Considering the complexity of The Beatles‘ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, it makes sense that Paul McCartney has some difficulty singing one of its songs. He said he was instrumental in writing the song. John Lennon might have told a different story.
1 ‘Sgt. Pepper’ song is a vocal challenge for Paul McCartney
During a 2017 interview with Rolling Stone, the “Silly Love Songs” star discussed performing a Sgt. Pepper song live. “I also like doing ‘For the Benefit of Mr. Kite!’ [sic] that’s nice to do,” he said. “With ‘Mr. Kite,’ the thing about it is, it’s quite challenging cause the bass part goes somewhere that the vocal doesn’t go. So it’s like you’ve got to split your body in half and send one half to do the vocal and send the other half to do the bass part. That’s good to do; it’s quite hard to do.

Ike Barinholtz is going full dumbass.
That’s how The Mindy Project writer-star describes his latest character, Chris Chatman, who he’ll play for his newest project, The Chris Chatman Do-Over podcast, beginning Jan. 11.
The weekly show, which is being billed as an original improvised comedy, is the second of three installments in a series of podcasts from Amy Poehler’s Paper Kite Productions and Audacy. The first, which launched in September, is Say More with Dr? Sheila, which stars Poehler as a fictional, world-class therapist/life coach, who has questionable methods and credentials and sees new couples each week. Barinholtz is among the many recognizable voices who have appeared as fictional guests on the popular podcast; though in his case, he was setting up a standalone series as Chatman, a controversial shock jock host.

The debut of Netflix’s latest South Korean drama, “All of Us Are Dead,” on Friday led to a massive upswing in user engagement on Twitter over the weekend, landing the series at the top of Variety’s Trending TV chart for the week of Jan. 24 – 30. There, it usurped HBO’s “Euphoria” in the No. 1 spot for the first time in four weeks.
Anticipation began building for “All of Us Are Dead” when Netflix dropped its wild and gory trailer in mid-January, and with all 12 episodes available to binge over the weekend, there was plenty to chat about online. The inventive series (which is based on a digital comic from Webtoon) offers a new take on the zombie drama thanks to its high-school setting. There, a group of teen survivors attempt to hold onto their lives during a gruesome apocalyptic event, and many viewers raced through the episodes to avoid spoilers.

Spinning off from the “Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure” universe, the character of Kishibe Rohan rests as the one standout from the Joestar family to see moderate success in stand alone series,. Combine this with the success of the long running Jojo’s anime series, also directed by Toshiyuki Kato, Rohan’s leap to his own series is no surprise. However “Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan” focus on the titular character seems secondary, with the 4 episodes mini series offering tales within the “Jojo-verse” with Rohan being the binding factor.

From indie classics like Do the Right Thing to blockbuster mega hits such as Infinity War, Samuel L. Jackson has cemented himself as one of the most recognizable actors of modern American cinema. But for every great movie he’s been in, he’s also played a part in some truly atrocious, yet nonetheless entertaining titles. And so on that note, here are his best and worst films, according to IMDb’s rating system.
Let’s start with the worst and work our way to the top from there. First up we got a movie called Def by Temptation. Released in 1990 and directed by a guy named James Bond III, it stars Jackson alongside Kadeem Hardison and Bill Nunn, both of whom have since become household names in their own right. In a mundane hospital hallway, fine arts photographer Nicolas, epileptic since childhood, falls for the aloof Isabel, unaware she is visiting her suicidal mother. The narrative begins through Nicolas's lens then cuts back to follow Isabel prior to their meeting. Their stories merge as they're suddenly engaged in a highly charged relationship. When the intense getting acquainted period wanes, it seems worth attempting to transcend respective flaws and demons, yet commitment is not something that comes easy to either of these resolutely independent people. Some films just come out of nowhere, and the trailer for one such project has arrived. The selling point? It's Gillian Anderson and Ben Kingsley taking on robot oppressors. Jon Wright, the filmmaker behind the solidly regarded indie creature feature "Grabbers," has co-written and directed the $21 million-budget "Robot Overlords".
Callan McAuliffe ("I Am Number Four," "Kite") leads the cast of this teen-skewing film in which Earth has been conquered by alien robots with human survivors essentially under house arrest - if they leave, an electronic implant will alert the robots who will then target them for incineration.
Amongst this, a gang of teenagers figure out how to deactivate theirs and head off in search of a father who has gone missing. Embankment Films is slated to release the film on March 19th in the United Kingdom.

