What's This Movie About Again?
nammage22 September 2017
Warning: Spoilers
First off, the sound in this is awful. Be prepared to turn it high in most scenes. Secondly, if this is a 'Comedy', I had no clue what was supposed to be funny: the beginning where two guys drive an hour out to some other city for a midnight drug deal where the muscle is a girl who wears skin tight clothes pointing a gun? If so, that scene is 'funny' for a whole different reason. Thirdly, parts of the film plays out as a documentary without reason as to why. Meaning: it didn't start out that way it just introduced it after the opening scene which seemed nonsensical.

Sometimes in these low budget films the soundtrack is better than the film and is heard better throughout. The soundtrack is better but it's barely heard just as everything else is barely heard. I couldn't really follow the film. I don't know if it was sheer boredom, or because it kept going from the main 'stage' to the intercuts of what I believe was a 'documentary' aspect but then I thought, "Maybe they all got arrested and they're talking to the police?" and that would make sense based on the drug dealers, guns, drug users etc., and that was it (still though with documentary aspect) but then my mind wandered and I stopped caring. One actor had it right, "This movie just sucks. I'm just here for the paycheck." Of course he was speaking of the one in the film and not this film but I think it could apply to both. Actually, the guy who said that who says similar things throughout, is the best actor in this film; probably because he tells it like it is and the words just flow so easily -- because he believes the words.

I really can't tell what the worst part of this film is. It's not the music, I enjoyed the music. The direction wasn't very good but when kept to what could have been the main story. It did seem focused, the script was bad but not the worst, the acting, at times, was horrible and other times: not so bad. It seemed like a mesh of a mess. Like a group of a production crew got together and decided to make a film based on what they perceived to be an arduous undertaking on the films they've made and to place a comedic element to it; and if that were the case, that would be hilarious in of itself but just because you're the crew that doesn't necessarily mean you can make a film yourself, in my opinion. And, if that's true of those who made this film then this film proves that opinion as correct.

The film ended for me about 40 minutes in but I watched the rest to write this review but I barely paid attention to it. It was way too long for 1 hr 14 min. Would've worked better as a short, or something. Probably not even that. Who knows? It's funny because after awhile it seemed as if they were just standing around waiting for their film (not the film in the film) to end. They had a gag reel at the end...it wasn't funny either.
