have to turn to non-traditional distribution to get their films seen outside the fest circuit.
Tracy Droz Tragos’ docu “Plan C” follows a grassroots organization fighting to expand access to abortion pills across the United States. The timely film premiered at Sundance in January, but despite good reviews, Tragos hasn’t found distribution for “Plan C.”

The “Emily in Paris” actress recalled the awkward moment while promoting her new show “Beef” on “The Jennifer Hudson Show”.
“So, there’s another character in this show played by Justin Min who happens to my second cousin,” she began. “The amazing showrunner, Sunny, he was considering me to play this character’s pregnant wife. Hugh Grant seems to have no problem revealing his candid thoughts, no matter how offensive they may be to others.
In his latest remarks, the British actor recalled making fun of his former co-star Drew Barrymore’s singing while working on their film “Music & Lyrics”.
“I’m auto-tuned a bit, but not as much as some,” Grant, 62, recently told Wired in an interview while recounting his singing in the 2007 rom-com.
“Drew Barrymore was in that film with me and I don’t think she’d mind me saying her singing is just horrendous,” he confessed. “I’ve heard dogs bark better than she sings.”

Brianne Howey's big, beautiful brown eyes and her megawatt smile have earned her comparisons to Academy Award-winner Julia Roberts, and she takes them in stride. "It's the greatest compliment anyone can receive," the star of Netflix's hit show "Ginny & Georgia" tells Popsugar. "I don't know how she would feel about it, but I feel incredible." And while Howey, 33, definitely did grow up idolizing rom-com royalty like Roberts and Cameron Diaz, her first acting idols targeted a different demo. "I was obsessed with watching Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen everything," she continues. "Every Tuesday we'd go to Blockbuster, and I'd get a new Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen movie, but I never even connected the dots that they were actors . . . It was just pure entertainment."
Howey didn't fall in love with acting until she started doing improv and plays in high school, and didn't actually take it seriously until...

Entertainment One (eOne) is producing and financing a live filming of the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Come From Away.

It has begun. The steady trickle of films about Labradors who save Christmas, American girls marrying European princes, and parents learning that their kids are more important than their jobs, is with us. Art Wolff, known for his directorial work on projects like “Seinfeld,” died of congestive heart failure on Monday at the age of 82. His daughter Juliet Wolff confirmed his death at Mount Sinai West in New York City to Variety.
The theater and television director got his start on “Search for Tomorrow,” the soap opera that ran from 1951 to 1986. But his most notable directing gig came when he worked on the pilot episode for “Seinfeld.” The 1989 episode, titled “”The Seinfeld Chronicles” or “Good News, Bad News,” earned enough favorable reviews for NBC to order the first season.
Other projects Wolff directed included episodes of “The Tracey Ullman Show,” “The Paula Poundstone Show” and “It’s Garry Shandling’s Show.”
Wolff also directed for the theater throughout his lifetime. At the Ensemble Studio Theatre in New York, the director worked on Shel Silverstein plays, including a version of “The Lady or the Tiger” that starred Richard Dreyfuss.

Molly Smith Metzler wrote the script. Reese Witherspoon, Bruna Papandrea and Natalie Krinsky will produce. Lemmon will executive produce.
The book tells the story of the creation by the U.S. Army Special Operations Command of a pilot program that allowed elite women soldiers on the battlefield with Green Berets and Army Rangers in Afghanistan in 2010. After a stellar October full of spooky flicks and other great releases, Netflix has already come out swinging in November, too. The initial few drops of the month have brought a solid collection of fresh content guaranteed to be filled with at least a few things that you’re going to be anxious to add to your list, such as the hilarious family comedy Paul Blart: Mall Cop, unnerving sci-fi flick Prospect, and the Keanu Reeves thriller Knock Knock.
But if you’re feeling a little impatient and want to begin planning out your December schedule, too, you’ll love this good news – Netflix has already announced a pretty nice selection of additions coming next month, including a handful of highly-anticipated originals.

Please do not adjust the calendar settings on your Internet-connected device. No, you have not fallen into some kind of transcendental wormhole in which time is but a mere suggestion. That headline is correct. It is October 7 and Netflix has announced its 2020 Holiday season lineup.
For starters: shame on you, Netflix. Let the spooky season breathe. But given that this will be a most unusual holiday season due to the coronavirus pandemic, I suppose we can give the streaming giant a pass this time for wanting to get a head start on some Christmas cheer.
Just as Netflix’s Halloween offerings were dubbed “Netflix and Chills”, so too does the holiday season get its own Netflix-friendly branding. Get ready for “Netflix: Here for the Holidays.” And here is a helpful graphic with some of the major titles.
Netflix’s holiday season headliner is certainly The Christmas Chronicles: Part Two, premiering on Nov.

Netflix has canceled “Ashley Garcia: Genius in Love” and “The Big Show Show,” starring WWE Superstar The Big Show, and after one season apiece, TheWrap has learned.
The streaming service will release one more episode of both multi-cam sitcoms this December, as standalone Christmas specials for “Ashley Garcia” and “Big Show Show” had already been filmed ahead of the pandemic, an individual with knowledge of the situation tells TheWrap.
