I’m not happy that Law & Order: Svu‘s Chris Meloni is retiring his badge after 12 years. Not happy at all. But rather than throw myself a pity party to which you would have all been invited, I’ve decided to channel my negative energy into something positive: finding my girl Mariska Hargitay a new partner before she steps away from the beat full-time at midseason. Here are, for my money, the folks Dick Wolf should be courting:

Charlie Sheen isn’t the only high-profile actor who’s out of job next season.
Networks chased after a slew of stars during pilot season, then left a bunch out in the cold once they decided which series were making their schedule. Among the survivors are Tim Allen (Last Man Standing), James Van Der Beek (Apartment 23), Christina Applegate (Up All Night) and Sarah Michelle Gellar (Ringer). But for every name that made the cut, there’s at least two that are back to pounding the pavement for work.

The message is pretty clear this upfront season: networks would rather gamble on a fresh crop of shows than bring back modest performers.
ABC has announced that it’s jettisoning six of its prime-time series and BuzzFocus readers will be sad to hear that V and No Ordinary Family were part of the bloodshed. While this move is certainly one that many fans expected (and prepared themselves for), it still stings nonetheless. V had recently made the trip to WonderCon to campaign for a third season, but it clearly wasn’t in the cards for the suits at ABC.
As for No Ordinary Family, when series star Michael Chiklis joined CBS pilot Vince Uncensored, many took the move as the writing being on the wall for the superhero show. While the show didn’t bust ‘em up in the ratings department, it still had a decent first season that many...

After spending untold amounts of cash on hundreds of dramas and comedies — most of which will never make it to your living rooms — the five broadcast networks will begin announcing in New York next week which projects are good enough to earn a coveted fall pickup. (NBC and Fox will present their fall schedule to advertisers on Monday, followed by ABC on Tuesday, CBS on Wednesday and the CW on Thursday).
Buzz is already strong for several projects (for more on the hot ones, click here). But every year, we always wonder what diamond-in-the-rough was left on the cutting room...

Cynthia McWilliams, who is recurring on Fox's The Chicago Code, has landed a lead role on CBS' untitled sports radio show pilot. The multicamera comedy, from veteran writer-producers Bill Martin and Mike Schiff, is inspired by Espn personality Colin Cowherd’s outspoken sports talk show. It centers on Nick (Damon Wayans), an egotistical sports-radio host with a quick wit and cocky likability. McWilliams will play his wife, the mother of two kids from a previous marriage and stepmom to Nick's son from his previous marriage. Formerly the owner of her own company, with an Mba, Megan has given up her career to be at home with the children -- and it's starting to get to her. Rachel Fox, who was a regular on ABC's Desperate Housewives, has joined another CBS multicamera comedy pilot, Vince Uncensored, starring Michael Chicklis as Vince who, after brain surgery following an aneurysm, starts speaking his mind -- literally.

As if there weren't enough signs already that ABC's No Ordinary Family is doomed to be cancelled, the network has given us another one.
The TV series, about a super-powered family, has been struggling in the ratings for quite awhile and currently averages just a 1.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.67 million viewers. Last week's episode attracted only a 1.2 demo rating. ABC also recently cut the episode order from 22 to 20 installments.
Just days after production wrapped on what will likely be the final episode of No Ordinary Family, the show's stars signed on for new CBS shows. Michael Chiklis will star in a new sitcom pilot called Vince Uncensored. Julie Benz has signed on for an as-yet-untitled supernatural medical drama, co-starring Patrick Wilson. (These are technically in second position but it's certainly not a good sign.)...

Kelsey Grammer's kind of sexy, right? He could toss my salad and scramble my eggs, s'all I'm saying.
Maybe that's because so many bad things happened to him and I'm a sucker for a tragic backstory, but he was always, you know, Dr. Frasier Crane to me - with the exception of some bad pilots we'd all rather forget once Frasier ended.
But Grammer's put on another hat this time and it actually sounds promising; Conan O'Brien's production company, Conaco, is working with Warner Brothers on a pilot called Vince Uncensored and they've just signed Grammer to direct.

