Each one of FromSoftware and Hidetaka Miyazaki’s games is pretty hard for any gamer. And without a doubt, this difficulty is what attracts most gamers to these games. Most of the fans know this long journey started back in 2009 with a game called Demon’s Souls. A soulslike game, pure at heart, gives gamers the kind of challenge they have never experienced before.
It was not much of a success initially, but it became a cult hit eventually. Many suggested that this game never got the success it deserved. Maybe that’s why Sony gave this game another chance and tasked Bluepoint to develop a remake exclusively for the PlayStation 5 console. While it was a brilliant remake, developer Bluepoint also added a bunch of new things to it, but one of those was something called the Fractured Mode.

Japanese designer and writer Hidetaka Miyazaki has several created award-winning video games as the director of FromSoftware. His Soulslike games, in particular, are very popular among the gaming community, but almost everyone agrees that one Soulslike game was butchered due to Miyazaki’s negligence.
Dark Souls 2
Miyazaki did an outstanding job setting up the Dark Souls series with 2011’s Dark Souls, but unfortunately, for the second game, Miyazaki wasn’t completely involved because he was more focused on 2015’s Bloodborne. As a result, Dark Souls II (2014) just couldn’t meet the expectations. While many fans believe that Dark Souls II doesn’t fit in, Miyazaki once explained how crucial the game was in setting up the future of the series.

Game director Hidetaka Miyazaki is not known for making wrong calls; over the years, he has made some very exceptional video games. From Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls to the most recent title, Elden Ring, he has made sure every person who plays this game finds it to be an unforgettable experience. And it appears he succeeded too; the game is without a doubt one of the most replayable games ever made.
Elden Ring is not the only game where he has assured such excellence. He has done this before with most, or almost every, one of his games. The best part is that DLCs for all of these titles have also remained an equally enjoyable experience. But Hidetaka Miyazaki himself suggests that one Dlc remains a reason for regret for him.

Hidetaka Miyazaki is one of the most renowned directors in the gaming industry, but that does not make him immune to making a few mistakes throughout his career. While his storytelling skills remain impeccable, the director himself has admitted how he could have improved a certain aspect of a Dark Souls 3 Dlc when it was still possible to do so.

As the majority of gamers would already know, one of the most prominent features of titles produced by Hidetaka Miyazaki is how they feature an insane amount of difficulty. According to the director himself, the difficulty is put in place to help the players gain a sense of achievement when they are finally done overcoming the hardship in the level design.
Games made by Hidetaka Miyazaki are known for their insane level of difficulty
What is more intriguing about the games created by Miyazaki is that despite having a difficulty level that might be too much for the players to handle at times, they do not even feature an option to tone it down a bit. This has been something that FromSoftware has even received criticism for in the past, with the studio refusing to change its stance on it.

Demon’s Souls‘ journey has been nothing short of jaw-dropping. Doomed from its inception as a failed project at FromSoftware, it was taken over by a certain enterprising developer named Hidetaka Miyazaki, and the rest is history.

For players who love challenges in their games, FromSoftware games have been their top picks for several years now. Especially when it comes to hitless runs, many even today consider FromSoftware games to be the pinnacle of difficult challenges in gaming.
For the uninitiated, a no-hit run in a game is when a player completes a game from start to finish without taking any hits. A loss of health or a stagger caused by an enemy or trap is considered to be a hit. Hits could include attacks from enemies that do not deal damage as well as status effects, such as poison.
Dark Souls
To complete such no-hit runs, players often indulge in quitouts, major skips, or glitches. Completing such no-hit runs in FromSoftware games is no ordinary feat. Given that the games are generally challenging and difficult, no-hit runs in these games are no cakewalk.

When Elden Ring was released back in 2022, one thing was sure; it brought along the potential to expand faithfully on the ranks of the Dark Souls. Besides, one of the biggest USPs of the game was that it brought together the worldbuilding talents of the acclaimed fantasy author George R.R. Martin and the extraordinary vision of game director Hidetaka Miyazaki.

Hidetaka Miyazaki’s games, from Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro, and Elden Ring, have rich and complex lore. In fact, difficult gameplay and complex lore have become his signature elements. Although Miyazaki has created several iconic games over the years, Elden Ring is the latest jewel of his career.
Elden Ring
Elden Ring has a vast and cryptic lore, thanks to Miyazaki’s collaboration with George R. R. Martin. While Miyazaki worked on the game’s story and characters, Martin created the overall mythology for Elden Ring. His narrative was the backstory that set the events of the game.

