The best COD in a long time.
asierfernandezpinero30 October 2022
Call of duty: Modern Warfare 2 is one of the best games in the saga and can reach the level of Black ops 1 and Modern Warfare 3.

For a long time in the saga of Call of Duty, who did not see good and fun missions. The character development is not bad at all, but the one who gets the character star in this video game is Alejandro Vargas. In all the scenes in which he appears he is a great character and also his voice is very good, speaking in Spanish and English.

Multiplayer section: The multiplayer is fun, the weapons are good, but I hate that this game also has Skill base match making, because that ruins the experience for me and I hope that in another COD it will not be repeated.

Special Ops: Same as Modern Warfare 2019, fun, but after playing it for a while you get bored.

Spoilers: if you haven't finished the campaign don't read this, I'll also skip some not so important parts:

The campaign starts well, we play as Ghost and we kill Ghorbrani (fun fact, this guy actually existed). We later learn that Hassan, Ghorbrani's second-in-command, has US missiles. And who provided these missiles was Shepherd, who works alongside the Shadow Company. And here is the point that I liked least about the MW 2 campaign, why they have to make Shepherd a traitor again. This game could make an honorable character out of Shepherd and end up making him a villain again. Well, let's get on with the campaign. We also found out that the nameless man is actually a woman named Valeria, an old friend of Alejandro's, but it doesn't last long, because they stop her quickly, but she gives us important information for the plot. We also learn that the Shadow Company is evil, which is why. Price forms the Ghost team, which can be fan service, but I like this fan service. Next, we killed Graves, the leader of the Shadow Company. And lastly we need Hassan, who we ended up killing with Ghost and at the same time saving Ghost. The end of the game shows us another fan service, and what is this, since Makarov, the villain of the previous MW trilogy, is named, and I also like this fan service, so there is nothing wrong. But in the post credit scenes we are shown the scene of no Russian, the strongest mission of the entire saga, but nothing is seen either, it is only a reference to this mission.

Conclusion: The best COD campaing, the multiplayer is fine, but do not include in the next game the Skill base match making and the special operations: good in the first hours and boring in the following ones.

Getting back to the good old days
Nikostrange1 November 2022
Having the title MW2 they knew that if they mess up nothing will be left of COD because the OG is still one of the best if not even the Goat of the series.

Gratfully they made an amazing with an amazing Campaign like MW2 back in 2009.

Graphics in the cutscenes start looking like a real movie and the gameplay was good overall.

With MW2 you will at least have a 9 hour long Story(played on Veteran). From my point of view, this is a near perfect COD game.

Does it surpass the MW from 2019?

By far!

Story 9/10 Gameplay 8.5/10 Cutscenes 10/10 Graphics 10/10 Missions 8.75/10 Ending 9/10

Overall 9/10.

Too much stealth
littlewoode1 January 2023
I was really excited when getting this game. I absolutely hate it to bits. There is way too much stealth and not enough shooting. I rather the older games where you go into battles and have fun. These games have gone too far now and should go back to when you just shot people. These games are just too hard now and should go back to being fun and simple. Hopefully the creators make next years game a lot simpler and actually enjoyable. I haven't even finished the game and I don't won't to. This is the worst call of duty game to date and should have never been made. I give it a 1/10 and this game sucks.

New era of call of duty
qdbfjsmyvr28 October 2022
Call of duty modern warfare II is an advanced and improved MW19 game !

In my opinion its the best COD game since MW3, I will put it at the same level as MW2 2009, they put so much effort in this game and it shows. It succeed where battlefield 2042 Failed, it's definitely reviving COD Licence.

When it comes to the overall campaign, multiplayer experience, it's great !! It's a breath of fresh air from Cold War and Vanguard, lots of guns Customisation and possibilities, new far less boring weapon camo system , Guns Sounds are very realistic, a step ahead from MW19, it's actually an innovative game and I hope they will continue this road,

But anyway It's incredible what an extra year development can do, they should allow developers to express themselves more like this in the future, it benefits for everyone! Industry and gamers we are !!!

Fantastic game....but....
Scar388 January 2023
It's nowhere near long enough, I expected it to be much longer.

The graphics and gameplay are phenomenal and it's so good to see familiar characters back, especially Ghost, who is awesome, and the ending set up the sequel which I very much look forward to being released.

