Episode 3 confirms what most people probably guessed from the pilot already, namely that the two young friends' paths are slowly separating in opposite directions. Marc, under the custody of inspector Goffinard, is determined to expose the connection between corrupt (ex-) gendarmes and a series of crimes that are becoming increasingly violent. Franky, on the other hand, gets deeper caught in the web of his hateful squad leader Philippe Debels. Under his bad influence, Franky is taken along to a gathering of Right-Wing extremists.
We've landed in 1982, and things are disturbingly leading up towards the tragic events that occurred in the mid-80s; more particularly the relentless hold-ups and killings committed by the "Mad Killers of Brabant". This episode features the shocking robbery of a weapon store (resulting in the brutal execution of a policeman), and the heist of a gold transport (with a ditto outcome for the courier). It remains astounding how such a vast criminal network could establish itself right under the eyes of politicians, media, and the police superiors. Even a special committee that was especially founded to supervise gendarmes and provide inside information is rotten on the inside.
