- TriviaThis is the first episode in nine series not to feature Mrs. McCarthy (Sorcha Cusack).
- GoofsIn the holiday camp, a maid speaks about a drowning that happened long before the year of the story (which is set in 1953) (presumably in the late 1930's). She was going to apply "the kiss of life" to the victim, that is mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. However, this lifesaving method wasn't described until 1957 (by Dr Peter Safar).

Joe Maplin has nothing to worry about at Chummy's.
Father Brown, Inspector Mallory, Sergeant Goodfellow are all invited to a weekend at Chummy's Holiday Camp, naturally when they're there.....it's murder.
Divisive, you are either going to love it or hate it, and I'd say if you're having a bad day, you'll hate it. As I've not long had gas, I absolutely loved it.
It was as if Hi Dr hi was mixed up with Death in Paradise and Spitting Image. It was pretty funny, but there was an engaging enough crime.
No Sid, Bunty, Lady Felicia or even Mrs M (shock horror) it was great to see Sergeant Goodfellow almost step into the roll of Father Brown's assistant. I liked the setup.
We had caricatures of them all, Ted, Peggy, Pike and of course Gladys. Mavis was an almost cardboard cutout of the beloved Peggy Ollerenshaw, so desperate to be an orange (yellow) coat, and of course Mrs Chummy is like a mix of Gladys and The Queen from Spitting Image, I love how exaggerated her costumes were.
Some gorgeous costumes, amazing costumes throughout, it really did look nice.
The writer and production team clearly had a hoot with this one, and though it's one I don't think I'll return to frequently, but as a one off, it was a laugh, nice to see them trying something a little different.
Fun, 7/10.
