We all know Goldie Hawn for her infectious laugh, her unapologetic sense of humor, and her résumé stacked with iconic film roles, but there's a lot about the Hollywood family matriarch and Academy Award winner that you might not be aware of. From the career she might have had to why it took her and longtime partner Kurt Russell so long to get together, we've rounded up all the nuggets of trivia any Goldie fan should know. She almost ditched acting to be a country singer. Can you imagine a world where instead of filming movies like Overboard and Private Benjamin, Goldie was belting it out onstage at the Grand Ole Opry? In 1972, she recorded a country LP for Warner Brothers called Goldie, with the lead single titled "Pitta Patta." Although she had the help of country icons Dolly Parton and Buck Owens on the album, she ended up picking Hollywood over Nashville.

Dwayne Johnson is one of the toughest, most muscular, and most successful guys in Hollywood, but historically he's also never been scared of showing off his more vulnerable side, especially when it comes to his fans. When 19-year-old Austin Bitikofer recently tweeted a message about how he's been inspired to fight his depression because of The Rock, his idol was more than happy to respond with encouraging words. "Battled that beast more than once," he tweeted back. "Us men to [sic] prideful to ask for help. Speak up, ask for help & you're never alone. See at the top one day." The Moana star (and People's Sexiest Man Alive) has always been very vocal about his longtime struggle with depression, discussing it in detail last year while appearing on Oprah's Master Class series. "I found that, with depression, one of the most important things you could realize is that you're not alone,...

Like literally one million other Americans, I spent a chunk of my New Year's day tuning in to the launch of Oprah Winfrey's new cable television network, Own. For hours, my bestie and I Iaid in my living room glued to the flat screen. Somewhere after "Master Class" featuring Jay-z (picture HBO's "The Black List" with an hour dedicated to each of your favorite subjects) and before the end of "All Access Pass: Season 25: Oprah Behind the Scenes," I had a revelation: "Not too many Black folks in the Oprah empire, huh?"... Here's what you had to say: Teri commented via Facebook: "She's been on TV for 25 years and has been very generous to many people... " April wrote via Facebook: "She has an obligation to keep being successful so the next black woman can follow..."...

Oprah Winfrey claimed she was nervous before launching her Own network on January 1, but she can take a sigh of relief now. The network received a respectable number of 1 million viewers, thanks to the holiday night and "Season 25: Oprah Behind the Scenes" which is about Oprah's old syndicated show.
The biggest draw so far from the network comes from the program which scored 1.2 million viewers when aired at 8 P.M. on January 1. It continued to be the most watched program on Own the second day and helped Own to land the third place in the time period among all cable networks in women 25-54.
Day 2 number did see a decline of 18% to 822,000 viewers but that is still a good number compared to the 252,000 by the channel Own replaced. During its 12-12:30 P.M. debut, the network scored a 0.7 household rating, which is a 555 gain from the same...

Los Angeles, California (X17online) - Own: Oprah Winfrey Network premiered well over the New Year's holiday weekend, earning one million viewers in it's first night of primetime. Own's second day drew a primetime average of 822,000 viewers, a 18% drop from premiere night, but it was a dramatic improvement over Discovery Health which Own replaced. The most watched program was the two-hour debut of Season 25: Oprah Behind the Scenes, which follows the final season of Oprah's daytime talk show. The episode premiered with 1.2 million viewers on Jan.1. Behind the Scenes propelled Own to third place in the time period among all cable networks in women ages 25-54. Surprisingly, the most hyped new Own series, Oprah Presents Master Class was the lowest-rated program with the first episode featuring Jay-z averaging a mere 602,000 viewers. Own is now available in 67% of U.S. homes and 80% of cable homes.

In its first night of primetime on Jan.1, Own: Oprah Winfrey Network averaged 1 million viewers, a respectable number, especially on a holiday Saturday night. On Day 2, the co-venture between Oprah's Harpo and Discovery Communications, drew a primetime average of 822,000 viewers, a 18% drop from premiere night. That was still a dramatic improvement over the channel Own replaced, Discovery Health, which averaged 252,000 viewers in primetime last year. (But with a price tag of $200 million, Own had been under pressure to perform right out of the gate.) What is the biggest draw on the new network so far? Oprah's old syndicated show. The two-hour debut of Season 25: Oprah Behind the Scenes, which chronicles the final season of Oprah's daytime talk show, was the most watched Own program in the first 2 days, posting a 1.2 million viewers at 8 Pm on Jan.1 and propelling Own to third place in the time period...

There was more than the new year to celebrate this past weekend as Oprah debuted Own: The Oprah Winfrey Network. So far, reviews of the queen of talk's cable network have been at both ends, some very positive, and others highly critical. New York Times TV critic Alessandra Stanley calls the network "a place where cynicism takes a holiday and mockery hasn't yet been invented," while The Root's Jennifer Mabry wonders why the Oprah hasn't created more programming catering to "upwardly mobile, upper-middle-class Black folk..." Here's what you had to say: Shawn commented via Facebook: "Loved it, saw Jay-z Master Class story and it was awesome!" Evana wrote via Facebook: "I was never a faithful viewer of Oprah but I love the new channel."...

Hollywoodnews.com: Oprah Winfrey welcomed 2011 by launching her eagerly anticipated Own Network and, so far, the critics are being kind.
Critic Alessandra Stanley wrote in the NY Times that the new network “was most striking for what it lacked: nowhere in that opening gush of feel-good highlight reels, self-improvement plans, spiritual quests, aha! moments, celebrity master classes, and people finding their truths and living their own best lives was there a snicker of malice or a hint of raillery.”
Own, Stanley continued, is “a place where cynicism takes a holiday and mockery hasn’t yet been invented.”
That sounds very much in tune with the tone of Winfrey’s long-running, beloved daytime talk show, which frequently promoted but only occasionally probed.
It’s the first step in Own’s journey. The Philly Daily News reports that future endeavors for the network include:
- A reality series on the wind down,...

As a new year is upon us and in looking forward to the oncoming winter season of television I have to say there’s not a lot in the new offerings that I’m looking forward to.
Last year ABC made the decision to cut the show Flash Forward and instead continue on with the equally ratings challenged V. The programming choice was a shock to some, myself included, but I’m sure the network had some sound reasons for making their decision. It was disappointing for me since Flash Forward had actually upped its game in its final episodes with a new focus that made everything really come together. V never really had enough to hold my attention especially when you factor in the three episode premiere followed by a long break from the fall until the spring.
Tuesday marks the return of V and fans of the show...

Oprah Winfrey's network has begun not with a bang but with redeclared purpose by the Queen of Daytime for her new round-the-clock cable channel venture. After years in the planning and months of hype, the moment of launch on Saturday at 12 noon Est was rather quiet.Buried in the middle of a holiday weekend (though boasting the numerically catchy date 1-1-11), The Oprah Winfrey Network, or Own for short, arrived free of glitz with a one-hour preview special hosted by Winfrey, host of the syndicated "The Oprah Winfrey Show." She offered a hearty overview of the live-your-best-life fare she will curate across the network's schedule in the days ahead and further down the line. The strategy seemed that of a soft opening, aimed at whetting viewers' appetites so they regularly come back and sample the network's expanding menu of new shows as they roll out."...