Yasuomi Umetsu’s (chief animator for Arms Corporation who has also worked as a designer on Akira, Spriggan, Elfen Lied and Casshern) original anime Kite was, when first released in 1998, a highly controversial graphic story of hard, gory action and illicit eroticism. Banned in certain countries across the globe due to its scenes of rape and revenge, in Japan it has sold nearly a million DVD units. It has also been released in Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Russian, Czech Republic, Slovakia and the United States – where it remains popular; yet the original Ova and its sequel, have never had a UK release. In fact this Us film adaptation is the first time the franchise has been legitimately available in this country.

Three new action-packed clips have surfaced for the live-action feature film adaptation of the anime Kite. It looks like the filmmakers may have done a decent job of bringing this story to the big screen. The movie stars Samuel L. Jackson, India Eisley, Callan McAuliffe, Cleo Rinkwest, Russel Savadier, Keci Eatock, Matthew Van Leeve, and Jaco Muller.
Kite was directed by Ralph Ziman, and the story follows a young orphaned schoolgirl named Sawa, who is living in a failed state, during a time of post-financial collapse, "where the corrupt security force profits on the trafficking of young women. When her father, a cop, is slain by someone dirty inside the force, she vows to track the murderer down with the help of her father’s ex-partner."
The first clip you watch is called "Toys," and it's been labeled a red-band clip, the second is called "Rescue," and the third "Disguise.

Go Fly One: Ziman’s Anime Adaptation a Denuded, Unnecessary Endeavor
Those familiar with Yasuomi Umetsu’s 1998 fifty minute anime of the same name will be sorely disappointed in Ralph Ziman’s modernized update of the controversial Kite. But a faithful, live action rendition would have crossed the boundaries and limits of what defines exploitation cinema since we’re talking about an orphaned school girl sex slave assassin. A more fitting nod came from Quentin Tarantino, who culled the origin tangent of O-Ren Ishii in Kill Bill from Umetsu, in an anime sequence deemed too violent for live action. While a faithful adaptation would have seemed gratuitous, this end product is unable to elicit any kind of response at all, feeling utterly uninspired in look, tone, or content.

Based on a 1998 anime of the same name, Kite is a gory revenge saga that takes place in a future so bleak it gags under its own layers of decay. Child sex slavery is the cornerstone of the black market, and desperate, ineffectual cops collude with teenage vigilantes to play judge, jury, and executioner against underworld kingpins.
After she's poured into skin-tight dresses and five-inch heels, Sawa (India Eisley) — a waifish, tortured, drug-addicted assassin — eviscerates scores of henchmen with whatever's handy: a handgun loaded with hollow-point exploding bullets, a butcher's cleaver, or her porcelain-white, doll-like hands. It probably shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that Samuel L. Jackson is pretty much great at everything. He's an incredible actor, a fine spokesperson for low interest credit cards, and we're pretty sure he's the voice of Nick Fury in a new Disney videogame we just bought. Also, it turns out, he's one hell of a karaoke star. That's right: the man can belt it.
Daisy Lowe, the super hot, frequently naked daughter of Gavin Rossdale and his first wife, Peal Lowe, shot video of Jackson at a charity event in London (where the actor is currently filming a big-screen reboot of "Tarzan") and slapped it on Instagram. The video (via Vulture) is truly incredible, with the "Pulp Fiction" star singing a rousing rendition of Robin S's "Show Me Love" (if you don't recognize the song initially, it's not you -- the karaoke-version instrumental is dreadful).

