When 10 year old Nikos Spiridakis told his mother his idea for "Save It" and insisted she help him make it into a film, she immediately called producer and environmental activist Marshall Herskovitz. Mr. Herskovitz thought the idea was so brilliant, he agreed to executive produce the short, with Nikos as the director.
Nikos Spiridakis was on the set of, "Dirty Sexy Money" with his godfather, director, Tony Goldwyn when he conveyed the idea of the short film to Tony. Tony asked if he could act in it and Nikos replied, "Well my brother is the star, but you can play the guy pumping gas."
Bob Weinstein was so impressed with the shots Nikos had conceived that offered to distribute "Save It" based only on the storyboards and script. When he saw the final cut of the film, he commented on how it so closely matched the storyboards.