Which brings me onto my complaint about greedy Sony.

I paid £59 for this game, yes it was brilliant and definitely worth the price I paid, but if I want to go online I have to pay extra? What's that about? Why are these companies so greedy, they are pricing people out of online gaming, it's disgusting and should be stopped.

Stop ripping people off.

Don't listen to the other reviews, they don't know what they are talking about
cknippa-6538228 November 2022
I played Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) and thoroughly enjoyed its campaign. The story was 10/10. However, the multiplayer was very campy. In the new game, the campaign keeps you on the edge of your seat with plot twists, jaw dropping moments, exceptional acting, and unforgettable missions. The amount of fun I had playing it is incredible. I couldn't put the controller down. People call the campaign "all over the place" and "poorly written", but they are stupid and can't understand what's going on. I strongly recommend this game for anyone who is thinking about buying it. The multiplayer is also the best since black ops 3.

Love it

I for one find very much comfort in playing call of duty multiplayer mostly the one where you collect money and try and win its fun once you get used to it and. The first time i ever heard about cod was on 2022/12/30 ive been a fan ever since my first time being curious about the actors is when i found out their names Elliot, neil, alain, bayardo,Samuel, maria, warren ,barry and Claudia are all my new favourite actors in the acting community all together my issue is that its a little complicated to sign up for the first time i sat there for 2 hours confused and googling how to long in but at the end i did it :)

not great, but not terrible.
largepizza-070809 November 2022
This game is really fun, it's got the classic call of duty gunplay which is pretty good and in my opinion the campaign was pretty enjoyable for the most part, although the stealth sections near the end could have been a little more fun and i found them to be pretty tedious because the crafting system wasn't really anything special. I got this game for the multiplayer though, and honestly i don't know if i like it or not. One one hand, the guns feel great and the new attachment system is refreshing, on the other hand the severe connectivity and optimization issues mixed in with quite a few bugs ruins the flow of the game for me. 6/10.

Good game better than vanguard
arielag-1539220 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This game is miles and I mean miles better than vanguard but that doesn't say much does it.well "call of duty modern warfare 2 is an 8 out of ten it's good not bad not amazing just good. The campaign was ok the gameplay was great but the story could literally jump of a cliff my favorite character was ghost and price the were badasses and spoilers the antagonist of mw2 is for the 100th time a generic arabic villian hassan zyani he sucked he was barely in the campaign and his goal is like every other generic cod villian invade the us.overall the campaign was ok 6/10 gameplay 3/10 story. Now the multiplayer was good the gameplay is amazing the guns feel great the graphics are good the maps are alright the modes are good but overall the multiplayer is good overall 8/10. So call of duty modern warfare 2 gets an 8/10.

Disappointing follow-up to the previous MW
gillesbaillieux12 November 2022
Despite the interesting new survival type missions and the sporadic dialogue options I didn't feel connected to any of the characters. Where MW1 dared to show the ugly side of war and made you care about characters like Farah, this MW doesn't really do any of that. Backstories aren't really explored and the villains don't get enough exposure to be truly hated or iconic in my opinion.

The previous game also promised to be a prequel to the existing series but this game seems to overwrite the established storyline, which is a confusing choice.

Overall the campaign is enjoyable and not terrible, but I expected a lot more and it doesn't live up to the previous installment.

Multiplayer is great fun though!

Great but not perfect
lukestowemma3 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I've being playing Call of Duty since day one and the way Call of Duty has been since the last few years I have to say that this is amazing. It's amazing when it comes to the campaign, it gave me Modern Warfare 2 (2009) vibes by brining back old characters and adding references of other old characters. I really enjoyed the missions they were fun as hell. When it comes to multiplayer that's she was things kinda go down hill. Maps are decent a few bad ones, guns are good a lot to chose from but MW2 2022 is one of the worst hit maker COD games I ever experienced. Special Ops is fun very realistic.

