This episode is one of my favourite My Family episodes, primarily because of the scene at the end with the alarm clock - that scene makes me laugh every time!, but also it's good to see Jeff Rawle as a nice guy unlike his Hollyoaks character Silas! However because of the scenes with Ben and Susan in quarantine, I'm sure this episode predicted COVID!

Running out of steam, but interesting enough

When long running shows run out of ideas they often go for rehashes of plots they've done before. And that's what 'My Family' does here, taking the plot of the series 4 Christmas special where the Harpers got stuck on a tube, and moving the action to a plane instead.
There are some mildly amusing moments in this episode, but more so than ever it seems as though the writers are relying on Lindsay and Wannamaker (especially Lindsay) to make more of a so-so script.
As seemed to be the case by this stage the B story was Janey and Michael together, and that again provides some small laughs.
The show wasn't on top form by this late stage, but it was mildly amusing enough.
