First of all. I don't want to sound racist, but the least interesting character among the major ones is the young woman reporter. The whole married man thing is tiresome. Also, her giddy approach to everything. Her mother is quite suspicious. It might be that I have seen so many portrayals of the post Civil War pain of the black people under reconstruction. We have the fate of the minister and his new bride and the great pain involved. The major event is the christening of the Brooklyn Bridge (another placer where women are diminished in this society. Most dramatic is the Oscar's sudden realization the something is rotten and the implications. Of course, we have the impending marriage of Marian Brooke, a marriage she seems to have been railroaded into. All in all, it sets up quite an exciting concluding episode. I'm not certain if a third season is in the offing.
