And still I rise
estathena211 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The relief has finally come thanks to the support staff - the too often underappreciated and taken for granted, & although a little anticlimactic due to our Forbes-induced emotional exhaustion, there was a quiet but also also great power in it. A sigh of relief was released - one I'm thankful for. Now, let's focus on the characters we've come to love as they take the next step in their adventure.

The Helicopter Fell

I watched about one half of this episode and had to stop because I got so fed up with Fuentes being able to get away with everything. Then I watched "Castles Made of Sand" and was glad I had not deleted "Rise". I went back and finished watching it and was so glad to see the Helicopter fall on Dr. Romano (Fuentes). (Check out ER if you don't get it)

British Police cars with American car registration plates
andrewoholic13 May 2022
I really wish this show would do their research on Britain. For starters no NHS hospital or Doctors surgery has wooden flooring. It's too unhygienic for starters.

Then you have cars driving/parking on the wrong side of the road. We British, drive on the left, not the right. At one point a car drove past an American muscle car, that was parked in the street. Yet before and after, it continued to drive on the right, this wouldnt happen in the Uk.

Lastly, British police cars with American reg plates!!!!!!! Come on guys. I am shocked non of the British actos/actresses have corrected them, or made amends, some how.

Unrealistic
loopyleo-0712528 November 2022
The writing/production of this episode has been done by people with no understanding of the UK or NHS. The idea that medical staff would withdraw care without legal direction (I. E. the first scene with Helen) is ridiculous. The idea that medical staff would revel in the withdrawal of care from a terminally ill child is insulting. Despite this series being about a public hospital, its clearly written by people that misunderstand and mistrust the NHS...

Also, who did the location scouting for this series? The 'london' parts of this series are just so poorly researched and realised. I don't understand where Helen is meant to be working. Is it a GP surgery? A hospital? A treatment centre?

That's not how the nhs works.

Not quite sure what the intention was in presenting the British government as deciding to withdraw life support.

As Helen said, it's nothing to do with the government. The doctors can apply for the child to be made a ward of court if they think the child is suffering enduring futile treatment and the parents are not acting in the childs best interest. It is all completely independent of the government, and only done once it is clear there is no chance of recovery.

The parents have the right to appeal the decision. It is last resort, and certainly not decided and done in 24 hours.

A ridiculous idea as well to put a terminally ill child on a flight to america, were they planning on hopping on a british airways 747? It would take days if not weeks to organise a medivac flight capable of providing that level if support, and who's paying for it?

The whole thing seems at odds with how New Amsterdam is trying to fight the monetarised healthcare in the US.

Fake scenes

Warning: Spoilers
The scene with Floyd his mom is really bad. It doesn't make sense. Badly put together scenes. And how can 2 babies live without amniotic fluid.

The concept is good, but if you see all those mistakes in filming and the scenes... so, 1 star rate.
