- Open with Emma inviting Will to the Christmas Eve party she and Carl are having. He passes. Beiste passes out names for the Secret Santa. Will gets Sue's name.
Brittany seems to still believe in Santa Claus.
The Glee kids trim a tree and sing "The Most Wonderful Day of the Year" from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964). Will comes in and the kids tell him the tree fell of someone's car and the ornaments and fake presents were basically stolen. They feel like it represents them, as despite winning sectionals two years in a row they are being covered with slushies. In an effort to raise money for a local youth program Will wants the kids to go caroling throughout the school. Despite fear "we'll be killed," Finn thinks they should give it a shot.
Students and teachers hate the Glee kids' caroling, hurling objects at them and saying "you're making me hate Christmas."
Artie tells the club Brittany still believes in Santa. Rachel says she wants to meet with Finn the next day. Artie wants them to try and help keep Brittany believing: "I've got it all figured out," he says.
The Glee takes the kids to see a Santa. Each of them sits on his lap and make their requests as Brittany looks on. Brittany asks for just one thing this year: For Artie to be able to walk. Santa says he can do it.
Rachel has a winter wonderland set up in the auditorium and she gives Finn a gift. It is a certificate for one song sung by Rachel. She wants to apologize, but Finn says he isn't ready and leaves. Regardless, Rachel sings The Carpenters' "Merry Christmas, Darling."
We see Will writing a list of possible gift ideas for Sue: "Dog Robot," "A soul."
Kurt helps Blaine practice a performance of "Baby, It's Cold Outside." After Blaine leaves Will shows up looking for help Christmas shopping for Sue. He says he has "the perfect idea."
Will runs into Emma in the hall and she says she also got Sue in the drawing. Beiste says the same thing and they realize Sue rigged the drawing so she would get gifts from everyone. She says that if anybody tries to take their presents back she'll have them arrested. They leave in disgust.
The next day Will takes all the presents back from Sue. She complains it is stealing but HR backed up Will's version of things. The gifts will go to a homeless shelter.
Artie and a few guys tell Beiste the problem with Brittany and Santa. She agrees to play Santa and tell them fixing Artie's legs is still a few years away.
Sue seems to be dressing up like the Grinch, with Becky as her "reindog" helper. As Sue sings a version of "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch" from How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (1966), we see her and Becky stealing back all the presents from the choir room. Brittany happens to walk in with a present for the homeless kids and Sue pretends to be Santa, bringing everything back to his workshop.
The next day they find everything missing. The kids think it was other students, but Will realizes it was Sue. Brittany tells them it was Santa and they have to keep up the ruse. The plan is to try and somehow save Christmas.
Rachel and Finn go shopping for a tree. He's still giving her the cold shoulder and they sing Wham!'s "Last Christmas" on opposite sides of the lot. She tries to kiss Finn and tells him it's time for her to forgive him. He's says he's still too hurt. He officially dumps her.
Will stops the kids from selling their watches and hair to raise money. He brings up "The Gift of the Magi" and reminds them what counts about the season. He takes them to find people to sing for.
Beiste shows up at Brittany's place a few days before Christmas (a "dry run") and tells her she doesn't think helping Artie walk is within Santa's powers. Brittany is upset.
The next day Brittany tells Artie she's lost the Christmas spirit. If Santa isn't magical she doesn't think she wants to believe anymore. She just doesn't think it's fair he can't walk. Artie takes her home.
The Glee club asks the faculty for help. We cut to Sue bragging about how she broke everybody's heart. She then is stunned to hear the sound of music coming from the faculty lounge. The kids are singing "Welcome Christmas" from How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (1966) and the teachers are all making donations. Sue and Becky walk to room and it seems Sue is moved.
The kids raised $210. When they return to the choir room they find Artie and Brittany. Artie is using a temporary (and very expensive) device that allows him to walk. It just showed up at Brittany's place and nobody knows how it got there. They think it was a Christmas miracle. We see Beiste watching from afar and smiling.
Will gets home and finds Sue is there. She has set up a tree and brought back bunch of the presents. She apologizes for stealing the presents and gives him a razor. All the kids surface from another room, not wanting him to be alone on the holiday. Will tells Sue he thought she hated Christmas: "No, I just hate you," she says.
