Part Travelogue, Part Romance
atlasmb20 February 2022
In this second part of the Wedding Veil trilogy, Emma (Autumn Reeser) travels to Italy to teach an art class and she meets Paolo (Paolo Bernardini), whose family makes lace products. They set out to uncover the story behind the wedding veil that Emma and her friends purchased in the U. S.

This Hallmark romance focuses on the beauty of the cities where they filmed on Location: Padua, Venice, Verona and Sofia. For that alone, I would watch this film. As for the romance, it develops slowly as they trace the history of the veil through the generations, including another love story that explains the journey of the veil through the years.

Besides beautiful architectural elements, Ms. Reeser's wardrobe is notable for its style. And Mr. Bernardini is charming as the perfect guide for Emma's journey. Together, they make a sweet couple.

A Quest Romance
Jackbv12326 February 2022
Actually more than what my title says. Romance. A Quest. A Travelog. History.

I noted a while back that Lacey Chabert had done a string of Hallmark movies that were stories set in interesting places. Travelogs. I find it interesting that Chabert was the architect of this series, yet Reeser gets to do the travel story.

While the story itself had no great highs or lows, surprises or tension (other than the romantic), with all those things above going on it still is enough to be worth watching.

The provenance of the veil has no great historical import, but it is a nice story. The travel scenery is pretty good in this movie.

Autumn Reeser and Paolo Bernardini have decent chemistry. With so many things going on I'm surprised the movie managed enough screen time to pull of the romantic chemistry.

Bellissimo

I loved this 2nd film in the The Wedding Veil series. It's such a refreshing change to the usual Hallmark films & loved the history behind the veil. The locations are absolutely stunning - Italy is my favourite European country. Autumn Reeser is one of my favourite Hallmark actors & there was chemistry between her & Paolo. Whoever choose Autumn's wardrobe had impeccable taste. I can't wait for my Wedding Veil Legacy DVD to arrive from the US.

It was ok
rhonnie-4313915 February 2022
I found it less enjoyable than the first one. I just didn't care much for the plot. I usually like the lead actress in other movies. It was just boring to me. It seemed too long. There was only conflict at the very end of the movie and the way it was resolved was silly.

I probably will not watch it again. I hope the last one has a better storyline.

Such lovely natural love progression. And quite a beautiful celebration of Italian culture
kazykoki3 March 2022
Romantic, dripping with culture, sweet and absolutely transporting!! This was so masterfully written and acted that I am just beside myself with appreciation.

If you love a romance story that develops naturally over time set in the backdrop of celebration of Italian culture and family, then this my darling is the watch for you. Bellisimo!!!

I don't usually give Hallmark movies a 10 rating because 9 out of 10 of them are usually quite cookie cutter. So that in of itself should tell you how lovely this was. It is going on the list of my favorite romantic movies of all time without even batting an eyelid!

In part two of the trilogy, The Wedding Veil Unveiled, Autumn Reeser is going to Italy to teach an Art History class for a month or two. She is taking the veil with her to confirm that it is the same veil in the portrait, and if so, to learn the history behind it. For one thing, how did it get to San Francisco? First of all, if I were Lacey Chabert or Alison Sweeney I would be royally p.o.ed that Autumn Reeser got to go to Italy for her part of the trilogy, and I didn't. The beautifully photographed scenes in that country were one of the best parts of this one. While Autumn and her love interest are investigating the story behind the veil worn in the portrait by the fictional artist Amici we vicariously explore some beautiful destinations including Venice, Verona, Burano, and Padua. No Rome, and I didn't miss it at all.

It seemed like their were more side-stories in this one than is usual. The story behind the Veil was intriguing and well thought out. They brought in some hurdles for Autumn to overcome in teaching her Art History class which were engaging. It was good that they had the capable and poised Autumn screw up a little bit. Her buttoned up personality needed to be loosened up. Her love interest, Paolo, had his own problems. He was part of a family that has been in the lace business for generations. We get to know his large loving family, which was nice. But he wants to expand the business, and his father is too cautious and conservative. One of the stories, about the young Italian student who couldn't afford the tuition came out of left field and was basically a time-filler since it was completely untethered to anything else going on in the stories. Since we didn't have baking shenanigans, ice skating or snowball fights? With the extraneous details given about the boy's situation, it seemed like they were going hook it in somewhere, but in the end, they just didn't get it done.