FromSoftware’s action-RPGs, particularly the Soulsborne series, have become synonymous with a unique brand of storytelling. Unlike games that spoonfeed narratives through cutscenes and exposition, FromSoftware’s stories are conveyed to players in a fragmented format.
This approach was pioneered by director Hidetaka Miyazaki, making players feel like they’re figuring the lore out for themselves and letting them interpret it in their own way. Dark Souls 3 was much the same in this regard, but apparently, Miyazaki does know the “perfect storyline” for the series.

This was all thanks to its captivating world and engaging combat mechanics. This game, like most other Soulslike titles, was directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, but one other big name was also involved with its development: George R. R. Martin.

Bloodborne was a fresh approach to the subgenre, but it carried on the Soulslike element of Miyazaki’s Dark Souls series. Just like 2018’s Déraciné, Hidetaka Miyazaki’s 2019 game Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice was different from other games that Miyazaki worked on with FromSoftware. Every soulslike game is in its own way different. While they might seem alike on the surface, games like Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls are different. There are a bunch of factors that make them stand apart: stories, characters, character progression, and most importantly, weapons. While these games often share weapon names, their functions are often pretty different from each other.
On the other hand, fans end up getting heavily upgraded versions of those weapons. Those weapons are often upgraded using the souls of bosses that players defeat. They can then fuse that boss’ soul to their weapon and get a more powerful one. Bloodborne does not have many weapons, nor does it have the ability to fuse weapons, yet this game has the most variety in weapons in a special way.

So, you’ve done it. Elden Ring has fallen to your gaming prowess, and you know The Lands Between like the back of your hand. Well, there’s only one question left: “What’s next?”. You may have taken the seat as Elden Lord, but there is still much to do before you sheathe your sword.
From finding all possible weapons to ending the dominance of every boss in the game, here are seven things you can do to keep yourself busy and your skills sharp.
1. New Game+
Embark on a new and more challenging Elden Ring quest.
This may seem like a no-brainer, but what’s better than going through the game once? Going through it a second time will further optimize your all-game build. It’s not going to be as easy as you expect. Enemies have their health and damage scaled as well, so don’t think...

One of the major video games that Bethesda has released recently is the space-exploring Aaa title Starfield. However, despite taking nearly a decade to develop and produce the game, it still lacks in a few areas, ultimately prompting fans to resort to other games instead of this one for the time being.
Main cover for Starfield
Furthermore, a matter of concern for fans has been how the studio could have potentially invested the amount of money spent in Starfield’s development in another game, particularly Fallout 5. For added context, the Fallout series has been in the spotlight recently as the franchise just got a live-action adaptation released for fans to enjoy their favorite video game series in a new form.

FromSoftware’s Soulsborne games are considered to be the greatest action-adventure games ever made. Both works of Hidetaka Miyazaki display the creator’s uniqueness and creativity to its full potential.
Dark Souls
Although Bloodborne came from the same hood of FromSoftware as Dark Souls, it is a whole different game altogether. It is often confused as it is similar to Dark Souls. However, it is an independent game IP in a unique setting. The two franchises even have their separate fanbases that often indulge in debates over the superiority of the games.

Back in 2015 ahead of Bloodborne‘s launch, Miyazaki spilled some interesting facts about the then-upcoming game in an exclusive interview with PlayStation. The creator was asked about the rumors on the internet regarding Bloodborne not having as many weapons as seen in the Souls games.

If you believe Elden Ring‘s Hidetaka Miyazaki’s games are depressing, it may just be down to how Miyazaki sees the world. Having worked on the Dark Souls franchise and Sekiro, Miyazaki explained in an interview that his grim views stemmed from his belief that a happy and bright world just wasn’t practically possible.
Elden Ring was released after this interview, and the title carried forward the soul-like genre set in an even more dark and dead world. Fans don’t seem to mind that, however, as the new Soulslike title went on to become an even bigger sensation compared to the Dark Souls franchise, and fans now await the game’s first Dlc, which is dropping later this year.

Bloodborne is no doubt a game that every soulslike fan should play at least once in their lifetime. It’s so good that many people have been asking for a more refined version of this game and its sequel for nine years now. But everyone also knows that Bloodborne is not a game for a person who does not like a challenge. It is often considered to be one of the hardest games in FromSoftware’s soulslike series.
While fans kept on asking FromSoftware to start working on a sequel, developers by the names of Round 8 Studio and Neowiz decided to give them something else. A very beautiful-looking soulslike game called Lies of P. This game is Bloodborne to the tee. It has a Victorian setting, and features a dark, horror-like environment. But the developers made sure it’s different in one crucial way: it’s not as hard as Bloodborne.

