Unexpected
freejoyhart3 March 2024
I actually liked this final episode of Season 1 because the ending was totally unexpected. I was starting to see all the pieces of the puzzle come together & out of left field Danny does something to resolve what he's learned about his daughter. It was totally gratifying to watch. I won't list the spoiler here. You'll have to watch it for yourself! The acting for this entire season is absolutely marvelous. I got totally wrapped up in it & watched all 8 episodes in one sitting. And I usually don't like cliff hangers, but this one is very subtle because the main story was resolved, and yet there was just a few loose ends that were made clear at the end of this episode, enough to wet my appetite to look forward to Season 2!

Disappointing.

Danny presents some new evidence to Jackie, and demands a new post mortem.

This should have been a dramatic and tense finale, but it just doesn't work. After seven episodes, I was hoping for something a lot better than this.

At least we have a trio of actors at work here, sadly each character is very hard to relate to, empathise with, or even like. Jackie is the most loathsome of the lot, wow, she is one cold hearted woman.

This one does at least have some nice visuals, the production is a little more polished here.

Overall, it's been a bit of a disappointment, sadly this final episode was a bit of a chore, 5/10.

Warning: Spoilers
This one is all about Danny. Armed with an important piece of information missed by the pathologist.

He turns up on Jackie Sowden's (Joely Richardson) doorstep. Demanding an answer about an important omission to her post mortem report.

By this time the audience can sense that Jackie has been up to no good. Especially when she displays her shock regarding the injuries sustained by Ryan. She has been having an affair with him and both somehow got involved in Danny's daughter's death.

Richard (Ben Miller) shows up as well. He might be involved but only in the sense that he too has been having an affair, with Danny's ex wife.

The whole thing was too bitty, too unconvincing. It was like a stage play transplanted to television without much visual flair.
