  Merle Dixon : [the group reluctantly raise their hands]  Yeah. That's good. Now that means I'm the boss, right? Yeah. Anybody else? Hmm? Anybody?

  Rick Grimes : Yeah.

  [when Rick punches Merle to the ground] 

• [Rick cuffs Merle to the rooftop while introducing himself] 

  Merle Dixon : Who the hell are you, man?

  Rick Grimes : Officer friendly.

• [Merle asks for T-Dog to give him the hacksaw out of their bag]

  T-Dog : [Merle jiggles the cuffs around his wrist]  So you can beat my ass again? Or call me nigger some more?

• [Merle tries begging the group to not leave him behind] 

  Merle Dixon : [the group moves to run down the stairway]  Hey, that's my gun. You can't leave me. Don't leave me here, you guys.

  Andrea : Morales, come on.

  Morales : I'm coming! We've gotta go!

  Merle Dixon : [as T-Dog hesitates]  Morales! You can't leave me like this, man! Hey, T-Dog. No, man. You can't leave me, man. You can't leave me here... Not like this. You can't, man. It's not human. Come on, don't do this.

• [T-Dog tries stopping Merle from shooting his rifle in the city] 

  T-Dog : Hey, Dixon, are you crazy?

  Andrea : Oh jeez.

  Merle Dixon : [Merle chuckles]  Hey! You oughta be more polite to a man with a gun! Huh? Ah! Only common sense.

• [Rick tells Merle it's common sense to be polite to a man with a gun] 

  Merle Dixon : Screw you, man.

  Rick Grimes : I can see you make a habit of missing the point.

  Merle Dixon : Yeah? Well, screw you twice.

  Rick Grimes : Ought to be polite to a man with a gun.

• [Rick tries to come up with a diversion to not be recognized by the Walkers] 

  Rick Grimes : That construction site, those trucks... They always keep keys on hand.

  Morales : You'll never make it past the Walkers.

  Rick Grimes : [Rick looks to Glenn]  You got me out of that tank.

  Glenn : Yeah, but they were feeding. They were distracted.

  Rick Grimes : Can we distract them again?

  Merle Dixon : Right. Listen to him. He's onto something. A diversion, like on 'Hogan's Heroes.'

• [the group from the rooftop watch Rick and Glenn walk along the street of Walkers, covered in guts] 

  Merle Dixon : That asshole is out on the street with the handcuff keys?

  [as T-Dog holds the key up from his pocket] 

• [Merle yells at T-Dog as he loses the key for his handcuffs]