Hidetaka Miyazaki, the iconic FromSoftware auteur who helmed beloved games like Dark Souls and Elden Ring, is known for imbuing his games with complex, expansive, and mysterious lore which can be difficult to decipher.
What makes it even tougher is FromSoftware titles’ signature fragmented storytelling format, which unlike other Aaa games, doesn’t progress the narrative using cutscenes and dialogue, but environmental hints and text from in-game items. According to Miyazaki, his most incomprehensible game wasn’t Bloodborne or Elden Ring, but his directorial debut.
Miyazaki’s Games Alternate In Comprehensibility
Speaking to Future Press in an interview about Bloodborne, Miyazaki veered off-topic for a moment, revealing a fascinating concept that guides his storytelling:
I kind of have a virtual pendulum in my mind. Generally, every other game I make is inscrutable and interpretive, then the next one is easier to understand.

But the biggest attraction involves The Rock, the final boss, who will make his in-ring return after eight long years. However, it appears WWE might’ve planned the return of some other WWE legends to make Wm 40 more substantial.

Hidetaka Miyazaki is credited with directing some of the greatest and most influential games in history, such as Elden Ring and the Dark Souls series. The vast sense of discovery, deeply engaging combat, and challenging bosses of these games have earned them a massive fanbase.
However, Miyazaki’s games are also known for being rather dark and dreary, which is mostly seen in their worlds, but sometimes their themes as well. Particularly, the 2015 cult-classic masterpiece Bloodborne, which featured a rather harrowing scene with a baby, for which Miyazaki offers a compelling explanation.

Ever since the launch of Demon Souls FromSoftware has maintained a trademark. Their games are hard, and they have a bunch of challenging bosses, and players can level up by defeating more and more enemies. This continued with Dark Souls, and it has remained as it is to this very day. There were a couple of exceptions too, though: Sekiro and Armored Core 6.
These games required much more skill than any other games from this developer. While the usual soulslike title allows gamers to grind as much as they like and make their characters powerful enough to push through any hurdles, Sekiro does not allow that. This makes Sekiro one of the hardest games they have made.

FromSoftware has become one of the most sought-after video game developers of modern times. They have single-handedly given the world a new genre of games. Besides that, every time they launch a new game, it’s something mind-blowing. From Demon’s Souls to Bloodborne to Elden Ring, none of these games have been a failure.
They have created a bunch of different games over the years, but they have also kept a few common things that tell gamers that they are playing a FromSoftware title. They like keeping themes common amongst games. They also like to bring a weapon back again and again in every game they play. But the standout amongst them all is this one character that is never absent from a FromSoftware Soulslike game.

FromSoftware CEO and game director, Hidetaka Miyazaki, has shared details of how he and his team are inspired by games that tried their hardest to replicate the success and progression of newer titles like Elden Ring. The video game industry is a tough avenue to find a good footing, especially when other developers have cracked the code for the perfect formula.
Ever since the success of Dark Souls, more and more gaming companies have taken the Souls-like genre and given it their own original and creative spin. Miyazaki then took advantage of the poor and successful attempts made by various developers and used it to his advantage whenever he was working on a new original game.
This strategy is quite beneficial and saves time by identifying what is lacking and how it can improve what fans want.

Hidetaka Miyazaki and his team at FromSoftware have kept one iconic weapon in each and every one of the Souls series games, even the critically acclaimed Elden Ring. However, one game does defy this norm. Sekiro: Shadow Die Twice, was an attempt by the company to move away from their established styles and build a new world.
In the process, the game does not feature the most iconic weapon in the Souls series. Yes, we are talking about the Moonlight Greatsword. One of the most powerful weapons in the Souls series, this weapon is present in all the games by FromSoftware except Sekiro.
When asked about whether the weapon was going to be introduced in Sekiro through future updates, Miyazaki replied in the negative, emphatically.

Elden Ring is widely acclaimed as the best work of Hidetaka Miyazaki and his team at FromSoftware.

Japanese director Hidetaka Miyazaki is responsible for several successful and critically acclaimed Soulslike games like Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and Elden Ring. The talent of FromSoftware has opened doors to partnerships and deals with major publishing companies like Sony and a few years ago, the two parties collaborated and brought the fan favorite Bloodborne, and fans are begging for a sequel.
Developing sequels is not a very popular option for Miyazaki. Bloodborne was a successful collaboration between FromSoftware and PlayStation and have moved forward with another exclusive project called Déraciné, a brand-new original title with a few splashes of the iconic FromSoftware atmosphere and eerie environments of Miyazaki.

The world of Dark Souls is chock-full of mysteries, like the actual circumstances behind the demise of Yoel of Londor. But few have intrigued players more than the one surrounding the firstborn child of Gwyn, Lord of Sunlight.

In a revealing 2019 interview about Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Miyazaki hinted at a pivotal shift in FromSoftware’s approach to game development. This shift ended up influencing the creation of Elden Ring, the studio’s highly anticipated open-world title.
