Unwatchable

Keeping it real, I want to note that at this writing there are several "10" ratings for this abysmal movie that raise the overall score to a level that is beyond belief. Clearly these outlyers were done by people involved in this horrible movie.

The film is amateurish. It's taped in HD and the director didn't know enough to correct some of the issues involved in this style of film- making in post production.

For example, sometimes the colors are over saturated, other times the lighting bleaches out the actors faces. The story is idiotic and overdrawn. Characters are not interesting and the acting is horrible.

This really looks like a weekend project shot using a $300 DV camera.

I'm so tired of people trying to make a name for themselves by stacking the reviews. It's despicable.

Great movie, interesting additions to the plot, developed characters

Eva was my favorite character! I was able to relate to her! The acting and plot really tied you emotionally into the movie. One of the best parts of this movie, in my opinion, is that the people in the movie weren't all drowning in makeup. I prefer to watch movies when it seems like a real situation. The cult was honestly the most interesting part to me. I loved loved loved the leader of the cult, her name was Star, a fairly fitting name for her role! The astrology was an interesting touch, something that seems to be fairly popular today, but not a topic touched on in the movie industry. I really loved watching the movie, and I highly suggest everyone who comes across this movie watches it!

A great story of friendship

I fell in love with the book "Dance Sisters" and had just finished reading it when I discovered it was made into a movie! Although many changes were made to the original storyline (that's to be expected) I quite enjoyed this adaptation. It was fun to see the author's vision of his characters and see them actually sing and dance the way I couldn't quite visualize while reading the book. It's hard to help a friend who doesn't want to be helped, especially when they've hurt you by not fulfilling their promises, but Moana won't give up on Eva or Butterfly Crush. Moana has such a kind heart and really cares about Eva, and she will do anything to save her friend and their music career – even taking on the wonderfully sinister Dreamguide leader Star! Watching this was like getting a back-stage pass to the wonderful and drama filled life of an Aussie rising star. I liked the way the end wrapped everything up. I was sad to say goodbye to these characters but I just discovered some fantastic music videos by the girls on Youtube! Now that is pretty cool. Love indie films as I feel like I can really relate to the characters.

Wonderful Adaptation of the Book DANCE SISTERS
I have read three books by this author and watched this movie, which is the film version of the book DANCE SISTERS. The author of the book, Alan Clay, is the writer and director of the movie.

This film has won one award and is set in Australia. The musical duo, Butterfly Crush, has been selected to perform in a song/dance contest that could give them superstar status. Things get slightly off kilter though when one of the members becomes involved in a cult.

What did I like about the movie? The honesty of the dialogue, which followed the novel almost exactly, was spot on and very natural for the actors. The actress who played Star was very sexy and perfect for the role of villain. The soundtrack is excellent. If it wasn't for the allusions to sex, the musical numbers reminded me of the High School Musical franchise. The numbers are very well choreographed.

Who would like this? Viewers of small-house art films would enjoy this movie,as well as young folks who enjoy movies about the music industry. Although it is set in Australia, most audiences from all countries can relate as the storyline is a universal one. The reflection scene on the river (harbor?) was a great touch and added a touch of subtle allusion to human duplicity (at least in my eye).

My verdict: Right now it is free for Amazon Prime members, so it's definitely worth the watch. I don't know how much it costs to rent or buy. The movie length is almost an hour and a half. I watched it while drinking my morning coffee. It was a nice way to start my day.
