Rodrigo Borgia : [shift to viewing of the excavated sculpture] The Laocoon, a relic from the magnificent days of ancient Rome. A cautionary tale, the high priest Laocoon tried to warn the Trojans about the large wooden horse. Fear the Greeks, even bearing gifts. The goddess Athena, as revenge, sent a serpent, which rose from the sea to destroy Laocoon and his sons. The Trojans believed that Laocoon's death proved him wrong. God may destroy a man, but the man may still be right.
