A night of self-destruction ends in a moment of unexpected beauty and grace.
When Michael leaves his family, job and entire life behind, he spirals downward into his past life's alcohol addiction. It's late and speeding through downtown gets him nowhere fast. For the first time in his career, he has no direction. He's simply lost, yet still searching.
When he speeds past an abandoned alley, he hits the brakes and shifts into reverse. He sees a wide open dumpster standing at the end of the alley. It's his chance to trash all the memories. In his drunken stupor he empties his car of every photo frame, house decoration...the kitchen sink, essentially. Objects fly, hitting the dumpster, the ground. In his rage, he smashes whatever beer bottles are left. Finally, from one unique box, he pulls out an expensive bottle of liquor, a gift from someone special. He smashes into the brick wall. Blood streams from his hand. Around him, everything is shattered.
Michael passes out in the alley. If there's any hope left, the morning might him bring a glimmer of light.