Pilot season is in full swing: Casting has been going hot and heavy for weeks now, and cameras either have started rolling or will soon for most of the 82 shows in development.
And like every pilot season, there are some trends emerging in the projects the broadcast networks have ordered, in addition to the usual array of cop shows and medical dramas. Some are easy to explain (the networks all want their own "Modern Family" or "Glee"), others less so (what's with all the fairy-tale stuff?). Here's what you may be seeing come fall.

Julie Benz has followed her "No Ordinary Family" co-star Michael Chiklis into the pilot-season fray, signaling further bad news for the ABC series.

Somebody stick the metaphorical fork in No Ordinary Family. Barring any official word, it's done.

Michael Chiklis is moving from drama to comedy.
The No Ordinary Family star has signed on as the lead role in Vince Uncensored, a CBS comedy pilot that is being executive produced by Conan O’Brien and David Kissinger.
The new show is said to center on a man who decides to take a more honest approach to life after a life-changing experience.
So what does this mean for No Ordinary Family? Here’s a hint: it’s not good news at all. While it’s not impossible that Chiklis could shoot both shows, you can bet on Nof being dead in the water after this first season. It’s had anemic ratings after its strong September debut and going head-to-head against Fox’s Glee and CBS’ NCIS hasn’t really helped it any. This is quite unfortunate; it was one of the more unique new shows of the Fall...

Michael Chiklis will be Vince Uncensored in a CBS half-hour comedy pilot produced by Conan O’Brien, Deadline reports.
Penned by veteran sitcom scribe Phoef Sutton (Cheers), Vince revolves around a man who, in the wake of a life-changing experience, adopts a more honest approach to life, work and family.
An Emmy winner for his work on The Shield, Chiklis was heavily courted this pilot season, particularly by CBS. Given the staggered production timetables for drama versus comedy pilots, going for laughs was the best bet given his time commitment to ABC’s No Ordinary Family, says Deadline.

Next fall, Michael Chiklis might have a more ordinary family.
The actor has been signed to the lead role in a CBS comedy pilot Vince Uncensored, from veteran writer Phoef Sutton (Cheers, Terriers) and exec produced by Conan O’Brien and David Kissinger.
The premise of the Warner Bros. project: “After a life-changing experience, a man decides to take a more honest approach to his life, work and family.” The Vince Uncensored job is in “second position” to Chiklis’ gig on ABC’s struggling No Ordinary Family, which is looking unlikely to get another season.

No Ordinary Family star Michael Chiklis is returning to comedy as the star of CBS' half-hour pilot Vince Uncensored, from veteran sitcom writer Phoef Sutton, Conan O'Brien's Conaco and Warner Bros. TV. For Chiklis, the pilot is in second position to the freshman ABC drama No Ordinary Family, which he stars in and co-executive produces. The actor, who won an Emmy for The Shield, was planning to sit this pilot season out but was offered CBS two comedy pilots: Vince Uncensored and the untitled Filgos project. Because he had been tied on No Ordinary Family, which just wrapped production, he could technically only do a comedy pilot as half-hour pilots start production later than dramas. Landing Chiklis was a big priority for CBS. To do that, the network also signed a development/holding deal with the actor behind his pact for Vince Uncensored. As for Vince Uncensored, it centers on a man (Chiklis) who,...

The future of "Two and a Half Men" is, let's say, cloudy at the moment.
If we had to guess right now, we'd say that the show, which is currently the most-watched comedy on TV, will be back in some form -- with or without Charlie Sheen -- for 2011-12. CBS will announce its lineup for next season in mid-May, which means the network, Warner Bros. TV, creators Chuck Lorre and Lee Aronsohn and Sheen have about two and a half months to figure out what happens next.
But what if the worst-case scenario for CBS happens and "Men" doesn't come back at all?
Yes, the network would probably suffer some in the ratings -- but it would probably also come out Ok. CBS also has the No. 2 and 3 comedies in terms of viewers in "The Big Bang Theory" and "Mike & Molly"; both shows are also in the Top 25 this...

CBS may not have a project like Wonder Woman that’s eating up all the headlines, nor does it have a much-anticipated reboot in the works that has fans hoping for the best (and even anticipating the worst). But the No. 1 network (in viewers) doesn’t need to make a lot of noise with its fall 2011 development, especially when it continues to succeed with tried-and-true formats featuring law dogs and crime-fighting duos.
That said, the network does have a serious weapon in its arsenal that could end up upstaging Woman and those three angels on ABC. I’m talking to...
