In Berlin inflation is galloping, the workforce is starving and the department store of the west is struggling to survive. Despite the uncertainty and worries, the world shines in sensual colors for the young KaDeWe saleswoman Hedi. She enjoys the nights in the avant-garde nightclub "Eldorado" and the freedom of her secret liaison with Fritzi, the daughter of KaDeWe owner Adolf Jandorf. Meanwhile, KaDeWe junior manager Harry is increasingly losing control of his life: trauma, drugs, excesses. While Harry's hubris becomes a risk factor, accountant Georg keeps the department store running. A currency reform that lets everyone start from scratch gives hope.
