Prior to the broadcast of the episode it was announced that the series had been renewed for season 2. On the day of broadcast it was revealed by Rebecca Ferguson that season 2 had already started filming, and that all scripts were completed before the WGA writers' strike that began in May 2023.
The box with the cloths that are being used to clean the camera outside is labeled "sensor wool". This is a reference to the title of the original book by Hugh Howey that the series is based on - "Wool" (2011).
At the 36:02 mark in episode 10, season 1, the "Silo" author Hugh Howey appears in a quick cameo, as part of the audience watching the cleaning.
