The Sunset Club by Karan Tejpal & Tia Tejpal
Karan Tejpal
What is your project about? What language will the film be in?
The Sunset Club is adapted from one of Khushwant Singh’s last novels. It captures the election year of 2009 in India through the eyes of a 40 year old friendship between three octogenarians. An incredible commentary on independent India, the book beautifully captures the desires and despair of urban New Delhi. It is an intimate tale of daily meetings at the Lodhi Gardens, New Delhi; woven with arousing memories from the past of the three old men.
The film will be true to urban north India and hence in Hindi, English, Punjabi and Urdu.
At what stage of development is it?
The screenplay is raring to go from our side but we are looking forward to incorporating inputs from the Lab to take this project to fruition.
We are looking for Producers/Financing.

Fukrey, loosely translated as ‘losers’ or ‘good for nothings’, is produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment. So instantly you can expect high production values, good content and something fresh. Add to this an almost entire cast of newcomers, makes you think that there must be something very special about this film, which made Farhan and Ritesh invest in it. So what was it and was it worth it? Read on to find out…
Directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, who previously directed a not so impressive Teen Thay Bhai, Furkrey is definitely a comeback film for him. Set in Delhi, Fukrey very much has that north Indian feel that recent films like Vicky Donor and Band Baaja Baaraat had. The story, written by Vipul Vig, follows the aspirations of three young guys dreaming of making it into university for that very reason many of us wanted to – the girls!

Not many are aware that Fukrey isn’t the first directorial outing for Mrigdeep Singh Lamba. His debut effort was in fact Teen Thay Bhai which was released two years back. Though the film was a massive flop and also criticized by almost everybody, Mrigdeep wasn't bogged down by pressure and immediately started working on his next. However when it came to starcast of the film, one wonders whether Richa Chadda (who plays the part of 'Boli Punjaban' in the film) was worried about the fact that his debut effort had been hardly memorable. Your college days are said to be the best of your life – fun, frivolous and filled with friendship. But this is far from true in the new “rogue-trip” film Fukrey.
Fukrey is a twisted coming-of-age drama and deliciously hilarious tale of four young, hapless ‘nobodies’ (‘Fukreys’), running after their individual desires, brought together by one dream. Their lives are turned upside down when they chase that elusive ‘get rich quick’ scheme. The film combines the crazy antics and madcap mishaps of four loser college friends, as their paths cross with an array of colourful characters, from a tough-talking Punjabi female don to a Jugaad Baaz college watchman. Mayhem ensues with predictably hilarious and unexpected results.
Fukrey stars a bevy of talented stars in the Bollywood arena – Richa Chadda (Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!, Gangs of Wasseypur); Ali Fazal (3 Idiots, The Other End Of The Line) Manjot Singh (Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!

But Richa grabbed attention after her work in "Gangs Of Wasseypur".
She will next be seen in Farhan Akhtar's home production "Fukrey" and guarantees that it will entertain moviegoers.

If industry trade statistics are to be believed, for every single good film that is made, there are 10 other bad ones that release week after week. For anyone familiar with the Razzies concept of Hollywood, the ‘Ghanta Awards’ (‘ghanta’ being the slang for ‘rubbish’) is its desi version to celebrate and recognize the worst that Bollywood offers in terms of films, actors, technicians among some other categories.
In its second year, the awards function was held over the weekend to a packed house. Those who could not attend had the option of watching its online live stream (something that none of the bigger awards have been able to achieve yet). Mumbai, March 20: Actor Shreyas Talpade, who has starred in a slew of multi-starrers, feels such films have their own charm and should not be missed in the race to bag solo roles.
"Multistarrers have their own charm and uniqueness, which I don't want to miss out on just because I want to do a solo film. The speciality of a multi-starrer is that so many people come together and try to make an entertainer," said Shreyas, who has films like "Om Shanti Om", "Golmaal" series, "Teen Thay Bhai"and "Will You Marry Me?" to his credit.
"I think it's great fun and as an actor also if you probably manage to stand.

When Gautam Mehra and Mehul Suri premiered their play Mad, Madder, Maddest in 2003, little did they know that the comic caper about three brothers who can’t see eye-to-eye would make it to the big screen several years later. Comedy isn’t the genre of conformists. It seldom works when you treat things with respect especially the virtues of an old man and his village wisdom. Teen Thay Bhai is a comedy that carries the burden to leave the audience with a message on good old dada ji and the virtues of brotherhood. And this is not the only thing that works against the film.
Debutant director Mrigdeep Singh Lamba is imaginative. He likes to set up grand spectacles and utilizes everything at his disposal to create a sense of grandeur. His film is set in a snow-capped hilltop bungalow in Himachal Pradesh. It has a gang of white skinned fantasy girls who roll marijuana leaves in paratha, a gadget-freak Police inspector who is a sadist and a dumbass, a village lawyer operating from under a tree who can climb up a mountain on his Bajaj scooter!