Although the male lead was handsome and likable, the romance was just so-so, and more than a little routine. But I liked the meet cute and the meet cute part II. And when the final scene showed them getting married I admit I had an "Awwhh" moment. Maybe there was just too much other stuff going on.

I just want to add that Autumn's wardrobe in this was beautiful and well chosen and she looked great. I questioned a lot of the choices for (or by?) Lacey Chabert in part I, but the only thing that was a little questionable in this one was her choice of shoes to go sightseeing in. She looked very uncomfortable. Part 3 featuring the cynical unromantic Alison Sweeney character was well set up and I'm looking forward to it.

A little better than the first
MickyG33329 January 2023
7.8 stars.

I think the reason it's better for me is because I like Autumn Reeser the most out of the three female leads of Wedding Veil. The Italian cityscape and countryside was very welcoming. I don't know how much was filmed in Italy, but let's just go with it, because it appears authentic. This film's magic is in the setting, the charm and energy of the people, and the interactions between the leads. Reeser is single and teaching art history to a bunch of Italian college students who are difficult to please. Her secondary mission is to trace the origin of the Veil. She meets a wonderful Italian man and they fall in love.

I must note there are too many coincidences with him and his family. How many times can you run into the same guy in a city that size, only to find out his family is directly linked to this mysterious artifact (the veil) that grants that you will find true love? However, this story is leaning toward the veil being magical because it's the veil itself that grants true love to those who come in contact with it. So the people don't find true love, the veil creates true love. Hard to explain. Basically, in other words, the veil is like love potion #9. If you drink the potion, you fall in love with that person, so it is with the veil, if you touch it or have it in your possession, you fall in love with someone in close proximity. The veil must be present in that location for love to happen there. At least that's what I've witnessed so far. This may change as I view additional installments of this series.

The family is wonderful, they are classic Italians. They have a multi-generational family business, they share all activities, including lunch every day. They chat, laugh, and argue a lot - vintage Italian. She joins him and his family for lunch and they spend a lot of time together, and the family loves her right away.

Good feeling with this one. I like it better than the first.

Charm in Italy
TheLittleSongbird7 March 2023
Really liked the first film in the Wedding Veil trilogy and there was a lot going for 'The Wedding Veil Unveiled'. Seeing Italy on screen is reason enough to see any film and while Hallmark vary when it comes to their films set abroad they always deliver on the beautiful scenery front, and some of the most beautiful scenery comes from Italy. Like Lacey Chabert in the first, Autumn Reeser is one of the best and most consistent regular Hallmark actresses and most of her filmography is worthwhile.

'The Wedding Veil Unveiled' is as every bit as well worth watching level as 'The Wedding Veil' and a good start to the 2022 Loveuary (new for Hallmark that year) output. Personally didn't think that story-wise it was as good as its predecessor, though the male lead character is much more likeable, but it succeeds a lot more than it doesn't and the best of the many good things are very good. Hallmark has always varied when it comes to its sequels, and 'The Wedding Veil Unveiled' is one of the better faring ones.

Not everything works. It would have actually benefitted from not having as much going on. There is a lot of content, and it did feel like there was too much and some of it didn't have much time to be fleshed out. The Italian student subplot sounded very relatable but felt like padding and is too indifferently written.

Pacing can be on the rushed side, especially when things get more eventful later. The ending is a touch too on the neat side.

Reeser however is very bubbly and charming, while Paolo Benardini is very likeable and matches her in the easy going charm factor. It was a great move having real Italians making up most of the cast and all do very well in their roles, loved the energy and how much the film embraced the Italian culture without stereotyping or generalising. Had no problem with the accents and way of speaking, Italian is a beautiful language and the film is set in Italy, it makes sense to have Italian spoken and a lot of it. Chabert and Alison Sweeney appeal in smaller roles. Reeser and Benardini have very sweet and genuine chemistry together, though the romance perhaps could have had more screen time.

