- Garrow defends Navy Captain Thomas Baillie who conveys to the board the poor conditions at the Greenwich naval hospital. The board's response is apparently to ignore him and so goes public with his complaint which leads to a charge of malicious libel. At the trial, Garrow attempts to show the corruption of the board and the enrichment of its members. Meanwhile, Sir Arthur Hill's solicitor continues to manufacture evidence against Garrow and Lady Sarah and seeks £10,000 in damages. Lady Sarah is refused permission to see her son but Sir Arthur's solicitor believes he has the perfect way to prove adultery, using Lady Sarah's child as a captive for the purpose.—garykmcd
