Bobbing for apples

A fabulous first of a two-parter. The real Raymond Reddington has finally stood up, he is calculating, ruthless and driven. Nothing will stop him hunting Marvin down, no price is too high and no life worth enough.

End-to-end action and entertainment. Sure there are some dodgy plot devices and the non-linearity is poorly done and irritating, but we have lost the standing around talking and childish FBI agent whining. We have gained a solid credible plot with decent dialogue, plenty of action and a reinvigorated Red.

Excellent episode, looking forward to part two!

I had to write here.

I was reading some of the reviews for the two part season finale. It seems people are thinking it is a series finale for some reason. Thing is blacklist has already been renewed for season 10. I hope people realize the mistake. I believe so long as spader wants to do the series it will keep going.

Its a 10..except the pointless witch doctor
adshiel23 July 2022
Been brilliant not having Liz in the series, that removed one flip flop emotional mess thaglt could never decide if she was evil or not. Now we have this dopy witch doctor who serves no real purpose but spouting daft rubbish and burning weed.

Get rid of her and let Red get on with things.

Warning: Spoilers
A awesome episode. The entry music showing the last minutes of Liz in the face of Marvin, with the music of Roy Orbison - Only the lonely....got the death of Liz, the feelings of Red to another dimension. Then the story with some flashback of Marvin in a beautiful End-to-end action was The Blacklist in its best. Reds feelings (to Liz, to Dembe and his returning, to the sisters) perfectly shown. Spader at his best - sadness, pain, agony, fun, anger - everything is in this episode.... WOW... The second one could explode our minds..... Go on.... This is the best series ever.......

The season conclusion I've been waiting for
foamythefearsome30 June 2022
The last episode made a promising introduction to the season's end, where it ties together all the loose ends of the season and explains everything we've seen. It was much needed, with a lot of confusion about what was going on exactly, but it delivered and brings closure to the plotlines set out over the course of the season, and bodes for a strong season finale.

Let the hunt begin!

The Plot Thickens and the Suspense Builds

Great episode to start out the series finally. Dembe and Red Join forces again to go after Marvin with the task force following behind closely one step behind. It's going to be sad to see this series end but this is really building up to be a fantastic grand finally. My biggest question is if they are going to Kill off Red next week to end the series or send him back to seclusion with his girlfriend. Also the musical selection again this week is great with Roy Orbison doing only the lonely when Red Flashes back to Liz' Murder. They spend a lot of time revealing the background as to why Marvin went rogue. Can't wait for the finally!

The Blacklist at it's peak

Warning: Spoilers
The Blacklist has had an intriguing ride these past 9 seasons. Many people, like Elizabeth Keen and Samar Navabi, have come and gone throughout. There have been good and bad episodes in a show I consider one of the best. For this episode, it's a 10/10 for sure.

The twist that Marvin was the traitor and main antagonist of season 9 was brilliant. His motivation made sense for his character and story. Fisher Steven's performance in this episode and the next is great and deserved the award nomination. Everyone else's acting is great, especially Harry Lennix (Harold Cooper) and James Spader (Red).

I can't wait for what this show has in store for the rest of its run.

Important Next to Last

Warning: Spoilers
The strength of this episode is that it shows us the machinations of Marvin Gerard as he tries to gain power. We get to know why Elizabeth was killed and how it was orchestrated. We get to know that after her death he wept. He didn't want to kill her but knew that she had to be eliminated as Reddington's successor. The episode is filled with adventure, especially as Red's associates are slaughter in a remote cabin. We see the mercenary leader who sets up the thing with a militia trained better with better weaponry. We see Dembe playing both sides of the fence. Finally, we see how selfish Cooper is, putting his family and others in danger to save his own skin.
