A Gift with Magical Powers
Uriah435 January 2019
This film essentially begins with a young girl named "Niki" (Evi Saoulidou) being given a toy parrot by her mother as a gift. It soon turns out that this gift has magical powers which helps the owner win in poker. Unfortunately, the word gets out and the gift is mysteriously lost in a game to a young boy by the name of "Stelios" (Nikos Vourliotis). Meanwhile as the years pass we find that luck has completely deserted Niki who now has to work as a journalist for a magazine and a waitress at a nightclub just to make ends meet. Stelios, on the other hand, has made a fortune as a gambler and has now become the Texas Hold'em European Champion. But then things take an unexpected turn when Niki is given an assignment to interview none other than-Stelios himself. And this is a meeting that Niki has been waiting for all of her life. Now rather than reveal any more I will just say that, although the film was billed as a comedy the humor wasn't really that sharp. Even so it was still an interesting movie for the most part and for that reason I have rated it accordingly. Slightly above average.

A fun movie with very good acting
zoonilen12 December 2012
This movie is about Niki, a woman who lost her good luck charm, a toy parrot, to a little boy in a set up game of poker when she was just little and since has had the worst of luck. We find her struggling to deal with her financial issues, working two jobs, as a reporter by day and a waitress by night. One day she is sent to interview a poker champion on his way to a big tournament. She soon realizes he was the boy who stole her good luck charm back in the day and decides to take it back one way or another.

This movie was much more fun than I expected and, if you look past the fact that the two leading characters started off the same age and grew up to have a ten years difference, it is very well casted. I recommend it to everyone.
