Production has begun in Tasmania, Australia on “Deadloch,” a noir comedy that will be an Amazon original series.
The story is set in the once sleepy seaside hamlet of Deadloch and begins after a man’s dead body is found on the beach. Two female detectives are thrown together to solve the case, one fastidious, the other a more rough and ready type from out of town. Along with an over-eager junior they have to pool forces to solve the case while the town is putting on its annual crafts, culture and cooking festival.
The eight-part show was conceived by comedy duo Kate McCartney and Kate McLennan and will star Kate Box, Madeleine Sami “The Breaker Upperers”), Alicia Gardiner (“Wakefield”) and Nina Oyama (“Utopia”), as well as an ensemble cast.
“Deadloch” is to be directed between February and May by acclaimed Australian directors Ben Chessell, Gracie Otto and Beck Cole.

Former Home and Away heartthrob Dieter Brummer has died aged 45.
The actor appeared in 557 episodes of the soap from 1991-96, playing Shane Parrish. He also had roles in Neighbours, Underbelly, and Winners & Losers.
Nsw Police confirmed that local officers responded to reports of a concern for welfare at a home in Glenhaven, Sydney on Saturday and that the body of a man was located inside the home. His death is not believed to be suspicious.
In a statement, Brummer’s family confirmed the “handsome, funny, complicated, and beloved” actor had died on Saturday morning.
I wrote for him on H and A and later on Crash Palace where he was a senior cast member and was really modest and helpful to everyone. Rip https://t.co/YBCNOcCEtT

Her career included films such as Harlequin (1980) and Turkey Shoot, as well as staples of Australian television, such as You Can't See 'Round Corners, the cop shows Division 4 and Homicide, soap opera Number 96, and television classics such as The Young Doctors and Skyways.
Duncan was nominated for an Australian Film Institute (AFI) award in 1980 for her work in Harlequin. But it was on television where Duncan perfected the art of playing sophisticated, independent and successful women.
In the 1980s Duncan moved to the United States and conquered the world of daytime television, securing the role of businesswoman Iris Carrington Wheeler in the long-running soap opera Another World.

Blumhouse Television’s new Hulu series “Into the Dark” is providing an unique opportunity for genre directors to produce new work. The anthology horror series launched in October, with the plan to have a new entry released each month tied to a holiday. However, unlike other anthology series, each episode is actually feature-length, which means that Blumhouse is producing one new horror movie every month. October’s Halloween-centric “The Body” allowed director Paul Fisher to expand on his short film of the same name, while cult genre filmmaker Nacho Vigalondo’s Christmas-centric “Pooka!” premiered today to rave reviews.
The next entry in the series, IndieWire has learned, comes from a filmmaker familiar from the festival circuit: Sophia Takal, the director of “Green” and “Always Shine,” helmed the all-female horror movie “New Year New You” for the series. The 85-minute feature will premiere on Hulu on December 28.

Pete McTighe.
As the originating writer of Wentworth, Pete McTighe never imagined he would be able to fulfill a childhood dream of joining the creative team on the BBC’s Doctor Who.
So he was shocked when he got an email from Chris Chibnall, the showrunner on the iconic show’s 11th season, who was aware of his work which includes episodes of Glitch, The Doctor Blake Mysteries, Winners & Losers and Nowhere Boys.
A few days later they chatted on Skype. The result: “Suddenly I found myself plonked right at the heart of Doctor Who, in the engine room,” the UK-born McTighe tells If.
“It’s not like I didn’t work for it – I’d sacrificed a lot and focused a great deal of time and energy over many years to get to the stage where I could even be in the frame for a job this massive...