Furthermore, the characters do not bore or irritate on the whole, while also not being as stereotypical as Hallmark characters tend to be. The production values are attractive, with Venice (one of the most beautiful cities) in particularly being absolutely sublime. It's directed with assured confidence with no signs of fatigue or disinterest. The music is not unforgettable but it at least fits and is pleasant on the ear. The script has light hearted playful wit and doesn't get too sappy or too sentimental. Any conflict, which is not a lot, is unforced and has tension, which is not always the case with Hallmark, and it goes at a natural flow. Really liked the upbeatness of the storytelling, as well as its endless bags of light-heartedness, cute charm and warm heart.

Summing up, didn't blow me away but very nice film. 7/10.

Enjoyable
LtlHippo13 February 2022
Enjoyed this one more than the first in the trilogy. The guy in the first one was so clueless. Not a huge fan of Lacey. Loved all the characters in Unveiled. Everyone had great chemistry. The storyline was nice. Wish we would know the value of the veil. Looking forward to #3. Wish Hallmark would do more trilogies.

Not a terrible move, but really slow. I like Autumn Reeser and was cute as usual. The male lead was likable. The scenery was beautiful. The movie was just terribly boring.

Beautiful Italian interlude filled with lace and romance.
cgvsluis16 February 2022
This is the second film in Hallmark's Love-u-ary The Wedding Veil trilogy and is about the second of three college friends who purchase a veil together in San Francisco at an antique shop. The veil has a legacy of love and it is said that whoever has the veil will find true love.

The veil started with Lacy Chabert's character, Avery Morrison an aspiring Art Curator at a museum in Chicago. She meets and marries her true love while in possession of the veil, a wealthy trust fund baby and benefactor of the museum. Avery and her now husband uncover a lost Italian painting at the museum that seems to depict their exact veil on the portrait of a woman.

In this, the second film, The Wedding Veil Unveiled, Autumn Reeser's character Emma Lowell takes the veil back to Italy with her to see if she can find the origin or provenance of the veil. Emma is a professor of art and is to teach a section on American art in Padua, Italy. Her search for the origins of the veil lead her to Verona where they are famous for their lace and their still exists some of the oldest lace shops in Italy. During this excursion she meets Paolo...who just happens to be a relative of the woman in the painting and of the house where the lace was made. They are still in the business. The three girls think Paola's grandmother should have the veil and they agree to give it back to her. But there is some unfinished mysteries left...like why is Adrianna (the woman in the portrait) wearing the veil for the portrait...but then doesn't wear it for her actual wedding? As Paolo, a widower, and Emma try to find the answers they not only find a family secret, but find that they have feelings for one another.

This was sweet and romantic without being overly gushy. It hit just the right note...and the Italian scenery was different but still absolutely gorgeous. It was nice to see a big Italian family who works together and has their weekly business meeting over a table with food. There are some nice references to vintage films...both American and Italian and a several Italian proverbs are discussed...mainly about slowing down and being in the moment (something most Americans can take note of).

This was a wonderful second chapter in The Wedding Veil story and I can't wait for Alison Sweeney in part three! This is a must see for a romantic...in fact I enjoyed it so much I looked up the author who wrote the original books this series was based upon.

The Wedding Veil Unveiled
studioAT28 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
And so the wedding veil both literally and the franchise gets passed from Lacey Chabert (who just about kept part 1 afloat) to Autumn Reeser.

This didn't inspire much confidence in me, because while Reeser is one of Hallmark's stalwarts in terms of leading ladies (and they've been losing a few lately), her films can often be a bit patchy. She plays uptight characters who seem to take an age to soften.

Much like part 1, this just about works. The story feels thinner this time around, with the constant "oh, I bumped into the leading man" element wearing a bit thin.

Reeser remains likable though, and this had enough nice moments for me to stick with it, and go into part 3 with a vague sense of curiosity about how it will all end up.

Fine overall.

Best Hallmark movie in a long time!
cberry61014 February 2022
The first instalment in the series left so much to be desired (between lack of chemistry, a slow, boring plot and a male lead so absolutely clueless it was hard to understand how he dressed himself in the morning...) so I was hesitant to watch the sequel. I'm a huge fan of Autumn Reeser and am also Italian living in Italy so I wanted to see what this movie had to offer.

I was pleasantly surprised by everything about this movie! The plot was pleasant and engaging (rare in the current Hallmark repertoire) but it was the (mostly) correct use of Italian that really sold me on it. The accents aren't horrendously fake like in some past hallmark movies, the male lead is a Belgian born Italian and the grammar and sayings are spot on! This was a huge step up from the usual disasters that ensue when low-budget (and even high budget, in some cases) movies try to tap into a different culture.