Highly disappointed.
mypaperdue3 November 2022
I think this particular Modern Warfare wasn't met for the players who simply want to play the campaign. Not only was it short but also poorly written. They jump around way too much with the story and it's kind of hard to keep up at times. Unlike their counter part of previous Modern Warfare where they stick to a simple story and easy to follow along. I am not exactly sure where they are headed with the story but I feel like this new booted version is no where near the original. Graphic is amazing on the PS5 platform, CGI is on point as well. I must say this though, as a fan who only interest in playing the campaign, the need for me to create an online account is simply not needed. Activision forced me to sign up with my email to their platform in order for me to play the campaign while being offline. This idea is dumb and completely unnecessary and I truly believe they will lose some fan for this going forward. I will never pre-order or buy another Modern Warfare game on the first release day going forward. I will wait a few months, read the review then decide if I want to buy it or not.

I'd give it 0 * if I could
jkeating-419916 January 2023
This game is horrible, easily the worst game I've ever bought and should be f2p ffs. The game crashes in campaign mode, Invasion and Ground War and Tier 1 constantly, anywhere from 10 to 30 percent of the matches I get into are ended by crashes if I run down the edge of the map or get several killed in quick succession. The grainy graphics glitch that ruins vision, the weapon unlock and progression is stupid and arbitrary af, the new respawns are horrible, often literally respawning me RIGHT ON TOP OF MY OWN BODY and just giving the same person I was just killed by an easy kill, the Border crossing map is garbage in any 6v6, basically just a road with a few dozen cars on it that just cause multiple deaths via explosion, people are obviously hacking and nothing is done about it. Imagine releasing a game that doesn't even run without constant crashing and not FIXING THAT MAJOR PROBLEM before adding a ton of extra stuff to the game. It was also stupid to tie WZ to this and force us to download a ton of data we don't need if we have no interest in Warzone and DMZ. On top of that, there's so many chickensh!t campers in the game it ruins most matches that don't end in a crash.

Incredibly disappointing, and not worth half the price
grayson-0977419 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This game has amazing graphics and did a great job with the realism when it comes to weapons handling, but that's about where the positives end unfortunately. The campaign gameplay is just not fun for the majority of the missions. The missions where you are stuck with no weapons and have to craft items with found materials are possibly the worst missions in any COD campaign to date. Somehow you can make a smoke bomb out of a glass jar and a rope, or make a lock pick with string and a fan blade, yet you can't craft a prison shank? The AI is god awful, and the shotguns are way too powerful. Other than the weapons handling, this game is incredibly unrealistic, even for call of duty, yet simultaneously not fun. I understand sacrificing realism for fun gameplay, but that's not the case here. Plus the villains were not memorable whatsoever. The story leaves much to be desired. The only missions that was unique AND fun in my opinion was the one where you use the cameras to lead ghost through the compound. This game likes to give you the illusion of choice, such as different dialogue options in conversations, but in reality they don't matter at all. Totally pointless and doesn't impact the story in any way depending on what you choose to say.

As for multiplayer, there is a lot of potential, but it's all thrown away by the skill based match making system. Just like the previous 3 COD games. It punishes those who are good at the game, so when you do well in a match, you then get put in lobbies where you will not do well or have fun. This makes it so that ~60% of the games you play are just painful. I wasted $70 and until SBMM is removed from the series, I will not be buying another call of duty game again. I absolutely do not recommend anyone to buy this game.

Poorly developed
Adamjordanhughes30 October 2022
The servers don't work on launch, but that's the new staple of a cod franchise. You can't play with friends. Weapon progression is very slow. The climb over wall feature is horribly done. There are some decent maps, and there are some awful maps, the border crossing one is the worst. The forced crossplay and sbmm feels like something nobody askes for or wanted. Refunded it within 24 hours. Sad day as a childhood cod fan. Hopefully the warzone 2 will have a better launch and be more engaging. I think the recent controversy and lawsuits against blizzard and activision have really lowered the caliber of devs working for the company.

Disappointing
dansoemb29 October 2022
The campaign was pretty good, but the multiplayer side of things is a complete mess. The User interface (UI) is all over the place and not easy to navigate. They've experimented with a new perk system which is a complete shambles. The gunsmith has become unnecessarily complicated; for some reason you need to use other guns to unlock attachments for the gun that you are using or want to use. It is completely baffling to me why they've changed so much (for the worse) after the success of MW2019.