I dunno how to properly gauge this first clip from Ralph Ziman’s “Kite,” the adaptation of the popular Japanese anime about a teen hitgirl out for revenge. There’s something a bit off about it, but hey, it’s only a minute-plus clip, and the rest of the movie could be better. They sure went for gruesome, what with the bullet-through-the-hand gag and all. The thing with the old lady was just downright awkward, though. For some reason, I thought they had shot this thing in another language then dubbed it into English, but no? Never Underestimate a Girl with Nothing to Lose. Based on the groundbreaking, cult classic anime, Kite tells the story of Sawa (India Eisley, “The Secret Life of the American Teenager,” Underworld: Awakening), a young woman living in a corrupt society where crime and gangs terrorize the streets. With the help of her father’s ex-partner, Karl Aker (Samuel L. Covering Fantasia for the first time was a hectic, enjoyable experience. They give you a badge with your name on it and everything. However, as for this year’s lineup, I have a little trouble being enthusiastic. With some major exceptions like Guardians of Galaxy, not listed here only because it’s appearance at the Festival seemed more coincidental than prestigious, a lot of the hyped up releases played weakly. Also, I’ve been no stranger to openly criticizing Fantasia audiences as a whole, more than willing to behave as sheep (or, in this case, cats) and applaud even the weakest of films due to a genre-note or laugh –however unintentional. So I found respite in some of the quieter films, and maybe a few major ones. No matter; Here are five things that truly deserve to gain wider audiences.

Callan McAuliffe in Beneath The Harvest Sky.
After Callan McAuliffe landed roles in two studio films, Flipped and I Am Number Four, several years ago, the teenager says he naively expected a glittering Hollywood career would ensue.
That.s now how the actor.s career has panned out but he shot four indie movies around the world in the past 18 months, working with Samuel L. Jackson, Sir Ben Kingsley and Gillian Anderson.
.I am no A-lister,. the Los Angeles-based McAuliffe, 19, told If today on a visit to Sydney as a national ambassador for Unicef promoting children.s rights. "I would rather be a working actor than a mega-famous star..
.I have to audition for every role but when you get the job, it.s very rewarding. I.ve been very fortunate, with a bit of luck and hard work. I have done some diverse movies, although some are not my type of movie.

Kite
Written by Brian Cox (no, not that one)
Directed by Ralph Ziman
USA/Mexico, 2014
Kite is hyperbolic in every sense imaginable. It’s hyper-stylized without reason, hyper-violent, and incredibly stupid. It’s also under-developed, though it masquerades having depth.
Sawa (India Eisley) is a teenage girl living in an unspecified post-apocalyptic city. Through opening text we’re told that the origins of the breakdown of society stem from a severe financial crisis, leaving the Numbers gang to roam the streets and profit on their sex trafficking of young girls. Sawa is driven by vengeance, as the leader of the Numbers, The Eram (played by the only actor who seems to be having fun in this film), murdered her parents. With help from her father’s ex-partner (Samuel L. Jackson playing… Samuel L. Jackson), she wreaks havoc on The Eram’s trade, killing low-level clientele and working scum. The gang...

Fantasia International Film Festival 2014 runs July 17 to August 6. Follow all of our coverage here. The country is in disarray after a financial collapse. Which country isn’t exactly important, but judging by the accents and locations on display let’s go with the United States of Middle Eastern South Africa. Criminal syndicates run rampant while neutered and frequently bribed police struggle to keep them in check, and the biggest victims are also the smallest as child sex trafficking becomes the crime du jour. Into this societal morass comes a waif-like girl in the violent grip of a clearly malicious thug. Her name is Sawa (India Eisley), and after blowing out the back of the guy’s head with an exploding bullet she continues on her way up the food chain of evil deeds looking for the man at the top, the man responsible for her parents’ murder, the man she is intent on killing. Along for the ride...

