A disaster
sadak75992 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Acting is in the range from bad to horrible and cringe; amateurish and pretentious realization; boring, underdeveloped characters in a simple and inconsistent story.

I found this utterly bad movie in the list of "Halloween movies", but it is actually a slow, ridiculous and uninteresting psychological thriller. The underrated and funny Pablo Chiapella performed here possibly his worst work ever. Avoid it!

Spoilers from here:

Why I gave 2 out of 10 to this movie instead 1 or 3?

The movie deserves 1 point out of 10, but it gained one extra point due to the use of some classic elements to deceive the viewer:
  • The use of "haunted house" classic elements. During first half of the movie you think this is a haunted house classic flick. But something makes you doubt
  • The appealing to Sci-Fi: the eclipse and playing with time and space made you think that you are in a "strange physics" movie, where the time folds and characters appeared in different time and same space.
But, near the end, you realize that all this was used to deceive the viewer: actually the main characters are two utter idiots that suffered an accident while they were high after heavy drug abuse. It is an anti-drug movie! During ending credits, you think you are as idiot as the (otherwise pathetic and uncharming) main characters, because you wasted time in this crap.

The movie lost another point due to the bad depiction of drug effects. The depressed behavior of main characters is not consistent with usage of stimulants. Maybe it is intentional, another trick to deceive the viewer?

In conclusion: crappy movie, wasted time.

Mystery
hof-423 February 2020
The plot: Cano, a musician and composer, returns to the summer house that he once shared with Sara, his girlfriend, who disappeared in strange circumstances. The drama is intermingled with the fantastic, and the underlying theme is the imprint (sometimes distorted or suppressed) that past experiences leave in our present life. The overall theme is Cano's obsession with finding the truth, which leads him to reconstruct every detail of the last days he spent with Sara.

This is the first feature film by director Jorge Arenillas, who has had extensive experience in other fields of the movie industry. (assistant director, writer, etc.) His debut is auspicious in spite of (or maybe because) the minimal budget at his disposition. He creates an atmosphere of increasing dread and foreboding supported by good acting and cinematography. The only objection is that the subject and script is perhaps too sparse for a full length movie. All in all, a film worth watching.