As of writing this you are currently unavailable to check your statistics such as wins, kill/death ratio so on and so forth; I imagine they will add this in near future as this has been a staple of call of duty for many years. There are also a number of game modes missing most notably the hardcore mode which a lot of people are extremely frustrated by. Overall I give this game a 5/10 would be higher if I was only reviewing the campaign, but the online multiplayer has been lacklustre to say the least.

Just as crap as it's predecessor
louish-9048019 December 2022
No surprise to see the follow up from MW2019 to be just as bad as the first game, a very poor campaign, matched by an extremely equally poor multiplayer. Same old story as MW2019, terrible maps, no one moves, no dead silence restricts movement, a literal copy and paste of MW2019. If it wasn't for vanguard, MW2019 and MW2 could arguably be the 2 worst cod games to date. Just a very disappointing multiplayer overall. I don't think Infinity Ward should be allowed to take control of another cod game, as they've arguably made some of the worst cods to date.

Being Cod ghosts Infinite warfare MW2019 MW2.

Amazing graphics, attention to detail, and a good campaign. That's it!!!
nsf42618 November 2022
Game runs like absolute s**t. MW2 2009 runs better! Save your money! Also if you are a decent player SBMM will rail you over and over. Casual play is nonexistent. Biggest disappointment yet from a "fun game" perspective. I have been with cod since 2007 and this is just sad. The greatness is there but it's ruined by poor development and things like sbmm. Imagine if this game had the matchmaking from the OG game. People would enjoy it more. Don't they read the comments on EVERY SINGLE social media post they make? People have been asking for the same things since 2019 and Activison just seems to not give a s**t because the game makes money. It is just sad. Now I'm gonna go play MW2 2009 and have fun. Cheers everyone!

Camp of Duty
braydonwiswell30 October 2022
I don't think I've been in a match yet that didn't have a normal player that doesn't hide behind a corner and sit there, roast some marshmallows, tell a ghost story, and just wait for a player to happen to walk by. Camping isn't fun. It's stupid, unskilled and boring. Why am I complaining about this? This is a mechanic. Sure. So, why isn't there game modes with small maps? Like shipment 24/7. That's what I played on MW because I was getting sick of everyone just camping. Where are those game modes? Enough about that though.

A lot of the maps were poorly made. You know that map with all those cars? I don't think I have to explain myself to help understand why it was made horribly. And there's many more maps to go with just that one.

Campaign? Solid. One complaint: not long enough. I beat it in one day on the hardest difficulty.

Where is rust?

Where is terminal?

You're remaking an original game, so why not bring those legendary maps back? I don't understand.

Didn't enjoy this other than the campaign, I genuinely feel like I wasted money on it.

I'm seeing a lot of SJW's defending this game by saying "just get better at it. Stop wishing for old cod back" Well, I'm not wishing old cod was back. The argument of getting good falls apart on itself when everyone besides you is just hiding behind a corner waiting. That's not getting good, that's being lame.

Just because a video game looks incredible, doesn't make it a good game. Example: Max Payne 1 and 2 were amazing games with pretty raunchy graphics. Max Payne 3 had outstanding graphics and mechanics, yet it was the worst out of all of them.

My point: don't put all of your effort into graphics and mechanics and half a$$ everything else. Fix this video game.

Mediocre sequel
ansku-123 December 2022
I really enjoy MW but I don't know how one can make so many bad choices while having an almost perfect game as prequel. The only thing they needed to do was to upgrade the engine, graphics, maps, maybe the story and add a few new things here and there. It seems they replaced people in the development team by inexperienced game designers as numerous flaws and extremely poor design choices were made, deliberately. First and foremost the UI makes my head boiling. The prequel's UI was smooth, easy and quick to navigate without many clicks and changing screens. Now we have to deal with a convoluted mess across several screens. It blows my mind how one can design and QA seriously approve such an UI. Same applies to the game map in which icons are harder to see as most of them remain white. It is much harder now to navigate the rest of the team and more words are required. Once killed a comeback in Battle Royale is virtually impossible due to the lack of money, buy stations and loadouts. So once dead one can leave and start a new round to safe time and frustration.

The game is good but some wrong priorities were at play here. For instance, they rather put out a Rocket League modus than fixing the game and bugs. Again an unfinished product was released and now we are waiting it to be fixed and ready as promised.