Not only did the story have some meat but the characters all had good chemistry. I felt like they really tried to stay true to a lot of Italian customs and beliefs and made good use of both the location and the language to enrich and further the plot.

A+ - the first in a long time for Hallmark.

Good actor chemistry, beautiful cinematography. Felt like I was there AGAIN. I left a note! Wish it were more than a trilogy...a series would have been just fine with me. Very sensitive writing, historically accurate.

This movie truely captured the feel of Venice and the surrounding area. I enjoyed the storyline about the mystery of the veil and the chemistry between the leading actors and cast. Paolo Bernardini was amazing.

The Wedding Veil Unveiled
JoBloTheMovieCritic19 March 2022
5/10 - usually I am not a big fan of the Hallmark dramas where they go abroad, but Autumn Reeser did fairly well with this one but it still felt a little too gimicky and not worth the talent of the 3 ladies involved.

Great sequel
hallmarkmov16 February 2022
There was a lot going on in this movie! I loved Italy, I love the leads, the side characters, and the story was such a mystery! Had no idea how it was going to end. I had guessed the student would play a larger role but seems he was a way to tie the first movie to this one. It was a beautifully shot movie and lovely story. There may have been too many b storylines that took away from the main story. I thought the first one was simpler and you could enjoy it at a slow pace. This one was a bit quick with so much going on. But I still loved it. Watched it twice already!

Great Movie

I usually watch Hallmark's mysteries and occasionally watch their romances. I liked the first installment of this trilogy, but I liked the added mystery of the history of the veil in this second installment. It was like a mystery and romance rolled into one.

Bella & Beautiful
jlbsword13 February 2022
This was such a sweet, romantic, and touching story of love, both past and present. Autumn, (one of my favourites) was perfect in this role. And Paolo was the icing on a wonderful Italian cake. The scenery of Italy and especially of Venice was just lovely to see and brought a few tears to my eyes. The Italian side of my family came from just north of this area. I wish I could have had one more trip back, but this movie helped transport me to this place in my heart. The story of the veil and all of it's history added to this beautiful movie.

OMG... IT'S BRUTAL!!!!!!!
teebear81719 February 2022
Straight men, do not watch this. You will want to jump off a bridge in 30 minutes. It is 100% a chick flick. It's about one of the 3 women.... 1. The skinny brunette. Set in Italy. It's all about one person, Lacey and Alison are only seen on the phone here and there. So much Italian is spoken you will scream, then when it's a English, the Italian accents are strong and irritating. Awful, just awful, trust me. I was forced to watch this cause my wife liked it. Brutal!!!!

Hallmark needs to get some new writers. Seriously the plots of their movies are all the same. The Wedding Veil has to be the most stupidest movies of all. They are not even engaged but buy a wedding veil. 😂😂😂😂

Not so bene
melanie-fell2 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This did not start off well, and remained lukewarm at best. The only things that kept it afloat were the gorgeous scenery and Paolo. The opening scene was as wooden as it gets, and when Emma and Paolo are first introduced she is so unbelievably unlikeable I want to kick her off the vaporetto platform into the canal. She is apologizing to the people she is obviously holding up in line, but refuses help and continues to stab at buttons on the ticket machine. Then she continues to be a nightmare in scene after scene as Paolo continues to be charming - the contrast is not pleasant to watch. Her character never seems to get off the ground and I never warmed up to her. Her acting was uninspired and I did not believe anything she said or did - she was bubbly but bland. Zero depth. On the other hand, Paolo and Francesca were delightful, and I very much enjoyed their performances.

It was ridiculous that Nonna was celebrating her 85th birthday. The actress is 65 in real life, and looked it.

What was the point of uncovering Arianna's illegitimate child and her will? This was so random and went nowhere. I thought maybe it would have ended up being a source of funds for Luca's tuition, but it just went nowhere. I also thought the forboding way Emma's boss warned her about consequences for allowing Luca to audit just fizzling into nothing was nonsense.

This was a disappointment, but I must be a glutton for punishment because I'm still going to watch the last movie in the trilogy.
