Of the many famous and infamous persons discussed as prisoners in the Tower of London over its 900+ year history, both ancient and recent, including several in the 20th century, one of the last prisoners held there, but not mentioned, was German Rudolf Hess, the Deputy Fuhrer of Nazi Germany, who was held there after parachuting into Scotland in 1941, by the orders of Winston Churchill.