Campaign mode is a waste
pm-griffiths-956-4451923 January 2023
The overhead for this game is ridiculous. It took over 4 hours to download the update to the core game. And then another 2 hours each for two packs for the campaign mode. When I had finally downloaded enough for the game to play, I completed 8 of the 17 missions in 2 hours at Regular. Not very challenging at all. While a little fun, nothing amazing. Pretty bloody generic. And the mazes for each mission were pretty small. In short - the campaign mode looks like it's being completely abandoned in favour of the more simple coop and multiplayer modes.

Really a pity because the campaigns I have played in the past were fun. Now it's no longer in the business model. Just not worth it anymore. Especially the bandwidth to download the damn thing!

This game makes me so angry!!
thijslammerse20 September 2023
The multi player is just horrible, it is so inconsistent.

One time your 1st with a kd of five the next game you make head shots but dont get a kill. Just horrible, it seems the better your connection is the more lag you get. Further more why should you ever want cross play with console and pc?! This is so incredibly unfair, the other team will constantly make headshots and you wont even be able to pull your trigger. Im a calm person by nature but this game brings out the Devil in me and I suspect satan is in on it to make people so angry as possible in this game.

I will never buy a COD ever again.

Contender for worst COD game
nuclearbuttcat6 September 2023
Modern Warfare II had the potential to be the best game in the franchise. They had the chance to listen to listen to the fans and make game-saving changes. But no. They did none of that. They took a complete 180 from what people want from the franchise.

The Bad:
  • The worst crossovers in human history
  • SBMM is STILL in the game
  • Reload cancel had been removed
  • Weapon balance is non-existent
  • The worst controls in the franchise
  • Multiplayer maps are pro camper
  • The majority of the actually good weapons are locked behind a pricey paywall
  • Voice chat monitoring to "combat toxicity"
  • The campaign is beyond garbage
  • Unrealistically loud footsteps
  • Warzone 2
  • Pay-to-Win DLC

The good:
  • Classic characters return in the campaign.

If you love your sanity, then this game is not for you. They have a chance to turn this around for the better with MWIII. Play the older games if you respect the franchise.

Worst game to date
fennell-118113 August 2023
The original MW2 was the best game of the series in my opinion even with tiny maps. This adaption is absolutely brutal. Because I paid for it I'm trying to get my monies worth and play it but it's possibly the worst game I've ever played. Last game I played we started a match several of us immediately fell through the map and died and that's just one of the many issues with this game. I'll never spend a dime on the series after being ripped off with this pile of game. It's sad to think that the developers and their bosses thought this was okay to release and take our money for. It shows how little they think of us.

Better Than 2019 But Not By Much
alkhawammarie29 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Modern Warfare II is definitely an improvement on the previous title but not by much at the moment.

The campaign was an exhilarating ride from start to finish with interesting characters and memorable locations. The cartel aspect was easily the greatest part of the games setting and will be remembered fondly. Alejandro Vargas was an amazing new character that breathed some much needed fresh air into the modern warfare series, much like Russel Adler from Black Ops Cold War. Unfortunately there was no stand out mission like Clean House from modern warfare 2019 but this games missions flow together very well. The new General Shepherd is a different take on the memorable villain from the original title but managed to hold his own as conniving and meticulous. The credits scene was very exciting and I'm very intrigued about the next campaign.

The multiplayer is an improvement on 2019 but it still has its issues. Majority of the maps are yet again quite forgettable however there are some pretty good maps in there such as: Farm 18, Mercado Las Almas, The Embassy and Crown Raceway. There is once again no traditional prestige system which is utterly ridiculous since majority of players are sick of the new one, and skill based match making is as rampant as ever destroying the fun. Many feature are missing such as Barracks, a leaderboard, medals, customisable reticles and a split screen mode. This is ridiculous for a game that had years of development time.

Some of the positives include a very different take on the weapon skins system, it's well thought out and you'll need to play for ages just to get everything which is good for replay ability. The new game modes such as Knockout and Prisoner Rescue completely carry this game at the moment because they are extremely fun and addictive. Updates and future maps seem to be free once again which is consumer friendly and this game will be a two year title instead of the traditional one game every year. This gives infinity ward more time to add many more things to this game.

Overall this is a slight improvement but it's not a much better game than the last. However you can still have plenty of fun with it, looking forward to the upcoming updates.
