It's about 1:00 am and I stayed awake to watch this on TV. I try not to expect too much from Venezuelan cinema, but even so I'm very disappointed. The movie is absolutely boring, and filled with inaccuracies, maybe not historic, but logical. Maybe the producers and writers did their research right and I'm mistaken, but all the uniforms are different, and what's the use of that in the battlefield I can not, for the life of me, fathom. Besides, in those times, decapitations were not an easy matter, i. e., a man was rarely, if ever, beheaded with just one stroke... The guillotine was invented out of pity with those sentenced to death, because executions by the ax or the sword were horrible and excruciating. The forced patriotic tone of the whole movie is quite annoying, to say the least, if you are Venezuelan. The acting, with few exceptions, is too theatrical to be believable. The story is quite difficult to follow if one hasn't read the summary before watching it... All said, it wasn't worth staying awake... unless what you really want is to fall asleep...
