Transformers Dark Of the Moon

I was somewhat disappointed with this episode of the Transformers trilogy. I was expecting a lot more from this especially after watching the trailers. I was expecting a certain direction for the film to take, taking its origins from the trailer, but it somehow manages to get lost half way through. The dark of the moon concept was brilliant to begin the movie with and I think that they should have focused it there instead of trying to bring things down to earth and thereby make it look like "Independence day" or "Battle Los Angeles". The lack of an original concept is what lets this movie down as well as the lost characters such as John Turturro for example who does a whole lot of shouting but nothing much in between. Sam Witwicky also comes out as just a lost soul trying to find a place in the movie which has lost its plot. The viewer will find himself wondering what happened to Sam's previous girlfriend and how this new one seems to appear in Sam's life. On top of this there are new Autobots that appear in the film and you don't know where they arrived from. The action sequences are great but lose their effect because the models don't show individual actions in slow motion. The action is so fast that the viewer finds it hard to follow at times. Shockwave for example confuses you where you wonder if he is just one individual or if he is a part of the monolithic monster that wreaks whole buildings. The final part of the film shows Sam standing by while the Autobots take down the main pillar. Then there good old John Malkovich who appears only to disappear into obscurity in what must have been his shortest part in a motion picture... Whats going on Mr. Michael Bay.. you did an excellent job with one and two but three for me is a disappointing flop.