Samuel L. Jackson is a jaded cop looking out for his dead partner's daughter in the trailer for the live-action adaptation of “Kite,” a classic anime series from 1998. The orphaned young girl, played by India Eisley (“Underworld: Awakening”) has morphed into a deadly assassin, however, and seems fully capable of taking care of herself. ”Looks like somebody used a landmine to clear their sinuses,” Jackson says while examining the remains of one of her victims. Samuel L. Jackson introduced the first trailer and nine minutes of footage from his next film, “Kite,” which is an adaptation of a Japanese anime about a young, female assassin on the hunt for her parents’ murderer. “I’ve always been a huge fan of this particular material,” Jackson says in his introduction (above). “I watched the film, I read the graphic novel, I’ve been all over this for a lot of years, and I really hope that all of you — any of you that are familiar with it — will be pleased with what we did.” Also see: Samuel L. The first trailer and blood-soaked clip from anime adaptation, Kite, have arrived online, with a special introduction by leading man Samuel L. Jackson. For those unfamiliar with the source material, Kite tells the story of a grim dystopia in which a crooked security force profits from the sexual trafficking of vulnerable young women. When one young woman’s policeman father is killed by the regime, she sets out to find his killer, with a little help along the way from his former partner (as played by Jackson). Take a look at the new...

I haven’t followed director Ralph Ziman’s live-action adaptation of “Kite” as closely as others, but I gotta say I like what I’m seeing. Not only is 2014 shaping up to be a fantastic year for action cinema — check out the latest “Raid 2″ trailer if you doubt these words — there’s apparently plenty of Samuel L. Jackson to go around. I can’t say that’s necessarily a bad thing. “Kite” tells the story of a young woman who tracks down her murdered father’s killer with a little help from the cop’s ex-partner. Judging from the trailer and clip embedded below, there’s tons of nastiness on-tap for those who’ve been patiently awaiting this film’s arrival. If this Jackson flick doesn’t do it for you, then check out “Big Game,” “Barely Lethal,” “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” and the upcoming “RoboCop” remake to get your fix.

You haven't made it in Hollywood till you've had Samuel L. Jackosn point a gun at your head. Well, Callan McAuliffe can consider himself firmly arrived. On speaking about working on Kite, McAuliffe quickly addressed the elepahnt in the room, namely the very Nsfw content and subject matter in the original anime. Said Callan, "I suppose in an effort to make it a little more accessible, it's been toned down a tiny bit, but it is still exceedingly violent and there is a lot of the original material in there. It's definitely not something that young children should watch! It still maintains a lot of the elements that fans will be happy with. There are things it's impossible to get across with live action, such as the expressiveness of the characters, which would be overly theatrical in live action. So it has a more cinematic feel to it." And on...

Last weekend, Stan Lee’s Comikaze convention hit Los Angeles. One of the films to show off footage and bring guests to the show was anime adaptation Kite, starring Samuel L. Jackson, Callan McAuliffe and India Eisley. Empire took the chance to sit down with McAuliffe to talk adaptation issues, working with Jackson and his other recent job, Jon Wright’s Our Robot Overlords.Kite, as you may be aware, is the live-action remake of the anime known for its intensely violent action and decidedly Nsfw sexuality. As McAuliffe points out, director Ralph Ziman and his team made adjustments for their version. “I suppose in an effort to make it a little more accessible, it's been toned down a tiny bit, but it is still exceedingly violent and there is a lot of the original material in there. Director Ralph Ziman’s “Kite”, the live-action adaptation of the Japanese manga/anime of the same name, has just wrapped up production in South Africa. The film stars Samuel L. Jackson along with Callan McAuliffe, with “Underworld: Awakening’s” India Eisley playing the female lead, Sawa. In the movie, as in the comics and anime, Sawa is a young teenage girl in a dystopian city seeking to avenge her father’s killers with the help of his ex-partner, played by Samuel L. Jackson. McAuliffe (“I am Number Four”) will play Oburi, the young boy who befriends and falls for Sawa. Which is complicated, since Sawa is also a teenage hitman. Or, er, hitwoman. Hitgirl. One of those. Hopefully that’s the extent of the movie’s faithfulness to the source material, which can be a tad, er, gratuitous at times. In an interview with the Aussie McAuliffe, Aussie newspaper The...
