- The top 9 contestants dance a contemporary group performance choreographed by Jamel Gaines. Cirque du Soleil's Viva Elvis perform, as well as Ne-Yo. The dancers with the least viewer votes perform solos.
- Thursday night's results show on "So You Think You Can Dance" opened with a dramatic group number choreographed by Jamel Gaines.
Executive producer Nigel Lythgoe announced some changes coming next week. Each of the dancers will do two routines, one with an all-star with whom they haven't danced yet and the other with one of their competitors.
To the results: Host Cat Deeley called the first four dancers to the stage. The first to hear some results was Alex, whose hip-hop routine was one of the best performances the show has ever had. He was safe. Next was Ashley, who dance contemporary with Ade. She was also safe.
That left Adechike and Kent on stage, thinking one of them would likely land in the bottom three. Adechike danced hip-hop and Kent did a Mandy Moore jazz routine. Adechike was safe ... and so was Kent.
The next three dancers hit the stage. Lauren danced Broadway with Neil and she was safe. That left Robert and Billy on stage with all three spots in the bottom three still available. Robert danced a Sonya Tayeh jazz piece with Courtney. Billy joined Kathryn for a Stacey Tookey contemporary piece. Billy was the first person in the bottom three ... and Robert was joining him.
Mia said voters weren't connecting with Billy and Robert because the dancers weren't connecting through their dancing. She told Billy to become vulnerable and take some risks. She then told Robert that his personality doesn't go with him onto the stage.
The final two dancers came onto center stage. Melinda danced salsa with Pasha and was roundly criticized by the judges. Jose did a samba with Anya. The person in the bottom three was Melinda. Jose was safe.
Adam told her that her dance "didn't really happen" for her. He told her to show "vulnerability and abandon" in her solo.
Be our guest...: All-stars Mark and Courtney served up an encore performance of their now-infamous Sonya Tayeh routine. Then Cirque du Soleil paid a visit to perform bits of its Elvis show.
After the solos, Ne-yo performed "Beautiful Monster."
The result: Nigel said the judges were unanimous in their decision an quickly told Billy and Robert that they needed to discover for themselves what wasn't connecting with viewers. He told them to take a seat.
Nigel praised Melinda for her dancing and said she'll never have trouble finding work. But her time on the show was over.
